00:00Each week Kawasaki highlights the science behind the sport of super motocross and we give you an inside look at how champions are engineered.
00:10Kawasaki.com let those good times roll they're about to roll because sight lap is alive 450 moto too. It's about to get underway.
00:18Show you what it looked like the first moto of the day at Southwick in the 450 class. Another great start by the Honda duo. The Lawrence's Jet and Hunter. Got Aaron Plessinger right there with him on the number seven. Cooper Webb in fourth. Now Jet Dolores is not a stranger to controlling leads. He pulled away quickly. Attention shifted to this. Signs of life from Jorge Prado. He makes a move on Webb. Getting up in that top five fight of the number seven.
00:4870. But then Eli Tomac starting to roll after an even worse start. He gets around Webb as well. And he was pounding Prado all the way toward the end. Then they catch Plessinger. It's for third. Plessinger started to labor. So that allows Prado to take over third. But it's not over yet because Tomac kept charging. He's going to get Plessinger as well. So what was the battle for fourth? It's now for third place between Prado and Tomac.
01:16And Tomac putting pressure on watch top of the screen. Prado goes down in that corner and that allows Tomac to take over third. Prado would eventually get back up for fifth and nearly get back around Plessinger who passed him there. There's Hunter Lawrence. A good run in second.
01:36And honestly looked like he was all alone out front. But he was actually all alone in second because it was Jett out front.
01:45And he was able to cruise it home for the largest gap he's had all year.
01:50Been winning all season. But that was next level winning for the number 18.
01:54Justin Cooper came from the back for sixth. Getting Webb late.
02:00Hampshire nearly got Webb as well. Crash trying to pass him. Eight.
02:04Kulas. Barsha round out the top ten. That's Moto One. Moto Two about to take to the gate.
02:10We do have a special guest on hand who'll actually be racing with us next weekend.
02:14But he's the Grand Marshal for Southwick.
02:16Just moments ago, Will Christian able to catch up with the great nine-time champion of the MXGP, Tony Caroli.
02:22Thank you so much, Jason. It's an absolute honor to finally get to meet you.
02:26I haven't met you before, Tony. So glad to see you here at Southwick.
02:29And it's for a reason there. It's on the T-shirt.
02:31Ducati, it's a big weekend coming up next weekend for you guys at Redbud because it's going to be the U.S. debut
02:37when we see the 450 race for the first time.
02:40Now, you've been involved right from the get-go about a year and a half ago.
02:43So what does it mean to you to have all the work that's gone in with all the personnel involved to have sort of be at this moment where we're a week out?
02:50Yeah, I mean, it's fantastic.
02:52You know, I've been involved since I saw just the scratch on the paper and then just rode it for the first time ever.
03:01And then now bring it to race in the U.S., you know, one of the most important championships.
03:06It's fantastic. Italian bike with the Italian rider.
03:09I couldn't wish for a better thing.
03:10Of course, we are retired for a couple of years, but, I mean, we are still riding a bit here and there.
03:16So I'm really looking forward to have the bike on track and show it to the American fans, yeah.
03:21Now, it's a debut for the American fans, but you have been racing it in Europe with the GP.
03:26So how's that been going? Because I'm hearing early success.
03:28Yeah, I mean, it's already this year the bike is riding every weekend at the MXGP.
03:35So still we are evolving every week and trying to do different things and this and that.
03:41So, yeah, I mean, the bike is growing quickly.
03:45I mean, as a standard bike, you know, for the public, it's already a very, very good bike.
03:50With the racing, we still need a lot of things to be fixed, but still, it's amazing to be here.
03:56Well, we're excited to have you here. I'll be with you next week at Redbud.
04:00Can't wait to see you out there, Tony, and thanks for your time. We appreciate it.
04:02Thank you. Bye-bye.
04:06Can't wait for that.
04:07The nine-time MXGP World Champ making that debut for Ducati Hill Race next weekend at Redbud and again at Millville.
04:15You can watch more with him on our SMX Insider Show, JT and I.
04:18Ask him some questions. You can watch that on Thursday afternoon, the extended interview.
04:22Let's get ready again for 450 Moto 2 with the KTM keys to the Moto James.
04:28What's the difference here in this one compared to Moto 1?
04:30Well, we've got to see if Lawrence can step it up.
04:33That's Hunter Lawrence, as it is.
04:35If he can improve one spot better, maybe get up there and run with his brother.
04:39And then, Eli Tomac, you heard him, he needed to get a better start.
04:41He's kind of disappointed between his mid-Moto.
04:43So, can he get a better start in Moto 2 and maybe go after that A-team?
04:47Because as they saw that first Moto, you cannot let him out front.
04:51Now, he did some serious damage, even more than usual.
04:54Again, JT Lawrence has won every overall this year.
04:58But Prado, right next to him, has shown a lot more fight today than the previous rounds of the championship.
05:03See what happens if they can start with him.
05:05But it has been a big if.
05:07The Lawrences and those Hondas have been crazy off the line the last couple of seasons.
05:11Will it change here?
05:13Looks like Jorge's lined up in between both guys.
05:18Shout-out to Mitchell Harrison, the FMF Privateer Power Award this week.
05:22The Partzilla Blaster Power PRMX Kawasaki.
05:26Good to have him back with us.
05:28Been in and out of the pro motocross scene for the last couple of years.
05:31But he's been rock solid this season.
05:33Fly Racing 30-second card is up.
05:37And this is it.
05:38It could seriously all be determined by these first few moments before they hit that first turn.
05:44The Lawrence has got the jump in Moto 1.
05:47What happens this time?
05:48Rebs are up.
05:51Gates down.
05:56Prado drives it in deep.
05:58They're side-by-side.
06:00He went off the track to try to get Jett.
06:03Jett to the lead again, but Prado is second.
06:05Yeah, I can just show you what that confidence does with Jorge.
06:08He tried to get in there, but that right-handed, he couldn't stop.
06:11Jett Lawrence is out front.
06:12Eli Tomac got a better start.
06:13Looks like Hunter Lawrence slots up in their third place.
06:16All right, here it is for these guys.
06:18That's what we wanted to see.
06:19Now Hunter putting pressure on Prado.
06:22Yeah, you can already see the gap that Jett's already able to get.
06:25It's going to be important for Eli to see if he can go past Hunter Lawrence up the inside.
06:29He makes the move.
06:30Oh, James, he's got it.
06:31Can he seal the deal?
06:34Hunter's fighting back.
06:34Yeah, he's got to try to block.
06:36Nice pass by Eli now.
06:37He's got to get around to number seven.
06:39He's going to be tough, but Eli knows he had the pace in the first moto.
06:43He believes he had the pace.
06:44Now he's got to get up there and run with these guys.
06:46They made some work on the track.
06:47They made some of these lines that he easily, inside and outside.
06:52Hey, they both have a lot to prove.
06:53It's not just Tomac that walks Lawrence.
06:56Much better.
06:57Jorge Prado today.
