00:00Is demands proportionate to its value? I make this simple for you. Is Victor Osimei a superstar?
00:07Yes, he is. You know what a superstar means? It's not just about your performance on the pitch,
00:11it's also about your commercial viability. I'll ask you practically, how many shirts will
00:18Manchester United, as an example, sell? And how much do they make from that, from their UK store
00:26of Victor Osimei? I feel like if we are really judging Osimei based on that alone,
00:31I feel it's kind of wrong. What do I mean? Let's look at the recent reality. The current club of
00:37players we have, how many of them can pull the financial aspect or business aspect like Osimei?
00:43Okay, who are the top strikers we have on board? We have Sesco, we have Yoko Res, we have, I think
00:49all of them are Victors. Victor Osimei is having an incredible holiday and he played in the Williams
00:56Trist Ekong Foundation novelty match and starred among some other celebrities, but his future
01:02is still uncertain. In this video, we will chat the course as he assesses his options for the next club
01:08he will be playing for, potentially in Europe. Here's a new edition of The Not Meg. My name is
01:14Aaron Dishwad, bid you welcome.
01:21Alright, I'm joined by the guys here in the studio. Victor Osimei is the topic. I've got guests
01:25and Kay is back on the show. Just as much as Ogan is and great to have you guys. And Victor Osimei is
01:31enjoying his only day. We saw videos, pictures of him on social media, but his future still remains
01:37uncertain. Wow, it's always a pleasure to be on The Not Meg. And like you said, Osimei's future
01:44is still quite undecided, but then it's all in the time. Let's allow him to enjoy him. How about
01:48what will you say Ogan? Alright, thank you very much. Of course, we don't know the next step, but I believe
01:54that his contingents are putting things in place, trying to push. We know the reason why his future
02:04is not decided yet. But like every player would say, when they are not decisive about their future,
02:10I say, I'm on holiday. When I come back, I know the next step. But that is what we really need to
02:16discuss guys, because we know that the Saudi Arabian pro league teams, they approached him
02:22on multiple occasions. But it seemed at some point that he was going to accept the offer, but at the
02:30end of the day, he didn't. Right? Yeah. And now where does that leave us? You see, for someone like
02:36Osimei, at this stage, at this time, is at the peak of his career. We are not expecting him to go
02:42to Saudi, to go and play Saudi pro league. No, nobody sees anyone there as it were. They are just
02:50coming into the limelight because of the old players who have made achievements here in Europe before
02:57going to Saudi pro league. So someone like that is at the peak of his game, you know, at his career.
03:02And, you know, see how many goals he scored last season. So you don't expect someone like that to
03:07now go into Saudi pro league. So I'm one person that is not in support of him going to Saudi pro league
03:13as it were. Okay, Fabi, he had a big offer, reported the door, about a million euros per week
03:21in 2023. There was another offer, but we can't report figures in 2024. This is 2025. If money is the
03:28priority for Osimei, why do you not move? Well, I feel maybe the media, you know, the English guys or
03:34even the Syria teams are misquoting, you know, this out of proportion. With what Fabrizio said,
03:41even before they all went on the holiday, the offer was on the table for him to go to, you know,
03:46Saudi. And like Ogan said, Saudi is a retirement home. It's not how we want to take it. It is. And
03:55this is a guy scoring on, you know, across us. I mean, look, look at, look at the season at Galatasaray.
04:01He's just 26 years of age. How would such talent now be, you know, going all the way to, to Saudi?
04:08For me, I don't think the issue with Osimei is really the wages. I do not think so because
04:15there is much more to it to this. I was speaking on a radio show, you know, just last week, and it
04:20was this same Osimei transfer issue. And what was the focal point of discussion? I feel like
04:26he needs to change his agents. I don't know who is representing him as a stance. Maybe if we dig
04:31deeper and all that, but I feel they are not doing enough. I referenced Adebayo when Adebayo was
04:37playing. Adebayo was not the best talent. Yes, he's a nice striker, but look at the caliber of teams.
04:44Look at the caliber of teams Adebayo have played for. Yeah. So for me, I feel it's not about the wages per se.
04:48I feel there are things we are not really talking about. The back scene, backstage,
04:52that agents of a team. He needs to really change it for me.
