00:00The focus on today's show, Gray, it seems to be, and I don't know where you were going into the year and, like, in the future on James Wood of the Washington Nationals.
00:08Like, this is just sort of a phenomenon that's been going on this year.
00:12Of course, he was involved in that Juan Soto trade.
00:15It seems to me that he's getting the Barry Bonds treatment because he is Barry Bonds on Washington.
00:20What do you project sort of over a career, over a season?
00:24I'm a little concerned that unless Washington gets him some help, that he's just not going to see anything.
00:28Yeah, no, that is a fair concern.
00:32You know, not to toot my own horn, but in the preseason, there were the three big outfielders that were lined up in drafts.
00:41It was Jackson Merrill, Wyatt Langford, and James Wood.
00:45And everyone really had them in that order because Jackson Merrill was coming off the huge season.
00:50Wyatt Langford had, you know, a huge promise.
00:52And no one was sure, really, with James Wood.
00:55But in my rankings, I had James Wood first.
00:59And I am so glad I did because I drafted him in every league.
01:03I was super in on him.
01:05I felt like he was, like, the talent was undeniable.
01:09You know, going back to those other two guys, Jackson Merrill, unfortunately, had that injury.
01:14And Wyatt Langford just can't stay on the field either.
01:17So, you know, I feel like there was a little bit of luck involved there.
01:20They didn't really, you know, they weren't all healthy, and James Wood beat them.
01:25But James Wood did win in that, from that trifecta of outfielders.
01:30And I just don't really see, like, his talent, because he is a speed power guy, his talent just is not, like, until he ages out of the speed, which I don't see particularly happening.
01:44You know, he's only 22 years old, so I don't see it happening overnight, probably not for another five to seven years, maybe.
01:52So if he keeps his speed and power, he is basically a top seven, top five player overall in fantasy because of, you know, 35 homers, right?
02:05So we're looking at a 35 homer guy with 25 steals, 285 plus average.
02:15You know, you're talking about, like, the heyday of, like, those great years that are just, like, the outfielder with the 35, 25, 285.
02:25Like, think maybe Kyle Tucker, you know?
02:28Like, just, like, these great top five outfielder years.
02:32So, yeah, I love James Wood.
02:34I don't see this as a fluke at all.
02:36I totally have bought in.
02:38I feel like he's probably, unfortunately, the Nationals, like you mentioned, don't really have anyone around him other than, like, C.J. Abrams.
02:47But so the runs and RBIs could hurt a little bit.
02:50But, yeah, outside of the runs and RBIs, I don't see any flaws in his games.
02:55And runs and RBIs are fluky anyway.
02:57And I wouldn't really, you know, count too much on those with anyone other than, you know, a few key guys, unlike the Dodgers or maybe Judge.
03:06But otherwise, runs and RBIs are hard to count on.
03:08So, yeah, James Wood, absolutely.
03:11For your dynasty leagues, keeper leagues, I would be heavily invested.
03:14For your dynasty leagues, I would be heavily invested.