06:58Can he keep the 18 in sight?
07:00This is as highly anticipated a battle as Tomac versus Lawrence.
07:05What does Prado have to offer?
07:06We're going to find out.
07:07Yeah, in a way, Jorge's been riding all day long.
07:10We're kind of overlooking the fact that, you know, maybe Eli needs to get around them.
07:14But, man, Jorge's been around really good.
07:16He's got some pace.
07:17So, can he get that pace going early this moto, this second moto, and keep Jet Lawrence in sight?
07:22We're going to find out.
07:22Yeah, this is a scenario everyone wanted to see.
07:26Jet with another hole shot, but these two have clear racetrack.
07:31Hunter riding well in fourth.
07:33Parsha fifth.
07:38And they are in full send mode on this first lap.
07:41Yeah, I mean, some of this track is starting to change up a lot.
07:45And I feel like with these guys, they just got to keep Jet within three, four seconds.
07:49Even if he's able to break them here in the beginning, if you can keep it in,
07:52because that beginning part of that first moto, Jet got that huge lead and didn't stabilize.
07:57You know, you heard Hunter talk about, you know, it was just opening a couple lapses.
08:01Man, I know that hurt.
08:02Daddy Tomac right there, that overjump in there.
08:04But that lead stabilized, and those guys were able to hold that gap.
08:08But if he can get it, they keep stretching, it's going to race going to be over.
08:11So it looks like Jorge's in a better position this moto for sure.
08:15Okay, so, James, how does Eli play it in third?
08:17Is he as desperate to pass Prado if he sees Prado keeping Jet in sight?
08:23How does he play?
08:24No, I think if Jorge keeps Jet in sight, like you said, Eli would just sit back.
08:29As long as he doesn't get that pressure from Hunter Lawrence,
08:32what he doesn't want is the 18 getting away from him.
08:34And it looks like Jorge right now actually has a really good pace.
08:37Actually, he's kind of closing back in on Jet.
08:39So, yeah, Eli, let him play, you know, pick and roll style.
08:42Let Jorge go after him.
08:43Jorge hasn't had any experience against Jet Lawrence, so let him go for it.
08:48Looks good.
08:50I want to show you this start.
08:52Prado just wasn't going to let Jet Lawrence have it.
08:56Yeah, and you wonder, Jorge, he actually had the jump,
08:58but Jet was on the inside, and this is that right-handed first corner.
09:01The reason he goes out so far is because he can't stop.
09:03You know, he's got to slide and slide that bike before he has to turn.
09:07So you can tell by his attitude, Jorge wanted to be up front.
09:12That was the most aggressive I've seen him off the start.
09:14So, look, it started from practice, being fast.
09:17Now you're starting to see that two-time champion that we've seen out here.
09:22Let's see if you can continue that.
09:23Well, remember back to the opening round of the championship
09:26where they didn't run that scoop tire, which is usually better for starts,
09:29and the word for the team was not ready to hold shot yet.
09:33I think we've seen a different style off the start today.
09:35Yeah, no, you're seeing a whole different rider out here today,
09:38just like we saw in Tom Bial in that 250 class.
09:41Once these guys get a sense of any kind of confidence,
09:43and I felt like with Jorge, yeah, he might be struggling on a bike, new tracks,
09:47but it really just comes down to he believes,
09:49and whether he finishes this off is a good sign of what we're seeing from the Kawasaki.
09:54And that first moto, Jet Lawrence already had a seven-second lead by this point.
09:58So Jorge's finding his form, and I do believe if he stays here,
10:03we're going to have a race here.
10:04And we're going to go back to the question we've asked.
10:07It feels like 100 times, this 1.3-second gap.
10:11Is that right where Lawrence wants them,
10:14or are they seriously applying pressure?
10:16It's been this way so many times.
10:19Now it's time to play the game with Prado.
10:22Yeah, I would say on this racetrack, that 1.3, this isn't where you want.
10:27I mean, we saw that.
10:28That's not enough.
10:28No, just because how quickly Southwick is,
10:31and you've got to think, it's going to be a difficult race.
10:33It's going to be tough.
10:35All three of these guys are in shape.
10:36But once you get in those lap traffic,
10:38there's a lot of places on this racetrack where you get stuck behind them.
10:41So that's a little too close for comfort.
10:44Interesting.
10:44That's your old buddy Chad Reed there, who, he lives at Club MX.
10:48That's where Prado's been riding for the last week.
10:50And we saw Chad down at the starting line,
10:52talking to Prado before the Modos sent it to Will.
10:57Chad, you've been at Club MX.
11:00Jorge Prado's been at Club MX.
11:02There's been a lot going on there this weekend.
11:03Wow, have we seen some serious improvement.
11:06Are you officially working together?
11:08Give us the update on that.
11:09And what are you seeing in Jorge today?
11:12You know, I think Jorge's results and inoculates speak for themselves.
11:16And I don't think that that's a representative of who he has been up until this point.
11:20So, yeah, I mean, I guess when you really look at the big picture,
11:25I've been to so many of those things that he's going through.
11:27You know, a new country, a new team, new people.
11:31If I can help, I would love to.
11:33You know, like you think about your 43-year-old self
11:36and you wish that, you know, at 24 years old,
11:39you had somebody with knowledge that would help.
11:42And I'm just that passionate, crazy guy that loves coming to the races.
11:47And I have a wife at home that's just equally as passionate
11:50that allows me to do it.
11:51So he's made big progress this week, and that's flowed over to this weekend.
11:56So for me as a friend, as a, you know, as a Club MX guidance guy,
12:02it's a real pleasure to see him take a step.
12:04And all that experience that you were talking about,
12:06all those laps not only have helped Jorge,
12:09but they've also got you into the AMA Hall of Fame.
12:12So congratulations on that.
12:13How does that feel to be in that situation?
12:15You know, that's a, it's not something that you achieve, right?
12:18Like, it's not a thing you chased as a kid.
12:21It's just something that after years and years of committed,
12:24being passionate, you know, racing the best guys in the world.
12:29Those are the, you know, the things that come your way.
12:31And it just makes me beyond, I can't even put it into words,
12:34how, like, proud I am.
12:36You know, like, my friends, my old competitors are all in there.
12:41I just raced too long.
12:42So now this was the first year that I was eligible.
12:44And so I really am appreciative of what the AMA does.
12:49And I feel really honored.
12:51Very well-deserved.
12:52Thank you for your time, Chad.
12:53We appreciate it.
12:53Thank you.
12:55Yeah, congratulations, Chad.
12:57I mean, I know when he's get up there, it is a special feeling.
12:59And what he was talking about with Jorge, you know, just helping him out,
13:02you would think in most sports, they're talking about coaching,
13:05you know, working on your basketball game, your jump shot.
13:07I don't think Jorge needs any help on his technique or how he rides a motorcycle.
13:11But what Chad did say right there was that experience as Eli almost goes down.
13:15It's the experience of, like, just having somebody that, like, look, man,
13:19if you just stayed a course, I've been there through this.
