00:00Month of the Precious Blood of Jesus, a devotion that calls us to gaze deeply into the mystery

00:06of Christ's Passion, where every drop of his blood was poured out in love for us.

00:12As the letter to the Hebrews declares,

00:14Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sins.

00:18Hebrews 9.22

00:19And it is not just any blood, but the blood of God himself, the Lamb without blemish,

00:26who loved us and washed us from our sins in his own blood.

00:31Revelation 1.5

00:33On the cross, Jesus was not only crucified in agony,

00:38he was offering a divine love beyond comprehension.

00:42His sacred heart beat with infinite mercy, even as it was slowly broken.

00:48The shoulder wound, long held in devotion by saints such as St. Bernard and St. Padre Pio,

00:53was so deep, that Christ revealed to St. Bernard, it caused him the greatest pain of all.

01:00Yet even there, he bore it silently for you, for me.

01:05Each scourge, each thorn, each nail was endured in love.

01:09A divine thirst, echoing his own words,

01:13I thirst.

01:16Not merely for water, but for our souls.

01:20At the foot of the cross stood our blessed Mother, silent and sorrowful,

01:25a sword piercing her soul as foretold by Simeon.

01:30She who gave him his body now witnessed that body being torn,

01:35his blood spilled upon the earth.

01:38With a mother's gaze, she saw the chalice of salvation being emptied.

01:42Yet even in her sorrow, she united her suffering to his.

01:46When the soldier pierced his side with a lance,

01:49and immediately blood and water flowed out.

01:53It was not merely a sign of death.

01:56It was the birth of the Church,

01:58the opening of the floodgates of grace and mercy.

02:01Saints and mystics see in that piercing a divine love so immense

02:05that even in death, his heart could not remain closed.

02:10This blood, though shed two millennia ago,

02:13is alive and present.

02:16In every holy mass, the same sacrifice is offered.

02:20Not repeated, but re-presented.

02:23The blood upon the altar is the same blood from Calvary.

02:27In Eucharistic miracles, the veil is lifted.

02:31Consecrated hosts have bled.

02:33And even revealed myocardial tissue,

02:35the living heart of Jesus.

02:38Science confirms what faith proclaims.

02:40This is truly his body and his blood.

02:43Saints such as St. Catherine of Siena,

02:46St. Gaspar del Buffalo,

02:48and St. Alphonsus Liguori

02:49were consumed with devotion to the precious blood.

02:53Pope Pius XIX formally approved the litany of the precious blood in 1960.

02:58And from St. Mary Magdalene de Pazzi to St. Brigitte of Sweden,

03:03heaven has entrusted souls with prayers and visions centered on this divine blood

03:08that pleads for us always before the Father.

03:11Hebrews 12, 24.

03:14Prayer of consecration to the precious blood of Jesus.

03:17O Jesus, divine Redeemer,

03:21I consecrate myself and my whole life to thy precious blood,

03:25the price of my salvation,

03:28the proof of thy burning love,

03:30and the remedy for my soul.

03:32Immerse me in thy wounds,

03:35wash me in thy blood,

03:37make me live only for love of thee.

03:39May thy blood defend me,

03:41heal me,

03:42and bring every soul to the foot of the cross.

03:45O blood of Christ,

03:47poured out for love,

03:49save us,

03:50and the whole world.

03:52Amen.

03:53Let this month be one of reparation,

03:56adoration,

03:57and deeper love.

03:59May we not pass by the cross with indifference,

04:03but kneel,

04:04like Mary and John,

04:06and behold the Lamb who was slain.

04:08His blood was not wasted.

04:11It is our hope,

04:12our healing,

04:14our salvation.

04:16You were not redeemed with corruptible things,

04:19but with the precious blood of Christ,

04:21as of a lamb without blemish,

04:23and without spot.
