00:30We're coming round to meet you a long way long.
00:42Across 20 years and three incredible adventures, we've travelled to some of the farthest flung corners of the world.
00:49This is us on the road, Charlie. This is us on the way, man.
00:51Yet we've never properly explored the countries on our own doorstep.
00:57Okay, here we go. Into Europe.
00:59Let's do it.
01:00So we're spending the summer riding a spectacular loop through 17 of our closest neighbours.
01:05Starting at my house in Scotland, we'll cross over to the continent, travel up through the Nordics and into the Arctic Circle,
01:12down to the Baltics before winding our way through the Alps and across France, returning home about two months later.
01:18And we're going to throw caution to the wind by doing the journey on temperamental 50-year-old bikes that have been given a new lease of life.
01:28My bike's making funny noise.
01:31Riding alongside them on the third rider cycle are cameraman Claudio and Max.
01:36And the guys will also be taking personal diary cameras.
01:40Russ and I will be following behind with a small crew and two electric trucks, only meeting up with the guys when necessary.
01:46So, this summer, Europe is our playground.
01:50Wow!
01:52And we're going to follow our noses and see what we find on the open road.
01:56Good morning, good morning.
02:06The recorders are on.
02:09Have a lovely day.
02:13It's supposed to be a horribly rainy day today, but maybe, maybe it'll change.
02:18And we'll have a lovely dry day and a bit of camping, which will be nice.
02:23So, very exciting, you know.
02:26It's five weeks since we left my house in Scotland, and we're now in Finland.
02:30We're riding south to Helsinki, and from there, we'll head to Estonia, our first Baltic country.
02:37Finland is the size of Germany, but with only 7% of its population, so most of it is breathtaking wilderness.
02:46Oh, I don't like the look of those clouds.
02:48I'm going to stay positive and we'll see what happens.
02:53Oh, oh, oh, oh.
02:54Bloody the rut, what a day.
02:57It's just a...
02:59It's just a little...
03:00It's just a little drizzle.
03:03It's just a passing shower.
03:06Yuck, yuck, yuck, yuck, yuck.
03:09But already my legs are wet in sight.
03:12Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
03:14But it is July.
03:15We're all going on a...
03:18Summer holiday.
03:20No more in a...
03:24Big or two.
03:26I'm just sitting on a big puddle of water, so I have to get a...
03:32A plastic bag, because otherwise my arse is just absolutely sodding wet.
03:38Okie dokie, here we go.
03:41Oh, let's look for a coffee and warm up.
03:45All right, let's do it.
03:47Can we hop in here and see what's there?
03:51This looks promising.
03:52Stick our gloves on there for an hour or two.
04:03What's that?
04:05It looks like a million scarecrows.
04:08So it says here it's called The Silent People, and it was made in 1988 by a Finnish artist called Rohekeho Kalla.
04:18It does look quite eerie and odd.
04:21But it looks kind of beautiful, too.
04:24It says that there are no interpretation of what it is.
04:27It's up to you to decide what your thoughts are.
04:31What it provokes inside you.
04:36They're all facing you, and everyone's still and totally silent.
04:42So it's quite confronting, in a way.
04:44I don't know if it makes you think that people have passed, or maybe all the people have died in wars.
04:52What a meaningless waste of life, you know?
04:56Their focus on you puts a sort of pressure on you, I guess.
05:00It's interesting.
05:05It's simple, but really powerful.
05:07It really is.
05:08Yeah.
05:10Wow.
05:12It's quite something else, isn't it?
05:17Great, isn't it?
05:18Yeah.
05:19Isn't it impressive?
05:21My hair is quite similar, look.
05:26I'm sort of blending in with my hair.
05:29This is Pete.
05:30Hello, Pete.
05:31Nice to meet you, Pete.
05:32Hi.
05:33Nice to meet you.
05:35His jacket's dry.
05:36How come his jacket could dry?
05:37Such a random, beautiful thing to do in the middle of rural Finland.
05:51It's very nice.
05:52That was just a wet fest. Everything is hanging up to dry.