13:21Like, look, I've experienced this.
13:23I've moved to a different country.
13:25Like, I've struggled like this.
13:26And I think that's what Jorge needs.
13:28And maybe that's the signs of life that we see in him today.
13:30Maybe he got that help from Chad.
13:31JT.
13:32Yeah, yeah.
13:33And I don't claim to have the answers.
13:35I mean, it could be the help of Chad.
13:36I mean, it could be Eli yelling at Jorge Prado because when Chad wasn't riding very well,
13:40I'll tell you what happened.
13:41Eli went in and gave him an earful and told him who he was,
13:45and he needed to remember that.
13:46So maybe there's a little bit of that going on.
13:48But regardless, the team testing, Jorge believing in himself,
13:51I'll tell you one thing.
13:52You can pull the pictures off the telephone poles.
13:54You can take his picture off of the milk jugs.
13:57Jorge Prado is no longer missing.
13:59He has arrived.
14:00He has held Tomac back.
14:01And he's only three seconds behind the lead right now.
14:03And I cannot express how different he looks on the motorcycle than the eight motos prior.
14:08Yeah, I agree.
14:09And to take it further, I don't think Jorge's been at these first four races.
14:13We've been seeing George out there riding.
14:15Jorge's back.
14:16So it's the first time he showed up all year long.
14:18It's good to see.
14:19But, you know, really, it does come off.
14:22We've got a red cross flag.
14:23Oh, wait.
14:23We've got a roll is jumped.
14:25Red cross flag.
14:26Meanwhile, back to this battle.
14:28This is Justin Cooper and Justin Barsha.
14:31That's eighth and ninth behind Webb.
14:33Closest fight on the track right now.
14:35Look at Jay Cooper on the outside on Barsha.
14:38Oh, that's a brave move right there.
14:39You know, Justin, he's just coming back from injury.
14:41So, you know, normally that pass wouldn't be able to be made.
14:44But, man, I know Justin Cooper is he's obviously he's got a lot of speed.
14:49And this might be a frustrating day to him because every time we've seen him, he's been moving his way up.
14:54But these stars have killed him.
14:55And that's not normal like Justin Cooper.
14:57At least one moto, he gets a good start.
14:58So another bad start for Justin Cooper and making his way up.
15:03And he's going to have to go out this teammate next.
15:05Yep.
15:05They battled a moto one Cooper Webb, Justin Cooper, seventh and eighth.
15:10Oh, hold on to that Cooper Webb.
15:14He had us a tough one.
15:15Then it looks like Justin Cooper goes off the racetracks as well.
15:19Look at Jay Cooper, though.
15:21He's hanging it out.
15:23No, he's looked really aggressive.
15:26And for whatever reason, it seems like the guys who's coming up to the pack, whether it was Joe Shimoda, Tom Vial,
15:31man, they have this riding style that you look at, it's like, man, they look really comfortable and aggressive.
15:37And Justin Cooper is another one where I've seen him today.
15:39It looks like he's hanging it out a lot more and got some pace.
15:42So you just wonder if he was up front what that would do.
15:45Well, you can learn more about these two.
15:48Check out Yamaha's Beyond the Gate.
15:50That is on the At Yamaha Motor USA YouTube channel every week.
15:55And you get the inside look at Yamaha's factory-supported teams.
15:59Again, that's At Yamaha Motor USA YouTube channel.
16:02New shows weekly, including Justin Cooper and Cooper Webb, who probably battled like this a lot during the week at that star racing facility there.
16:12Yeah, you can see Justin Cooper dropping back.
16:15And I do feel like, yeah, Cooper's made that mistake and Justin was able to close up.
16:19And I wouldn't say it's necessarily Cooper picking up the pace, just rather where Justin Cooper knows where he's going to be able to pass him at.
16:25So Justin's been really strong on this side of the racetrack once it opens up, gets closer to the finish line.
16:32So maybe there's an opportunity to make some passes.
16:34We just saw the last lap.
16:36He was able to get around Justin Barsha.
16:38We'll see what happens.
16:39So Hunter Lawrence has caught Tomac here.
16:43They continue to have to roll this jump with the red cross flag out.
16:47So right now, here's how the overall would break down.
16:51It would be Chet Lawrence, Tomac, and Hunter.
16:55One, two, three.
16:56But if Hunter passes Tomac, that could actually put Prado on the overall podium today.
17:02And Hunter's putting in quite a charge.
17:04Yeah, I'm not going to lie.
17:06I'm a little, like, questioning what's going on with Eli.
17:09I mean, you know, he was right there.
17:11And you asked me earlier, was he sitting behind Jorge because Jorge was keeping him?
17:15But now he's ten seconds back.
17:16And a couple laps later, you know, he doesn't even look the same.
17:21So you wonder if it's he just realized Jett's on a different level.
17:25And that might be demoralized.
17:26He demoralized it or maybe something else happened or maybe he hurt himself.
17:30But this is not the Eli that we expected to see, especially after listening to him on that podium.
17:35He knew what he needed to do and he was able to somewhat do that.
17:38But it's a big statement here by Jett Lawrence, depending on what's going to Eli at this moment.
17:45Yeah, we thought Eli might beast mode it here and get stronger late in the race.
17:48But instead, he's going the other direction.
17:50And Hunter Lawrence, he's not going anywhere, keeping the heat on the number three.
17:55Meanwhile, Jett has opened up an 8.6 second gap on Prado.
17:59But I would imagine if you're Prado, that's not demoralizing in the same way of at least this is a massive improvement.
18:06No, and truthfully, the only rider that's probably, you know, it's hurting and being demoralized right now.
18:12And again, Eli's been here, done that.
18:14So, no offense, it is Eli because I feel like Hunter Lawrence, this is a good feeling for him.
18:19If he's able to get around Eli Tomac here at Southwick, that's a benefit.
18:22Jorge, it's a benefit.
18:24And, of course, Jett Lawrence is a benefit.
18:26So, all three of these guys are right here, but all of them are feeling completely different.
18:30Just feel like that number three, there must be something going on because, you know, I don't care beast mode or not.
18:36For him to run down Jett Lawrence, like if he's been saving that up, that would be probably his best ride ever in his whole career.
18:42I don't think Eli's that confidence to be able to give that guy this much gap to be able to pull him down.
18:47Now actually getting Prado back in sight, but here comes the 96 of Hunter.
18:52He's on the inside and makes the move.
18:56That was, like I said, you can tell by his body language, and even right now with Eli, there's definitely something going on.
19:03And, yeah, he looks tired, but I have a hard time believing that he's actually tired at this moment.
19:09So, difficult position.
19:11Now, by the way, over that jump, that red cross flag, that's why they're not clearing that jump.
19:15That is a wheels on the ground flag.
19:16You can't clear the jumps.
19:17So, they momentarily pause the charge, and then it's back up to speed for Hunter.
19:26Could be a Lawrence 1-2 again because now Prado is in his sights.
