00:00The Pittsburgh Steelers just started 4th of July week out with a bang, a blockbuster trade that
00:05sent fireworks across the league as the Steelers have received Jalen Ramsey and Jonu Smith in
00:10exchange for Minka Fitzpatrick. Today we break it all down. I know it's hard to believe but Minka
00:19Fitzpatrick is no longer a Pittsburgh Steelers and a lot of people they're up in arms about that.
00:23How could you trade away one of the best players on the Steelers defense, the heart and soul of
00:28the defense, a vocal leader, a team player that did everything asked of him? The truth of the matter
00:34is Minka Fitzpatrick was no longer the same player. You go back and look at his first three years in
00:39Pittsburgh, 12 interceptions. You look at the last two seasons, just one. And part of that is not
00:45all due to Minka Fitzpatrick. The Steelers, they asked him to play all over the defense. They asked
00:49him to play in the box. They asked him to play nickel. They asked him to basically be a souped
00:53up linebacker at times. That's obviously going to take away from your production. But whether it was
00:57durability or just erosion of his skill set, it was clear over the last two seasons to not only
01:02the Steelers but to multiple NFL evaluators and sources told A to Z Sports that he was no longer
01:07the same player. And so what did the Steelers do? They dump his salary and they bring on Jalen Ramsey
01:13and Jonu Smith. And I understand that Jalen Ramsey is aging but you go back and look at his last season
01:19with the Dolphins. He was the best player on their defense by far. This is a guy who's still a top
01:24five player at the NFL position of defensive back. He can play all over the defense. A lot
01:29of people are saying, well, who's going to replace Minka Fitzpatrick? Jalen Ramsey could very well
01:33replace Minka Fitzpatrick. This is a guy who can play outside corner. He can play the slot slash nickel
01:38position. You can even stick him at safety. And then you go to Jonu Smith. We have a souped up
01:44playmaking tight end number two to go along with Pat Friar-Muth. I understand that his position is
01:49tight end, but this guy can play Y. He can play F. He can play H-back. He's just another giant
01:54weapon for Aaron Rodgers and for the Steelers offense. So all in all, I understand that giving
01:59up an all-time great, a player who was one of the best safeties to ever play for the Pittsburgh
02:05Steelers seems like a major loss. But with what the Steelers have done this offseason, going all in
02:10in 2025, signing Aaron Rodgers, trading for DK Metcalf, now acquiring Jalen Ramsey and Jonu Smith,
02:16the pressure is on. That's the truth. I get it. We know that Omar Khan and Mike Tomlin,
02:21they have to produce. And this trade, it just further emphasizes that. If the team fails to
02:26reach the playoffs or fails to win a playoff game, heads are going to roll in Pittsburgh.
02:32Omar Khan, he's put all his chips into the middle of the table with this trade, as has Mike Tomlin.
02:37You don't give up a potential future Hall of Famer, a pro bowler, an all-pro, one of the stalwarts
02:43on your defense if you don't think that he's gone and he's past his prime. If you don't think
02:49that who you're getting will better your team. So we'll see who's right in the end. But right now,
02:54this seems like a massive win for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