06:04It's just too wet.
06:06Anyway, fingers crossed, there's always tomorrow.
06:09And with a bit of luck, maybe no rain.
06:15This is not raining.
06:17This is what not raining looks like.
06:19Oh, I love this road.
06:24Beautiful, isn't it?
06:26I've forgotten how much I love riding a bike in this nice weather.
06:31It's like, oh, yeah, this is why we do it.
06:38This country is one of the most forested countries I think I've ever seen.
06:43I've heard that log rolling is happening up here somewhere.
06:46Let's go check it out.
06:47Okay, let's go.
06:50Once you left there, it's the one of no return.
06:53You've committed.
06:56Here he comes.
07:07That's impressive, isn't it?
07:09That is very, very good.
07:11He just pulled it in for you, didn't he?
07:13That's amazing.
07:15Very impressive.
07:17Well done.
07:20Let's get changed, because I think we can have a go at this ourselves.
07:24Are you sure it's this way?
07:26Two men alone in the wilderness.
07:27Where do we go?
07:28Here we go.
07:33Bill and Ben, two men, alone in adventure.
07:37Somebody!
07:40Oh, look at that.
07:41It's a dying art and a dying sport.
07:42Do we have to do that together?
07:43There we go.
07:44One on each side.
07:45Look at that.
07:46This is called the lumberjack's christening.
07:47When there was a new lumberjack who would come and join the logging team, then they would
07:59have to go through the process of standing on a log and log rolling and try and get the
08:04other one off.
08:06There's competitions.
08:08So these guys are practicing.
08:19I'll tell you what's not happening.
08:21That lying down thing.
08:23I think if we can lie down while you walk over my back.
08:25Pull!
08:26Pull!
08:27Pull!
08:28Pull!
08:29Pull!
08:31We've got this.
08:34Right, take the shot here, and then we're done.
08:37Yeah, we're done, yeah.
08:40That's nice cold.
08:42Fresh.
08:43Fresh.
08:45Thank you very much.
08:47Is that our turn now?
08:49Nice.
08:50I can imagine.
08:51You're very tired.
08:52Well done.
08:53That's not even wet.
08:55Take the stick.
08:58Oh, it is very good.
09:04Okay, take the stick.
09:05One screen.
09:06Whoa!
09:07Whoa!
09:08Whoa!
09:11Bungie down there.
09:12Bungie down there.
09:13Bungie down there.
09:14Bungie down there.
09:17And you can do it like this.
09:19This.
09:20Sitting here.
09:21Yeah.
09:22And a little bit here.
09:23On top?
09:24Yes.
09:25Yes, that way.
09:26Very good.
09:27And outstanding.
09:28Very fast.
09:29Wait.
09:30On the surface.
09:31Very fast.
09:32Wait, wait.
09:33Wait.
09:34Yes, very fast.
09:36Oh, very fast.
09:37Yes.
09:38Use it against the water.
09:39Whoa!
09:40Whoa!
09:41Whoa!
09:42Whoa!
09:43Whoa!
09:45Whoa!
09:46Whoa!
09:47Whoa!
09:48That was...
09:49Go for a spin on it.
09:50That was so lucky.
09:51Do it on your own and then I'll...
09:52Whoa!
09:53Whoa!
09:54Whoa!
09:55Whoa!
09:56It's so much harder when it's not holding it.
09:57It's always impossible when it's not holding it.
09:59Well, I think we did very well, Charlie.
10:04First one here.
10:09I'm finished now.
10:10I'm a finished person.
10:11Thank you very much.
10:13From Runa, we're riding 230 miles south, close to the Russian border, to Finland's lake lands.
10:19Let's stop over here, shall we?
10:24Right.
10:25Let's do it.
10:29Shall we have a look at this guy's bike?
10:30Wow.
10:31Look at that.
10:32Isn't it beautiful?
10:33Beautiful.
10:34Oh, it's a nice rig, man.
10:35Beautiful.
10:36Beautiful.
10:37Very nice.
10:38Oh, look at that.