19:30Yeah, and if you look at the overall, like you said, it moves Jorge up to third position.
19:35And the way he rode that first moto, this is well-deserved if he's somehow able to finish him off, hold on to this position.
19:43Now, I think if Hunter gets Prado, that could put Tomac maybe back up on the podium, depending on how this all shakes out.
19:51Man, the 96 looks good.
19:56Yeah, no, he looks good.
19:58I mean, even that first moto, he looked good.
19:59Yep.
20:00He was just, unfortunately, his brother got out too quickly.
20:03But it just seems like these HRC Honda, these guys done figured out the way to really ride this racetrack by jumping around.
20:10And even Jorge, he looks good.
20:11But, to me, it looks like Hunter's bike's not moving around that much.
20:15He's able to jump just far enough, being really patient in certain parts, and it's just saving a lot of energy.
20:20And the same thing that happened in first moto, Hunter was in a position to save some energy as well because Jet was so far in front.
20:26Hunter had a good gap on third place.
20:28So, maybe these two are probably the most fresh guys out here, and they went one and two that first moto.
20:34And saving some energy again because Jet Lawrence has opened it up to 12 seconds.
20:39So, I'd assume that goes to your point of, yeah, this is not the day to manage the 1.3 second gap.
20:43Not on this track.
20:44He's opening it up at an alarming rate again.
20:47And he is.
20:48And now he has that gap.
20:49And just what we saw with Hayden Deegan and even Jet in that beginning part, first moto, now he's able to really patient and take all the risk out.
20:57If there's some rough parts at his racetrack, he'll just go a little bit slower here.
21:01He can pick his way around this racetrack to where he's saving energy.
21:04And, man, these two motos have been by far the most dominant motos that he's had probably in his 450 career.
21:12He came out here with a point and to have Eli Tomac in third place, Jorge Rotten, as good as he is.
21:18I mean, to pull the gap on this field, I don't even know what to say with this.
21:23This is dominant.
21:23And the domination train continues for him.
21:28So we refocus on this.
21:30Prado versus Hunter Lawrence for second.
21:33And there you see the gap.
21:35JT.
21:35Well, just listening to James there, you know, talking about dominance, and it just feels like Jett's back to 100%.
21:42And I think we were fooled a little bit because he came out, he won right away, and we're like, man, he looks really good.
21:47But this is just the next gear that he has.
21:50And, you know, there are a lot of Tomac fans in this world, me being one of them.
21:53But you just watch Jet ride right now, and he's starting to pull away, and he's gaining more confidence as the rounds go on.
22:00I mean, just wonder, is there a way for anybody to find a way to win here?
22:05Because I just think he's going to get better from here, and that's a very scary thing for 39 other guys.
22:11JT, to that point there, are we seeing Jet in his best light here?
22:16I was talking to his trainer, Johnny O'Meara, and asked him that question earlier.
22:19And he said, yes, as an athlete.
22:21He's like, bike, bike aside, we're in a great place, but we're always working.
22:25We're always going to continue working.
22:26But he said, as an athlete, yes, I believe that you are seeing the best version of Jet Lawrence.
22:30And we're seeing the same sort of healthy version of him that we did see prior to the ACL injury.
22:37Scary thought for everyone if he's getting better halfway through this moto.
22:41Very monitor that Monster Energy available now.
22:45And let's see if Prado can prevent the Lawrence Brothers 1-2.
22:51He certainly watched them quite a bit from afar, racing MXGP.
22:55Now it's going to be one-on-one, and he goes down.
22:57Oh, that's a bummer.
22:58That lap rider was in front, and it looks like Jorge loses the front.
23:02And, man, this is the worst position, because that bike has gotten really heavy at this time of the day.
23:07But they had a pretty gap.
23:09About 10 seconds, 12 seconds on air.
23:11Oh, and that's going to cost him the moto and overall podium should slide Tomek back up there with the Lawrences.
23:20JT.
23:20And one of the things for those who haven't ever been in this position, racing a crash late in a moto like this, and James, you and I both have done this so many times over the course of our life, it's the things you don't think about.
23:32Because as he's going around the track, you know, he's averaging 30, 40 miles an hour, you have this constant breeze.
23:37There's wind always on you, cooling you down.
23:39When you stop and you're standing there and you're trying to pick up a 250-pound motorcycle, you don't get any breeze anymore, and your body temperature immediately shoots up.
23:48And that's the hardest part is to get cooled down, get your body and your heart rate back down to be manageable again.
23:55So you see him shaking his head, his frustration, and it's also his body temperature is skyrocketing in that moment.
24:00Yeah, I mean, I agree.
24:03It's, I mean, and it's weird how it hits you.
24:06It's like an instant stop, and for sure, Jorge, how's good he's been rotting.
24:11I don't care if he pulls off the racetrack at this point.
24:13I mean, it's been a successful day for him, and I think he can just continue going.
24:16But definitely going to be hard to recover after that with all that heat.
24:22I'll tell you who's recovered here, James Stewart.
24:25Eli Tomek's back.
24:26He started to close back in on Hunter Lawrence, and he was three-tenths of a second faster the last time around.
24:32I don't know what happened there for a few laps, but he's going fast again.
24:37Yeah, I bet, like, maybe the mechanics or Eli saw something, but this was really pride kicking in
24:42because, you know, Eli's goal is not to beat Hunter Lawrence and get second place.
24:46His goal is to run with Jet Lawrence.
24:48So, you know, I don't feel like he was sitting back and just like,
24:52all right, I'm going to just make my way and just get second.
24:54There was probably some little bit of frustration going on watching Jet Lawrence pull away from him,
24:59and for whatever reason, he couldn't do anything with Jorge Prada.
25:02So now he starts dropping back, and that's not the Eli that we've seen for the last few years.
25:07So I'm sure this is a little bit of pride kicking in.
25:10Realize that this championship is still far from over,
25:13and, you know, we don't want to see those signs of where he goes missing at this point.
25:17So long race, he's got a long time to see if he can work on Hunter Lawrence.
25:23But there's just certain areas that watching Eli ride and even with Hunter that I see with Jet.
25:28Jet's just really attacking his racetrack, how he's just jumping out a little bit farther.
25:32That really makes the race a lot easier for Jet Lawrence.
25:36And unfortunate for these guys, they can't see that until they go back and watch the race tomorrow.
25:40But they'll see where Jet's really making his time up.
25:43But if you look overall as fast as lap time, I mean, Jorge with Eli, they're within a second.
25:48So it's not like he's going three, four seconds faster.
25:50But over time, jumping far and really picking his racetrack out has really gotten Jet that gap.
25:55And that's going to be frustrating for all those other guys.
25:58This battle here is Plessinger and Hampshire running fourth and fifth.
26:04These guys ride and train together during the week.
26:06So it's probably a familiar situation for them also to be season best for RJ already in fifth.
26:14He's had a lot of sixth place finishes this year.
26:16He's fifth, but he wants fourth.
26:19Good to get him in this mix.
