Alabama EDGE LT Overton 2026 NFL Draft
Transcript
00:00this guy plays a very physical brand of football heavy hands strong at the point of attack but
00:06he's also a really nice mover for his size man listed at six foot five 283 pounds i still have
00:12the question mark joe of like i almost would rather him just go full on i'm gonna be a three
00:17four defensive ends and play like a lot of four four i i almost want it but he does have the
00:22athletic gifts to play on the edge in a odd man in an even front excuse me so i do think that he
00:27has that upside to play in multiple fronts he is he is shamar stewart syndrome right now he's so
00:33close to being a really good football player he just misses too many plays man like he just doesn't
00:38finish enough if lt overton is able to finish more plays because he puts himself in position a lot
00:44heavy hands physical long good athlete if everything becomes to the point of that he can finish more
00:51plays in the backfield at the quarterback then this kid is a first round pick like all day like
00:57he has that type of upside now he will be in almost every mock draft i have this summer because
01:01in summer scouting we are projecting a step to be taken forward and if he takes a step forward i think
01:07that this kid has all the goods to be a very high end nfl draft pick he's number three for me right now
01:13and this was one that pissed me off by the way because i scouted him for the 2025 draft like fully
01:19expecting him to declare and then i see the announcement like after i did my notes after i did my grading that
01:25he decided to go back and i was like okay all right well i guess i'll just go screw myself uh but i
01:29was able to do it's a good decision though i think it was a good decision by him going back for another
01:32year i do it was it kind of you brought up shamar stewart there are a lot of parallels to be made with
01:39his former teammate shamar stewart where stewart probably could have gone back to school and it would
01:43have helped him he still ended up being a top 15 pick so it doesn't really matter i think for lt overton's
01:48case of not so much boosting his draft stock but improving as a football player it's going to be great
01:54for him his sack production awful he's no sack production but for his how heavy he is and how
02:01comically bendy he is that is stuff that you can't find i think that this year we could see a nice
02:07little jump forward for him and him getting closer to double digit sacks in his second year at alabama
02:13he is for very good reason somebody who got brought up a ton during last year's college football season
02:19as a possible first rounder and he still sticks there for me as a late first round prospect
02:23potentially he's just the smoothest you can possibly get for a thicker defensive end and i agree with you
02:31maybe him playing three four defensive end might be better for him