10:41Reminds me of Sid.
10:43I've made a new friend.
10:44So nice, man.
10:45Jawa.
10:46It's from Czechoslovakia?
10:47Yeah.
10:48Yeah.
10:4969.
10:50Oh, yeah.
10:51From the old Eastern Bloc.
10:52Yeah.
10:53So cool.
10:54We're really close to the Russian border here, right?
10:56Yeah, very close.
10:57Yeah.
10:58Very close.
10:59Yeah.
11:00Yeah.
11:01Yeah.
11:02Yeah.
11:03Yeah.
11:04Yeah.
11:05Yeah.
11:06Yeah.
11:07Yeah.
11:08Yeah.
11:09Yeah.
11:10Yeah.
11:11Yeah.
11:12Yeah.
11:13Yeah.
11:14He's going to take us to look at the border.
11:21Yeah, it's quite an eerie feeling.
11:29No entry without a special pyramid.
11:36That forest is Russia.
11:38Oh, the forest is Russia.
11:39Yeah.
11:40Wow.
11:41Yeah.
11:42Yeah.
11:43Holy moly.
11:44Hmm.
11:45I'm sure the people here are sort of, the tension is much higher than it was three years ago,
11:50you know.
11:51It must be difficult.
11:52Yeah.
11:53Well, that's very close, Charlie.
11:54All right, man.
11:55Let's get out of here before the border patrols arrive.
11:57Yes.
11:58Okay.
12:02This country has a staggering 188,000 lakes.
12:07And we're going to head into the middle of one of them to this little island.
12:10See if it will be a nice place to camp.
12:13Yeah.
12:14Look at your boat.
12:15It's beautiful.
12:16Wow.
12:17Wow.
12:18So you are now in Pumala.
12:19We have 2,000 inhabitants and 1,000 islands.
12:232,000 inhabitants and 1,000 islands.
12:26Oh, my God.
12:27It's so picturesque here.
12:28Look at that.
12:29That is beautiful, isn't it?
12:31Beautiful.
12:32Step into my office.
12:34Wow.
12:35Look at that.
12:36So this is like the heart of the lake Saima.
12:38There's a huge labyrinth.
12:40This is amazing.
12:41So you can spend whole your life.
12:42Yeah, yeah.
12:43Discovering it.
12:44And there's still never.
12:45I love this map.
12:46I always come here to plan a big adventure.
12:49What do you recommend?
12:50I think it's quite late.
12:51So now we are over here.
12:53You could go here.
12:54This is this island.
12:55Okay.
12:56It's about four kilometers.
12:57Okay.
12:58And it's a very nice area.
13:00We can take you there by boat.
13:02Yeah, yeah.
13:03This is our island camp that we've been talking about for so long.
13:07We're going to go in that beautiful boat.
13:09It's going to be awesome.
13:11And we have biscuits.
13:12So I think everything's fine.
13:14Yeah.
13:15Everything will be fine.
13:16Nothing can go wrong.
13:17Nothing can go wrong.
13:21How old is the boat, sir?
13:2340 years.
13:24Is it?
13:25Yeah.
13:2640 years old.
13:27Wow, how beautiful.
13:29I can't believe that on this lake,
13:32there are a thousand islands.
13:34Paradise.
13:35Plenty to go around.
13:37God, it's so spectacular.
13:41Look, there's like a road.
13:42Look, there's a path.
13:44We have to go through a path.
13:46Most of the land is a tragedy on here.
14:01Yeah.
14:02But if you are traveling along here, and you want to set up the tent and make camp in Ireland, you can do that freely.
14:11We have every month's ride.
14:14And according to that ride, you can stay three nights.
14:20And then you have to collect your tent and carry away and continue the journey.
14:24Otherwise, people will be living here.
14:26It's so beautiful.
14:28Just peace and quiet.
14:31Tranquility.
14:32Lovely.
14:33A man alone on his island.
14:36Perfect.
14:38Son.
14:41Oh, oh, I feel like we're coming in.
14:53Oh.