26:21Remember, we have the story that it's been the same top five overall in every race this year.
26:27Prado is currently fifth overall.
26:29So he's going to break that because Justin Cooper is at some bad starts today.
26:34RJ Hampshire showing he can run with that group.
26:36Yeah, RJ has been looking really good all day long.
26:39I mean, to me, he's another guy that's been charging.
26:41And ever since he got on his 450, we were talking about him earlier.
26:45So maybe I'll just calm down a little bit because we were talking about it and he fell over.
26:48But, you know, I talked to him in between the race and he said he's just more comfortable.
26:53And they made some changes on the motorcycle.
26:55He felt better.
26:56And you can start to see it.
26:57And, you know, like you mentioned, like he gets used to riding with Aaron Plessinger.
27:01So at some point, you know, you just want to go get, I would say, his teammate, a rotten competitor.
27:06And he knows, you know, hey, Aaron's this close to him.
27:09Maybe I'll be able to get him.
27:10But I believe RJ and the Husqvarna team has stepped it up.
27:14And it's good to see him out here.
27:15Maybe he can break that spell at top five.
27:17Yeah, surprised to see Justin Cooper as the one who might not be able to keep that end of the bargain going
27:25as far as the same five being top five at every race because he was so fast this morning.
27:30But a rare day of two bad starts.
27:32So he's fired at seventh.
27:34Even with the crash, Prado is sixth ahead of him.
27:37And then just ahead of that, these two.
27:40And what do you see in here?
27:45How much, how much gas is left in the figurative tank?
27:49Well, I think I would say Aaron, the lights on at this point.
27:54The lights on because if he's not, yeah, when you saw him land off that drop, he almost hit his head on the crossbar pad.
28:00So, yeah, I know there's some breaking bumps out here, but that body's starting to feel.
28:04And, and again, that's kind of, that's expected here at Southwick.
28:07He's still fighting.
28:09He's going to have some motivation fighting against his teammate and RJ, but yeah, the gaslight zone for sure.
28:15Meanwhile, Anderson, Jason Anderson, who will talk to between motos, he has pulled out of this moto,
28:21dealing with the stomach issue, throwing up in the races, tried, not going to be able to finish this one.
28:26Made it 20 minutes.
28:28Plessinger still digging.
28:30Actually opened it back up.
28:31As quickly as we were sitting here talking about Aaron and how quickly RJ got to him, you know, you look at that gap and it's been like that all day long.
28:40Guys, once they close in him, that gap just stretches out.
28:43So, yeah, it seems like if Aaron would just jump out another 10 feet, it would make that racetrack so much easier.
28:50It would be a lot smoother and that momentum would carry up.
28:52But, again, you know, not picking on him because, look, I've been in that same spot.
28:56It's just hindsight.
28:58You can kind of see it from this point of view, and it makes life easier for these guys.
29:04JT.
29:05Well, for AP here, James, you know, I watch him ride here.
29:08It's not like he's doing poorly.
29:09He's in fourth place.
29:11But I think AP is the classic example of a guy who really didn't grow up in the sand.
29:14Oh, JT, maybe the lack of experience showing there.
29:18We're cursing everyone with the announcer's curse today.
29:21Yeah, no, that wasn't JT.
29:23But I can tell when you saw when AP fell, he slid down.
29:26It was like he was in slow motion at that point.
29:29That body and that sudden heat that hits you, it's tough, JT.
29:34Yeah, and the point I was going to make before I jinxed him there was he just looks like a guy who is incredibly good
29:39but is not a naturally gifted sand rider.
29:42Like, he's just fighting the motorcycle.
29:43He's fighting the racetrack.
29:45Because you think about a race like High Point, you think about Colorado, he was working with the racetrack.
29:50He looked so comfortable, and this is the exact episode of that, and now he's got Jorge Pryor to contend with.
29:56Yep, they're all passing him now as that humidity catches up, and you can see the aggression is gone, and here comes Justin Cooper.
30:04Yeah, I mean, and when we talk about that heat and that Kawasaki signs the Supercross,
30:09this is what they're talking about, how that body reacts when the heat and all that stuff gets to him.
30:14Because I'm sure Aaron at this point started to feel lightheaded, like, you know, things that hit him.
30:19And, you know, that fall really just kind of caused that because he was already on the limit, as all these guys is.
30:25But when you stop, you got to pick that bike up.
30:27It's really hard for him, but it shows you how dedicated all these athletes are, because he'll recover,
30:33and he'll still stay out here for this moto, and, man, that's just tough.
30:39So we'll review some of these errors here.
30:41That's what's allowing Jacob to move toward the front.
30:44Here's Prado's troubles.
30:45This is the first moto battling with Tomac over the bars.
30:51Yeah, he loses that front.
30:52I actually believe his front end went over that berm, that one.
30:57And then here, moto two, running second.
31:02Yeah, it looked like he actually might have ran into that lap rod,
31:06or he was trying to get out of that rut that was built.
31:08But either way, two costly mistakes, because, I mean, he was riding really good.
31:12But still, still two crashes, got the fight on really tough conditions.
31:19I mean, if you hear Kawasaki, you see how Jorge jumped out that distance.
31:23That's where I was mentioning with Aaron and those guys, and even Jorge came up shorter.
31:27So if he jumped out another half a foot, it would be a lot smoother.
31:29But what it really helps him, one, it's a lot smoother, because you are jumping,
31:33but it carries your momentum up, so you don't have to pick that speed back up
31:36and fight that next corner.
31:38So it makes that whole section a lot easier.
31:40Like I said, a lot easier on this side of things.
31:43It's just the difference between what you're seeing from these guys and Jet Lawrence,
31:46and I think that's where that gap really comes from,
31:48that 15-second lead this guy's got over these guys.
31:51Prado getting through lap traffic while dealing with the pressure of Justin Cooper.
31:55They just got around Josh Toth, who we mentioned earlier.
31:59It's the Rocky Mountain ATV MC Privateer of the week.
32:02Gets extra $2,000 to the local.
32:04But he's an off-road racer.
32:05Won the big GNCC at Snowshoe Mountain last week,
32:08but wanted to come out and race his local motocross qualified.
32:11The tilt is in 27th.
32:13They also just got around Joey Crown,
32:15who was once a big-time prospect for Kawasaki as an amateur,
32:19was into retirement.
32:20He's coming back to race here and next week at Red Bud.
32:23Crown now a lap down.
32:24And through that, Prado is having to negotiate those riders.
32:28Justin Cooper just not giving up.
32:31Bottom box is the leader, Jet Lawrence, who has lap traffic.
32:34More of it to deal with.
32:37Yeah, I mean, all these guys are out here surviving.
32:41And one guy that looks like he's having fun,
32:42I would say two guys, both Lawrence, Hunter, and Jet.
32:46I mean, Hunter was able to get around, I mean, pull away from Eli Tomac,
32:50actually passed him earlier, now getting a five-second gap on him.
32:53And Jet looks like he's having a Saturday cruise out here.