04:56All right. In as much as I go with some of those things you've said, I also feel that
05:03the reason why we are having this issue of Osimei going to clubs or not going to club is because of
05:08his wages. See what he's requesting for. With Ed from Fabizio, one of the most reliable source for
05:15transfer has said that he wants to earn 12 million in a year. And that's net earning.
05:21Net earning. And that does about 350 per week. Per week. Yeah. So, and we know, we see, we see,
05:29check the top five clubs, top five leagues that could, you know, get Osimei. He's a top striker.
05:34They want him. But the only team, the only league that can actually sign Osimei is the Premier League.
05:40Realistically. And if you look at them, many of them are trying to cut down their wages.
05:45Many of them are trying to cut down the wages of the players. And still, they do not want to pay
05:50that particular amount. Okay. Okay. Let's reach another crocs in this conversation, guys.
05:54It's fine. It's fine and fair to some that he demands this amount of money. There are different
06:00sides to this divide. Yeah. Right? Some people are saying, yeah, it's worth it. But then, let's
06:06look at it in terms of business. Is demands proportionate to its value? I'll make this
06:12simple for you. Is Victor Osimei a superstar? Yes. He is. You know what a superstar means?
06:18It's not just about your performance on the pitch. It's also about your commercial viability.
06:23I'll ask you practically. Okay. How many shares will Manchester United, as an example, sell? And how much
06:32do they make from that? From their UK store of Victor Osimei? Do you think they'll make enough?
06:37Because when teams give you these wages, they also want to get something back. Right? And there's
06:43no question about Victor Osimei's status in Nigerian football. There's no question about his status
06:48and what he can do on the pitch. But off the pitch, making money is a big deal for these clubs as well.
06:54Well, just to, you know, buttress or coming from that point. For me, I feel like what we are looking
07:01at in this is that, okay, now, Man United, let's consider Man United, for example, now buying Osimei
07:07and then how many of his shares are they able to sell? So you're viewing as, okay, is that another
07:13reason? Maybe one of the reasons why they are not really pushing to sign him. But then, like I said,
07:18you know, in my previous chats about this topic, I feel like if we are really judging Osimei based
07:24on that alone, I feel it's kind of wrong. What do I mean? Let's look at the recent reality. The
07:30current club of players we have, how many of them can pull the financial aspect or business aspect
07:37like Osimei? Okay, who are the top strikers we have on board? We have Sesco, we have Yoko Res,
07:42we have, I think a lot of them are Victors. So what do I mean now? We have Victor Osimei,
07:51but for me, I'm not really seeing it as the issue of this sales off pitch. Maybe the how to bust
07:58deal, I'm still referring to that. Some managers are so like a tater. So final word organ, because
08:04we say tantalizing prospect on the global scale, we're talking about commercial because this matters
08:10to the clubs. Yes, I could say that a little bit of the commercial aspect when it comes to the Africa
08:17setting. When it comes to Africa, Osimei is, of course, he was an African best player. And we could
08:25say that, yes, he would bring the fan base more, increase the fan base more in Africa, but in Europe,
08:33you know, paying that amount of money. The sincere truth is that they do more. We watch more, but they put
08:39more funds into this. Exactly. And they have to get something back. Yes, they have to get something.
08:43I think that's why it's difficult. And that's why teams are trying to train their way to be.
08:48Before we go here, let's look at this. Everywhere Osimei has been to is a fan favorite. Absolutely.
08:54So I think if you're even bringing that on board here, that should be an interesting point for you,
09:00because definitely I can bet with you that if any of these English guys, by mistake or by error,
09:05signs Osimei, you will be amazed at the level of interest that other clubs and even fans will,
09:13you know, be interested in getting Osimei. Osimei carries the pool. He has it. And this is not about
09:19being an African guy. It's because of what he has done. Everywhere he's gone. Look at Napoli. Yeah.
09:23Look at Galatasaray. They love him. They love him. So he's going to carry, the energy is there.
09:28And I feel the energy is going to be transited even into business. People will want to buy his jersey.
09:34So that is not the issue. For me, there are a lot of behind the scenes that we are not really seeing.
09:39Well, we'll see what happens at the end of the summer. The summer is quite long. He's taking his
09:44time to assess his options. He's enjoying his holidays as well. Yeah. And I wish him the very best.
09:49That's a fellow Nigerian. As a football fan and a spot lover, Victor Osimei is a figure that deserves that
09:57much attention. But thank you very much for watching this edition of The Nutmeg. You can be