15:01Okay.
15:02Oof.
15:03Jesus.
15:05Picked up the wrong bag.
15:10How stunningly beautiful.
15:11How cool is this?
15:14It's very magical with all the flowers out and all the little paths everywhere.
15:19Thank you, sir. Cheers. Thank you very much. Lovely.
15:22This is going to be awesome.
15:23I'll see you in the morning.
15:24Well, safe journey home.
15:25Beautiful.
15:26We'll leave it the way we found it.
15:28It's gorgeous.
15:31I'm going to put my tent up, Charlie.
15:33And it's not raining, which is quite nice.
15:35Obviously, if you're trying this at home, make sure it is raining.
15:40And that you're surrounded by the most enormous mosquitoes, then you know you're doing it properly.
15:48Nice little spot.
15:49Yeah.
15:50This was the dream.
15:51The dream.
15:52The dream.
15:53The island camping dream.
15:54Your own private little island amongst a thousand other islands.
15:58And do you know what there aren't any?
16:00Mosquitoes.
16:01No mosquitoes, right?
16:06Fabulous.
16:10There are mosquitoes here.
16:11There are a couple.
16:12Yeah.
16:13There are mosquitoes.
16:14Well, this will get rid of them.
16:24Look at this beautiful white wood.
16:26Oh, my goodness.
16:28That's good, isn't it?
16:29That's good, isn't it?
16:30Yeah.
16:31Apparently, these are very Finnish dessert.
16:33Bread cheese?
16:34Cheese.
16:35It's like, um...
16:36It's like, um...
16:37Halloumi.
16:38Halloumi.
16:39And basically, you put them in here, and then you just stick them on the fire for a little
16:44bit.
16:45And then you pour cream and sugar, and then you eat them with a bit of jam.
16:50Dams and jam?
16:51Dams and jam.
16:52Dams and jam.
16:53That's it.
16:54So, that's all fried.
16:56So then, a little bit of cream.
17:00And a little bit of sugar.
17:03I hope I'm doing this right.
17:06Tony is an amazing cook.
17:08Mm.
17:09All my life, since I've known you, you've cooked delicious things.
17:12I've known you were a very delicious cook.
17:15I mean, you've cooked very delicious, and you're a good-looking cook.
17:19Look at that.
17:25It's great, isn't it?
17:27Is it okay?
17:28Mm.
17:29It's very, very good.
17:31Mm.
17:32That's not bad, huh?
17:33Actually, that's really good.
17:34You've done that beautifully, of course.
17:36Just relax and take it easy.
17:38In the morning, we're gonna have a swim there, because it's absolutely beautiful.
17:41Yeah, no, for sure.
17:42Yeah, it's just 100% beautiful.
17:43Yeah, it's just 100% beautiful.
17:44Yeah.
17:45Cool.
17:46Yeah, no, it's great.
17:47Absolutely gorgeous.
17:49And the fact that we can go and explore the world can be very good for you, good for
17:54your spirit, good for your soul.
17:56We can look at any inch of it on our laptop from a satellite image, but the actual going
18:01there and being in that place is always a unique experience, which stays with you forever.
18:10Golden color of the evening light is beautiful.
18:14You're very lucky, aren't we?
18:18Oh, great sleep.
18:19Oh, it's so warm in here this morning.
18:20Oh, we have trouble opening the tent with one hand.
18:37Good Lord.
18:38Good Lord.
18:39Okay.
18:40Let's try again.
18:41What an amazing sight.
18:43What an amazing place.
18:45I think if the whole trip had been for one moment, it would be to have spent the night
19:07here last night because it's so beautiful.
19:13Good morning in this paradise.
19:23Look where we are.
19:25Slept well, but woke up early as always.
19:29I'm feeling a little tired.
19:31And then I saw this this morning.
19:38This is a huge, huge body of water.
19:41And it's this incredible sort of acapellico of animals and wildlife and otters even near
19:47here.
19:48And if you just listen, hang on.
19:55It's so quiet here.
19:58So beautifully quiet.