32:57It's a big day for all these guys.
33:00No cruise for J. Coop, though.
33:03He is powering down to try to get Prado.
33:09And he's currently tied for sixth overall with Hampshire.
33:13Hampshire has the edge, so this would move him to sixth
33:16if he could make this pass.
33:17But I don't know if it has anything to do with that.
33:19You just see someone in front of him
33:21and just wants to make moves.
33:23Yeah, he wants to make moves.
33:25And, you know, sometimes you can feel it out
33:27and you've got a guy in front of you.
33:28But I would say J. Coop hasn't raced this, you know,
33:32he's been racing George, not Jorge.
33:34So for him, again, I still say this is a good win
33:38for Monster Energy Kawasaki and stuff like that.
33:41And J. Coop, it's going to be a good day the way he rode,
33:44but really just difficult position for him to be in,
33:48given all that track position up those first few laps.
33:51Yeah, not the typical good start for him,
33:53but there he is right there on Prado's rear wheel now.
33:58This is for fifth.
33:59Hampshire's fourth.
34:02Plessy goes behind him because he crashed.
34:06Yeah, J. Coop knows, like,
34:07all right, if I can get Jorge now,
34:10I might be able to pull away from him
34:12because I don't think Jorge have too much fight.
34:13There you go.
34:14No fight.
34:15So J. Coop makes a pass into fifth.
34:20And he's still going to miss that top five overall.
34:25It'll still be fifth for Prado
34:27that's going to break that string
34:29with the same five.
34:32So Lawrence's, Tomac, Plessinger, and Justin Cooper,
34:34they've been top five in every race this year.
34:39It's going to be fourth overall now for Cooper.
34:41Wow, that changed in a hurry.
34:43Yeah.
34:45A couple guys go down.
34:46There you see on the left side.
34:47That's the overall.
34:49Lawrence, Lawrence, Tomac.
34:52Justin Cooper now tied with Prado,
34:54but the tiebreaker is that pass, second moto.
34:57Yes, overall, I mean,
34:58kind of where he's been at all year long.
35:01Yep, good start, bad start.
35:04Now here's something incredible, James.
35:07I don't know if it's good news that you want to hear,
35:08but if Jet Lawrence holds on to win this overall,
35:11I mean, it's 20th career win.
35:13It's going to tie you for eighth all time
35:16in this 450 class.
35:18It's happening in a hurry.
35:19Yeah, I feel like we had such a good flow going today.
35:22Okay.
35:22It's just kind of something.
35:24Yeah, I mean, but look.
35:25Something changed.
35:26Hey, you know what?
35:28I mean, when the guy wins,
35:29what, it'd be 20 out of 21?
35:31Yes.
35:31The way he does,
35:32I mean, eventually the record was coming down.
35:34So, man, I'm just impressed watching the kid ride.
35:38And I would say, again,
35:39this is probably the most dominant ride that he's had
35:42his whole career, by far the best.
35:44And just like we talk about in Supercross,
35:47going to somebody else's favorite track,
35:49I believe he showed up here,
35:51meaning business life,
35:52and he gave him boys business so far today
35:55if he can keep it going.
35:58One other story I want to tell.
35:59They were lapping, let's see,
36:01214 to the Lawrences right now.
36:03Tomek at 218.
36:05Qualifying, they were running 201
36:07was the fast time for Justin Cooper.
36:10Just talk about that.
36:12Yeah, I mean, this track breaks down,
36:14and we saw from the advantage that you can get
36:17from being the, you know, the beat practice,
36:20like we like to say,
36:20these guys have an opportunity to get out on the track,
36:22and how smooth it is.
36:23But, yeah, a lot of that goes for the track,
36:25super rough.
36:26And this is the only racetrack you'll go to
36:28all year long that you'll see the differences
36:29in lap times.
36:31And, one, the track has gotten a lot rougher.
36:35That's one.
36:36But all tracks do that.
36:37They all start off smooth.
36:39But I really think it comes down to just the fitness
36:41and just how hard it is to race this racetrack.
36:44And not only you're dealing with all the bumps,
36:46but you're dealing with the bike moving quite a bit
36:49because it is so hard pack and, you know, slippery.
36:52So, just a lot of mental power.
36:54I think that's the lap times, Jay.
36:56Yeah.
36:57Justin Cooper, 19 seconds slower than he was in qualifying.
37:00That's not him.
37:00That's the track.
37:01This battle, now you've got Plessinger and Webb
37:04with Prado in sight.
37:05But Webb versus Plessinger is big.
37:08Justin Cooper, Webb, and Plessinger are 1-2-3
37:11in the SMX combined playoff rankings.
37:15Webb's ahead of them.
37:16But they keep closing the gap.
37:19Yeah, and I believe this would change that fourth place
37:22overall position because they're all tied at this point too.
37:25Oh, that's right.
37:25They can take points away from Prado.
37:28Let's take her on the inside.
37:29Look at Webb.
37:31Hey, this is Cooper Webb.
37:32So, again, the last guy, just like Supercross,
37:35the last guy you want to have to deal with
37:36at the end of the race.
37:37And, you know, I'm sure Aaron's going to look back,
37:40see that number two, but, man, here we go again.
37:42So, Cooper Webb charging.
37:45Lap and a half to go at Southwick.
37:47Makes the pass.
37:49Yeah, I mean, he sees the number 70 in front.
37:51You know, Cooper's going to try to go out to him.
37:53And where was this Cooper Webb all day?
37:58Now, really, these last two laps has uncorked it.
38:02But he was good, but this is great.
38:03But isn't this Cooper Webb, though?
38:04Yeah.
38:05Like, exactly him.
38:06You'd be like, where was this guy?
38:08And all of a sudden, we've been talking about how good
38:09Jorge's been riding all day long.
38:11And that number two, pesky old number two,
38:14just comes through with the dab vibe,
38:15come through, like, I'm going to give you guys out of business.
38:17But I mean, it shows you, man, that Cooper's a champion
38:19and it doesn't matter what position it is.
38:21He always goes out there and he races to compete.
38:25I love it.
38:27White flag should be coming out here.
38:29There's the gap.
38:30Actually, as they battled each other,
38:32Prado answered the call, pulled back away just a tad.
38:40Yeah, Cooper knows he's got to, you know, laugh and have
38:43to kind of get him back.
38:45If he can kind of keep Jorge inside, keep this gap,
38:48then I believe he'll really go after him
38:50that last lap for sure.
38:51White flag now out for the Lawrence's up front.
39:00Oh, Webb's still lurking.
39:07Oh, the foot came off right there.
39:10It's hanging on his bike.
39:12Something hanging.
39:13Yeah, on the bottom there.
39:15Yeah, even the bike's got the tongue out the chain, right?
39:17Okay, so there's Jett Lawrence.
39:22He looks fine.
39:23Yeah, and you saw over our drone shot right there
39:27where Jett jumped out.
39:28You know, again, man, I think it just shows you how focused and talented this kid is.