20:00When we were sleeping last night.
20:02There was no noise.
20:04It was just, er, just us and nature.
20:07Oh my God.
20:08I didn't know you were there.
20:09Hello.
20:10G'day mate.
20:11G'day mate.
20:12How's it going?
20:14Spiderwebs everywhere.
20:15Spiderwebs everywhere.
20:16All right, Charlie.
20:17You ready for the plunge?
20:18It's so warm and dry in there.
20:19Yeah.
20:20I couldn't believe when I woke up.
20:21Just quite how warm it was.
20:22Here we go.
20:23Yeah.
20:24It's going to be a walk in, isn't it?
20:25Yeah.
20:26Yeah.
20:27Yeah.
20:28Oh, I wish we could have to go.
20:29Yeah.
20:31Let's go.
20:32Oh my God, see.
20:33Oh my God.
20:34Oh my God.
20:35You're not.
20:36Yeah.
20:37You're not.
20:38I'm not.
20:39I'm not.
20:40Yeah.
20:41You're not.
20:42You're not.
20:43You're not.
20:44I'm not.
20:45I'm not.
20:46I'm not.
20:47I'm not.
20:48Yeah.
20:49I'm not.
20:50Oh, I wish we could jump.
20:52This is quite chilly, Minnelli.
20:54Yeah.
21:06Oh, it's not that bad.
21:10Oh, it's great.
21:11It's not that bad.
21:12It's good.
21:13Oh, it's good.
21:15Look at it.
21:20Oh, I love the color of the water.
21:31It's so beautiful.
21:32It's lovely, isn't it?
21:33That's the color.
21:38Once in a while, you get lucky to end up in a place like this.
21:45God, there's not a single cloud in the sky.
21:48I don't think we've ever seen the sky like this, have we?
21:52It's almost never not rained in a single day.
21:59Absolutely beautiful.
22:00What a day.
22:01Well, maybe it's the turning point, you know?
22:03Yeah.
22:04I hope so.
22:05I'm just a bounder on the ramp.
22:18I can see for miles behind me and miles ahead.
22:25I'm just a mountain not yet tall.
22:29Energy is all around me, telling me to be happy.
22:35It's the secret of the sea love.
22:39It's almost like I could disappear.
22:43You know it happened once.
22:46I'm so sad to be leaving this gorgeous place.
22:48But from Lake Seymour, we're riding 165 miles southwest to reach Finland's capital.
22:56We're finally heading to Helsinki, and this has always been our halfway point.
23:02Our wife Olivia is going to be there.
23:03It is going to be so much fun.
23:05I'm so excited to see her.
23:07I'm going to meet up with my wife Mary, and my son Laurie, and have a little family pause
23:14in the middle of this trip.
23:16It's so lovely to be able to do these adventures, and it's so hard to be away from everyone.
23:21I don't like being away from them at all.
23:25Helsinki!
23:27Here we come!
23:29After a wonderful reunion with our families this afternoon, we're now going to cook a special
23:33finished meal for them with the help of a famous local chef, Linnea Vaihoenen.
23:38Hello!
23:39Hello!
23:40How are you?
23:41Oh my gosh, look at that!
23:42Very good!
23:43We have like a super hyper-local menu.
23:44Oh, brilliant.
23:45Let's hope we don't screw it up.
23:46So we're going to make Jerusalem and artichokes with the saffron aioli and pickled mushrooms,
23:52and we're going to make wild herb sauce for this.
23:55And this fish is?
23:56Arctic char.
23:57Arctic char.
23:58Brilliant.
23:59And then as a dessert, wild herb ice cream.
24:01Oh wow!
24:02He's a better chef than I am, so I'm in the dessert.
24:05Okay.
24:06Okay, I'll go on this side.
24:07So I think you could start with the wild herb sauce.
24:10Wood sorrow?
24:11Mm-hmm.
24:12There's some fresh dill.
24:13Yep.
24:14We are like so close to the sea and forest, so we have a lot of wild herb.
24:18Okay, Ruan, how are you doing?
24:20Very good!
24:21Everything's going perfectly according to plan.
24:23I didn't just drop this in the milk.
24:25And then I will bring you some almonds.
24:28Oh my god, you look such a pro!
24:30I played a chef in a movie.
24:31Yeah.
24:32So I know how to look like one.
24:33Oh, true!
24:34Sorry!
24:35What are you doing, Charlie?
24:36What's that one?
24:37This is the green sauce for the beans.
24:39Oh, nice.
24:40So the sorrel and...
24:41Oh, oh, oh, it's coming up!
24:43Okay.
24:44Okay.
24:45Now we are going to add some bread to the dessert.
24:48This is like very classic Finnish bread.
24:50It's made with malt.
24:51Oh, that's really crispy now.
24:55Oh, it's like heaven.
24:58Charlie, my ice cream looks amazing.
25:00Oh, that looks amazing.
25:01Do you see the green, the light green of it all?
25:03Yeah.
25:04Oh, this smells wonderful, isn't it?
25:05So in Finland we use a lot of dill, so classic taste combination is dill and potato.
25:11I mean, I never thought to put them in with the water.
25:13Yeah.
25:14You would sprinkle dill on top when you serve, but I never thought to do it this way.
25:18I'll never boil my potatoes without dill from now on.
25:21We like sour here, fermenting, pickling, it's like very natural in our cooking.
25:26Okay.
25:27So instead of the wine, you can just put very sour apple juice.
25:32Exactly.
25:34Ladies should be arriving any minute.
25:36It's been four or five weeks we've been on the road.
25:38Yeah.
25:39That's a long time not to see your loved ones.
25:46Okay.
25:47Potatoes.
25:48Oh, it looks good, look.
25:49Yeah.
25:53F*** me, that's hot.
25:55Oh, Christ.
25:57I bet I just sat on my gum there for a second.
26:00Potatoes ready, chef.
26:02Potatoes.
26:03Potatoes are 100% ready, chef.
26:05We're both scolded and we need to go to the hospital, but the potatoes are ready.
26:08Oh, hey guys.
26:09Cooper, hi, welcome.
26:10Hello.
26:12Hey.
26:13Hello.
26:14You're in for a treat I think, ladies.
26:15Can't wait to try.
26:16Yeah.
26:17What did you actually cook?
26:18I made these.
26:19Wow.
26:20It's so pretty, this whole spread.
26:21To the table, please.
26:22Thank you guys.
26:23Oh, Mary, I made such a mess of yours.
26:26Oh, no, it's lovely.
26:27Bread?
26:28It's so delicious what we did together.
26:29Oh, nice.
26:30Are we ice creaming?
26:31Oh, yes.
26:32Oh, yeah.
26:33Now this ice cream was made with a great deal of love, all I can say.
26:35Unbelievable.
26:36Love it.
26:37Love it.
26:38Yeah.
26:39Yeah.
26:40You're welcome.
26:41Yeah.
26:42No ничего.
26:43Can you move to the table, please?
26:44Come on down.
26:45Yeah.
26:46I made such a mess of yours.
26:47Oh, no, it's lovely.
26:48Bread.
26:49So delicious what we did together.
26:50So nice.
26:51Are we ice creaming?
26:52Oh, yes.
26:53Oh, yeah.
26:54Now this ice cream was made with a great deal of love, all I can say.
26:58Unwillingly delicious.
26:59Love it.
27:00Good.
27:01That's so cool, that's just for daddy from you.
27:16Do you want to say bye bye to the cow?
27:19Bye bye.
27:21Just woke up.
27:24I don't want to turn the phone off when you drive.
27:32No, I've got him, he's cable tied on.
27:35He won't come off there.
27:39How many bags do you fancy yours?
27:43Daddy!
27:48I'm back!
27:50I don't know where he gets any of this from.
27:52When you're born, when your mission is to perform, you know, and entertain.
28:06That's it, we're ready to go.
28:08We're off now, but like everyone's saying goodbye, it's always quite difficult.