39:35Just all these little bit of jumps and hopping around this racetrack.
39:39I mean, that just takes dedication and talent, but also, you know, studying this racetrack
39:44and kind of knowing, you know, these musicians and really kind of changing that up.
39:49I mean, this is poetry in motion.
39:52We just saw Cooper Webb go through that same section.
39:54It looked like Cooper was in a whole different zip code,
39:56and this guy's just cruising.
39:58Last lap on the way at another 1-1.
40:02Dominant.
40:02Dominant.
40:03You say maybe his best ride ever?
40:05Yeah.
40:05That's what you said.
40:06Yeah, just some of the circumstances.
40:08And, you know, you can look at it and you'd be like,
40:11all right, all of a sudden, is he going,
40:13does he got a lot more speed than these guys?
40:15Well, when you look at the lap times,
40:17say it's the same speed that he has over these guys all year long,
40:20but just the way, the reason I say this is more of a dominant
40:23is because we know there are certain tracks, Hangtown, you know,
40:27Southwick, where Eli Tomek is his biggest threat coming into this.
40:31And it just seems like when, just like, hey, Deegan at a 250 class,
40:34when anybody has, he goes to a place where they think they might have a chance,
40:37this dude just shows up.
40:39And the way he did it today by being super quick in the beginning part of the
40:43race is really impressive because that's not normally how he does it.
40:47But just over time, like, you just watch this guy build up.
40:51They were close to him.
40:52And all of a sudden, it gets up to 10 seconds.
40:54I mean, it's 20 seconds, 32 seconds over Eli Tomek on Southwick,
40:57second moto, and he looks like he's on the Sunday cruise.
41:00So, you're asking me, this is by far his dominant ride
41:02and the most complete I've seen this guy ride on his 450 career.
41:07Well, that's impressive if you are that impressed,
41:10but the numbers don't lie.
41:11Big gaps in both motos.
41:13Jet Lawrence, 1-1 on Southwick.
41:19Absolute domination for the number 18.
41:22And the cherry on the Sunday.
41:26Lawrence's and Honda going to go 1-2 in both motos.
41:29Yeah, good ride by Hunter.
41:33Making those passes after getting passed early.
41:37Got to be impressed with the HRC Honda guys and Eli Tomek.
41:41I think this is going to be a little head-scratcher for him.
41:46I'm curious of what happened.
41:48Yep.
41:49Ends up being a distant third.
41:51Had that one little surge get back to Hunter at one point,
41:53but he's going to be 12 seconds behind him at the end.
41:57The never-ending charge for Cooper Webb
42:00will get you back in touch with that.
42:03Prado is up the road now about six seconds.
42:06There you see them still battling.
42:08Checkered flag is waving.
42:12Racers are racers, man.
42:13Yeah.
42:14No matter what position it is,
42:15they're going for it right down to the wire.
42:17Yeah, and again, we've been talking about it all day,
42:20but I do want to give Jorge a shout-out, man.
42:23I mean, I know I've been in that position
42:25and actually came to this track in 05,
42:27and because of what happened their first three rounds,
42:29I couldn't even finish this race
42:30because I was so demoralized, though.
42:32Not being able to win, and it was such a change for me.
42:34So for him to be out here fighting,
42:36especially what we saw a couple weekends ago,
42:38shout-out to him, the whole Kawasaki team.
42:40I know a lot of those guys over there.
42:41They put the effort into it,
42:43no matter what the results say,
42:44and I'm just happy to see this whole team
42:46just have some success with them.
42:49So good job, Jorge.
42:52Absolutely a sign of life there for Prado,
42:54who is fast in qualifying and in both motos today,
42:57and Cooper Webb showing his old grit,
42:59and that could help him in the SMX points
43:02when we combine Supercross and Motocross together
43:05because he did best at least Plessinger in that one.
43:09And look at that.
43:10Overall wins in this Premier Class all-time.
43:14Jeff's now tied with you.
43:15And moving up on Ken Roxton.
43:16You guys still could have put me, like, ahead of him.
43:19That would have been, like, cool.
43:22It's like second moto, the most recent finish.
43:24Yeah, okay.
43:25Sorry, I don't know.
43:26Maybe we went to record book on that.
43:27Well-deserved.
43:27Ken, you better watch out.
43:28He might be after you next week.
43:30Great job by all these guys.
43:31Jet launch.
43:32Congratulations.
43:32The ProMotoCross Championship is fueled by Monster Energy Unleash the Beast
43:45and by Honda and the dominant line of CRF motocrossers.
43:50So that's it.
43:54Yes, dominant line of Hondas.
43:56Well, that was the case today.
43:571-2 in both motos.
43:58We'll see.
43:59It could change.
44:00We head to Redbud next weekend.
44:02Sandy, but not like this at Southwick.
44:05Jet Lawrence puts it to everyone today with a 1-1 and 5-0 on overalls here in 2025.
44:13Let's check in with the 18 down to the podium.
44:27Let's get the reaction time off the start.
44:29Now he's ready for the podium.
44:30There we go.
44:38Jet, you take your time coming up to the podium, but not out there on the track.
44:42Congratulations.
44:43Unbelievable day.
44:45You're 5-0 on the season now.
44:46We're approaching that halfway point.
44:48How important is it to you to win the way you did today at this point in the season?
44:54I just got to focus on each race.
44:56That's all I can do.
44:57You can't go forwards and start thinking championship and stuff like that.
45:01Just take each race as it comes and just focus on that.
45:06But no, good day.
45:08It's definitely no highway for sure.
45:11It keeps your legs moving.
45:12But no, good day.
45:13HJ second with a 2-2.
45:15So that's awesome for Honda.
45:17But I just want to thank the crowd for sticking out here.
45:19It's not easy to stay out here.
45:20So thanks to the crowd.
45:22Thanks to my team.
45:24They're working hard as always.
45:25Thanks to Red Bull.
45:27100%.
45:27Our point star.
45:28Everyone who supports our team and supports me and my brother to get where we are and to race on the race day.
45:33Just thank you to them.
45:34And no, another thank you to the crowd.
45:36They're awesome.
45:37Before I let you go, James Stewart in the booth is taking a little moment because what you've just done today has tied him for wins.
45:45So a little word for James in the booth as you are.
45:48Hey, I'm not only coming to you in scores, James, but I'm coming for you on the golf course as well, brother.
45:55I'll be happy when I beat him there.
45:57There are his numbers.
45:58But on the course, those numbers count.
45:59So we'll see you there on the course, James.
46:02The moment you can feel a bit better.
46:03Thanks.
46:04Congratulations.
46:05Yeah, you're on top.
46:06But, I mean, you should just keep it on the track.
46:08Keep it on the track, son.
46:09Keep it on track, bro.
46:11Okay.
46:12Just keep it on the track.
46:13At least showing confidence.
46:14Showing confidence.
46:15I mean, hey, you got those guys covered.
46:17But beautiful.
46:20We'll show you how Jet got win number 20.
46:23Monster Energy race recap.
46:24Jorge Prado on the 70.
46:26He wanted this start badly.
46:27He wasn't relenting.
46:30Yeah, I think Jet kind of knew.
46:31Let him run in there deep.
46:32He'll get a little bit of wide.
46:33But, you know, for Jorge, it was, you know, good starts today.
46:37Good rides all day long.
46:38But Jet Lawrence is out front where he was that first photo.
46:41And it was, I mean, it was clinical.
46:44Both these guys.
46:44They kept him close early in the race.
46:46It looked like Eli was able to get around Hunter Lawrence here early in the moto, this first lap.
46:50And Jorge was keeping Jet within a couple seconds.
46:53So you were just kind of waiting to see if this thing would play out.
46:56But nonetheless, yeah.
46:59Things didn't work out for Eli Tomek as he gets passed back by Jorge.
47:03I mean, excuse me, Hunter Lawrence here for third place.
47:06Jorge was running second.
47:07Hunter Lawrence was right behind him.
47:08Then you see a lap rider.
47:09I think Jorge got a little bit confused and then ends up going down.
47:13But still a good day by him to get back up and finish sixth place.
47:16But he was in second.
47:18Tough break for him.
47:19Yeah.
47:19He'd eventually end up in sixth.
47:21Aaron Plessinger, then he has his problems as well.
47:24Yeah.
47:25Aaron, he was starting to feel a little bit.
47:27I don't mean to laugh at my cowboy boy.
47:30But, you know, I've been there a bunch of times.
47:32It's Southwick.
47:32It just eventually gets to him.
47:33And as JT said, it's that sudden stop that heat gets to you and get you.
47:38But the only person that was really bringing the heat was his 18 today.
47:41This was a dominating victory.
47:44And, you know, I love his answer.
47:46Like, oh, we just focused on this.
47:48Just focus one race at a time.
47:49Because, you know, this race, it was time you let loose.
47:53You let him know today.
47:54No doubt about it.
47:55Big gaps in both motos.
47:57Hunter Lawrence, a great day.
47:582-2.
47:59And Tomac will go 3-3.
48:00So the overall math is easy.
48:02Cooper and Prado, top five.
48:04So a big step forward for the number 70.
48:08Let's go back down to the podium.
48:10Talk to Lawrence.
48:17Well, Hunter Lawrence, 2-2 on the day.
48:19Really strong.
48:20And you showed a lot of resilience in that second moto.
48:22Being able to move forward.
48:24And it seems like you're making progress on yourself and on the motorcycle.
48:27Can you feel that progress kind of starting to show up on Saturdays?
48:30Yeah.
48:31Yeah, absolutely, mate.
48:32Just been working hard on the career team.
48:36Just putting in the work, mate.
48:38Trying to get stronger and always improve.
48:40And the team's helped us out a lot on the bike.
48:42The bike's in a better spot.
48:43And I'm continuing to get in a better spot.
48:45And, yeah, it'd be nice to.
48:46But I'm getting sick of 18 up on the top.
48:49So it'd be nice to try and nab that off him one time soon.
48:52We get another shot at it next Saturday at Red Bud.
48:55Amen.
48:55I can tell if Malcolm was getting at me like that, there would be some family issues.
49:03I would have some issues at home for sure.
49:06Somebody's probably going to rip that quote out of context and probably trying to make
49:09some issues there.
49:10But we know they're friendly off the track, no doubt.
49:13They're the brothers.
49:13But, yes, incredibly, Hunter is still yet to get an overall win.
49:19And they're good.
49:22In 450 motocross, Hunter's still waiting on his first one.
49:25And now he's starting to catch Tobac for second in the championship.
49:29Only five points behind as you look at the standings here.
49:32Klessinger back to fourth.
49:33And Justin Cooper, fifth.
49:35Hampshire, Webb, Savace, Prado, and Anderson inside the top ten.
49:40Rough day for Anderson, who is under the weather, not able to score points today.
49:44All right.
49:45Going to be interesting to hear what Eli Tomac has to say.
49:47So let's check in with the three.
49:54Eli, congratulations on the overall podium.
49:56Two-thirds, you kept yourself well in the mix there today.
49:59But Southwick being as strong a track as it is for you, I know you're not going home with
50:04a massive smile on your face.
50:05What stood between you and that top spot today?
50:08Well, just Jet and Hunter riding better.
50:11They had a pretty amazing flow around that track.
50:13You know, when I was able to ride behind them, they had some super good lines.
50:16So I just needed to be a better rider today.
50:18Still had a lot of fun out there, but, of course, wanted a little more.
50:21That's how it goes.
50:22So we'll keep grinding, try to get better.
50:24Thank you, Monster Energy Star Yamaha and everyone out here at Southwick.
50:27The crowd appreciated.
50:28We'll see you at Redburn.
50:29Congratulations.
50:29Well, Eli straight up today.
50:36Got to admit that.
50:38Hey, the road to the SMX playoffs is underway.
50:40That could change things.
50:4128 regular season Supercross and Motive Cross events lead to the playoffs getting underway in
50:45September.
50:46The best racers in the world competing in the most daring form of motorsport for that
50:51sports ultimate prize.
50:52It's SMX Playoff Round 1 at Z-Max Dragway in Charlotte, September 6th.
50:57The following weekend is going to be round two.
51:00This will be a new one after the Charlotte race, which has run all three years of the playoffs.
51:04The Dome in St. Louis that has hosted a lot of great history in Supercross.
51:08And then the finals for the second year in a row, the world championship handed out in the strip in Las Vegas, September 20th.
51:14Be there when history happens.
51:15Be there when history happens.
51:15The SMX playoffs coming this fall.
51:18We've been talking quite a bit about Cooper Webb holding the gap, but it's getting ever so much closer.
51:31Justin Cooper out pointing him today.
51:34Now has it down to nearly a 30-point lead.
51:38Aaron Plessinger, their third ranked.
51:40Jett Lawrence up to sixth overall.
51:43And the rumor is we might see Chase Sexton back next weekend at Redbug.
51:48That would be interesting.
51:49Yeah.
51:50Zero in MX points right now.
51:51Yeah.
51:52I think that would probably change here soon.
51:54Yep.
51:55Well, that would be awesome to get Sexton, the defending champion, back seven days from now.
51:59We hope so.
52:01Let's go back down to the podium.
52:03Thank you, Jason.
52:04And Justin Cooper, we're used to seeing you up front on the starts today.
52:08Not so much.
52:09And it certainly hindered your results because this pace seemed really good.
52:11What was going on, though, behind the gate?
52:13Because that is not like you.
52:15Yeah.
52:15First moto, I just flinked at the gate.
52:17So kind of missed the timing there and got pretty much just stopped in the first turn.
52:23So, yeah, even the second moto start wasn't great.
52:26I don't really know what happened there.
52:27But it's a bummer.
52:29Just had to work really hard today.
52:31And, yeah, it was a solid day.