28:12I'll have a nice time in Alden.
28:14I will.
28:15It's a crazy place.
28:16I'll send all the stories back to you.
28:18Ollie left really early this morning, but part of me is kind of thinking it's a nicer way,
28:24because otherwise you're just prolonging the whole thing, and it's hard to say goodbye.
28:30What's this for me?
28:32Do I take it?
28:33No.
28:34I love you, Baba.
28:35Bye, Baba.
28:36Okay.
28:37Goodbye, everyone.
28:38Well, here we are, just leaving Helsinki after a really lovely break with my beautiful wife, Mary.
28:52And my son, Laurie.
28:53Oh, hello.
28:54Well, you and Spike just backfired a little bit.
28:55Uh-oh.
28:56Uh-oh.
28:57Uh-oh.
28:58What is that?
28:59Oh.
29:00That doesn't sound good.
29:01Now there's a little bit of popping going on, which is a little bit of a waddy.
29:04Just a warm-op thing.
29:05Yeah.
29:06Oh.
29:07Cool.
29:08Okay.
29:25Maybe it's just a warm-up.
29:27Just a warm-up thing.
29:29Oh.
29:34Oh, maybe it just needs a good blast.
29:39Well, it's not going to get one now.
29:41No.
29:42This is the ferry port here.
29:45Oh, Lord.
29:48It's just not the feeling you want where you're like, yeah, everything's good.
29:56We are heading to Tallinn in Estonia, and we're on a boat with a road of bikers.
30:02Look how many bikers there are.
30:03So we're leaving the Nordic countries now.
30:06That's it.
30:07Now we're on Chapter 2, which is Eastern Europe.
30:10Eastern Europe, so we're going to Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and then some other places.
30:22This ferry takes us across the Gulf of Finland to Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, the northernmost of the three Baltic states.
30:30Along with Latvia and Lithuania, Estonia was under occupation by the Soviet Union for over 50 years, contributing to its unique cultural identity.
30:40Are you through there, Ewan?
30:44I'm behind the car behind you.
30:47Okay.
30:48Perfect.
30:50Let's do it.
30:51All right.
30:58Oh, wow, what's that? Look, it looks like a massive swing.
31:02Should we go and check it out?
31:03Let's go and have a look.
31:04Oh, Jesus, this goes really well.
31:14Oh, holy moly.
31:16He's doing it in not so much energy as much as you're going.
31:21Not as much energy as much as you're going.
31:22Wow.
31:23Once you've got, oh, oh, he's got a lot of control.
31:26Yeah.
31:27Are you spotting?
31:28Do you need to keep your eyes on one place?
31:30He has air in his eyes at the moment of it.
31:36Is this something unique to this part of the world?
31:39Basically, if you want to do this thing, you have to go to Estonia.
31:42Estonia?
31:42Estonia, yes.
31:43Whoa.
31:46Does it make you dizzy?
31:48Nope.
31:49For me?
31:51For some people, yes.
31:53I know, it makes me feel a bit sick just watching.
31:55Are there competitions?
31:57Yes.
31:58What's the world record height?
32:00Seven meters, 43 centimeters.
32:04It's like...
32:05What, from the feet?
32:06Yeah, yeah, from the feet.
32:07The feet at the top.
32:08Yeah, it's like 15, 16 meters upside down, yes.
32:11Well, how do you do it?
32:11Are you attached?
32:13Yeah, feet and hands both are attached.
32:16And that's why we tell it it's one of the safest sports in the world.
32:22Sure.
32:23So, if I was...
32:24If one of us were to have a go at it, would we try on this swing?
32:28Yes.
32:28Do you want to go?
32:29I'll give it a go.
32:30I have very confidence that he'll...
32:32That he'll master this...
32:34Always hands in front of you.
32:35Seamlessly.
32:36I'm sure it's...
32:37We do it in a slow motion.
32:38I'm sure he's got the natural ability.
32:39Let's see.
32:42Momentum stops again.
32:43Squat again.
32:44Yep.
32:45That's not a squat.
32:46Okay.
32:47As deep as you can go.
32:48Okay.
32:49And you come up in here.
32:50Up here.
32:51Good luck, Charlie.
32:53Give it everything you've got.
32:54We start from the squat.
32:56Okay.
32:56Try to listen.
32:57Okay.
32:58I would say squat up.
32:59Up.
33:00Squat.
33:01Up.
33:02Squat.
33:03Up.
33:04Squat.
33:05Up.
33:06Squat.
33:07Up.
33:08Squat.
33:09Up.
33:10Squat.
33:11Up.
33:12Squat.
33:13Try to go with the feet for squat.
33:16Hang on.
33:17You okay?
33:18Um...
33:18No, no.
33:19I think I'll stop, actually.
33:21Okay.
33:21Makes me feel sick.
33:23Oh, no.
33:24Oh, no.
33:24Are you a seasick?
33:25Yep.
33:27Just stand up straight.
33:32Oh, I didn't like that at all.
33:36That's definitely not my bag.
33:38You gave it a go, Charlie.
33:40You gonna have a go, Ewan?
33:41I don't think so.
33:42I think you've demonstrated it beautifully.
33:44Made you feel really queasy?
33:46Yeah, maybe.
33:46Yeah.
33:47Well, this is your bag, man.
33:48You make it look good.
33:50Anyway, but thank you, guys.
33:51Thank you so much, guys.
33:52Thank you very much.
33:52Lovely.
33:53Brilliant.
33:53I'm glad you were able to show us this.
33:55Awesome.
33:55Specifically Estonian sport.
33:57Thanks for not saying what a pathetic attempt.
34:01No worries.
34:02Cheers, guys.
34:03We see it quite a lot.
34:04Yeah, don't worry.
34:04All right.
34:06It's funny the things people get up to, isn't it, in the world?
34:11People seem to sort of find all sorts of things to do.
34:15There's something for everybody.
34:19Oh, Jesus.
34:20My bike's in trouble here.
34:22It's not good.
34:23Let's stay on here until we find something.
34:29I could feel it.
34:30Like, at 60, I could feel it, like, acetate.
34:32Bop, bop, bop.
34:34Bop, bop, bop.
34:34Like, acetation.
34:38Oh, Jesus.
34:39Oh, there's a puff of smoke again.
34:43Yeah, it's dying.
34:48Turned straight into the car park just here.
34:51Okay.
34:52Okay.
34:55So what does it feel like?
34:57It's...
34:57It's hesitating.
35:00So, it could be spark again.
35:02Does that plug on properly?
35:04This one came off very easily.
35:06Oh, this one is hot.
35:08Yeah.
35:08I can't get this one off.
35:11That...
35:12This came off quite easily just now.
35:14So maybe it was that.
35:23Yeah.
35:24We're all good now.
35:25Better and better.
35:26I'm getting to know it.
35:26Yeah, yeah, yeah.
35:27That's it.
35:28We'll be on the road now.
35:29Beautiful.
35:31All good?
35:32All good.
35:33All good.
35:39Yeah, it's still doing it, guys.
35:41Oh, no.
35:41What?
35:42Yeah, it's still doing it.
35:43Oh, what?
35:46Oh, damn.
35:49Yeah, it's still, like, doing that hesitation thing.
35:51Yeah, look.
35:52So, just push it off the road.
35:57Let me push it off the road.
36:00Damn, that bloody thing.
36:05This bike is my everything.
36:06The only way for me to get through this trip is on this motorbike.
36:12Potentially, it's the end of the line when there's you and the bike.
36:18We've just broken down.
36:20They say you're a magician, and I think that's what I'm saying.
36:22That's what we need.
36:24Did you feel it sway?
36:25Oh, my God.
36:26It really did sway, didn't it?
36:27Hey, nice to meet you.
36:28Oh, that's your husband.
36:30She's a legend, isn't she, here?
36:31Don't worry, be happy.
36:33Oh, my God.
36:37I've never seen anything like this.
36:52I don't know about this.
36:54I don't know.
