00:51pictures I don't even know how we found it but like people say I don't have to grind an hour and a

00:56half traffic rain to get here and there it is that is what I drove for in Chicago which is hard to find

01:02like a good looking pizza now the owner's not here I just met his wife along with the guy I don't even

01:10know that guy's name we met the most eclectic interesting human you're ever gonna find

01:15I'm a copy roasting company okay I rose copy in here and uh ghost is my technique I have very first

01:25spray paint technique you know so uh yeah I got like leftover jerseys you know that I'm selling if you

01:35need to uh DJ DJ set up I make sure you bring one of my turntables uh home to fix it I'm very

01:43passionate about this coffee coffee roasting I work with small producers like micro lots you know this

01:53is like this is like the best coffee out there this is comes from Colombia vacuum seal and 10 kilos

02:26four hours so like there's like drag race cars too drag race cars yeah yeah this place in here it's a coffee

02:34shop it's a memorabilia store it's a graffiti store it's a DJ parlor it's everything and this guy say he goes

02:42when you're in here you're in my brain not too many places like this that I've been in very unusual

02:47it is eclectic in a good way yes you know so I always tell people you're kind of like inside my

02:52head you know because that's kind of I believe that's a hell of a trip and you are literally in

02:58his brain I root for guys like that quit his CVS job and like just built this place out my little

03:05story I used to work for Walgreens for 17 years you know whole corporate thing you become a number we

03:10cannot buy it yeah yeah yeah I told my boss off one time you know and that three days later after 17

03:17years like I can so I tried to do something on my own and coffee roasting more was more like a

03:22hobby to me yep started doesn't make team start fixing it up so everything you see here where you

03:28see these white cuts or walls here ever so I start cutting this place apart fixing everything and then

03:35you know like around 2020 when COVID happened you know we had to shut down I was the only employee so I

03:41have to like for below anybody I use that time so I worked literally 18 months straight well to 18

03:50hours every single day to transform this place I believe it then found the pizza guy and I think

03:57we may have good pizza here look at that undercarriage one bite everyone knows the rules I don't even

04:02know where we are do you Lennox sale or new Lennox very good I was getting worried the 90 minute drive

04:18wouldn't be worth it this is very good great Chicago pizza very good pizza

04:30honestly it's up there and this isn't you can't really say this downtown Chicago

04:51Zaza's is probably my favorite in Chicago downtown they do Pizza Fest Pizza Amici which

04:57we recently did that's tavern style bungalow tavern style Frank and Vinny's tavern style but

05:05non-tavern this I would be putting probably

05:09seven nine real close to an eight one for Chicago mid eight like for Chicago style for me is a mid eight

05:23this would be bar none one of the best pizzas in the city the overall experience

05:28outer space like I'm not gonna give it like I would I love this guy I love the place I love the story

05:38of the pizza guy quitting his corporate job a must hit and this is definitely an eight Chicago pizza

05:44no doubt about it um so yeah worth the trip I I assume it's already well known in these parts but

05:52definitely worth it uh all the way around buy it buy a Carlton Fisk White Sox jersey and get some

05:59great pizza while you're at it and have great coffee while you're at it you'll shit yourself

06:02but still worth it there you go that's a review

06:04I don't know if that was an eight one

06:08what was it it's very good

06:11it's also like you can't find pizza like this downtown Chicago

06:17really not at all no she lives in Chicago I said we come here there's one place I'm aware of

06:22that has pizza that's like similar style that's good uh Zaza's but other than that

06:27that's why we drove an hour and a half nice it's worth it yeah very very good this yeah this

06:32doesn't exist in oh wow it is he's gonna he's gonna he's the only pizza we'll eat yeah yes

06:40very good well hopefully great business place is great passion you know from him uh there's a story

06:47behind how he named his pizza uh so pizza di tarpala which is a butterfly so this could have been

06:56nice story is his mom she passed away uh and she always told him that she's gonna come back as a

07:04butterfly so he actually renamed his pizza when he opened up after her because she taught him how to

07:12cook and make pizza you know great really good i was like shaky so you can't find this downtown

07:21yeah the new york side you got where you guys from Chicago suburbs so how'd you make this type of

07:28no one makes this type of pizza no he does this so that's the thing like he's done this forever okay

07:35we've been together 20 years he just likes to cook you know it started off in our garage where we would

07:39do like a pop-up and he would kind of do both coffee you know parts of coffee as a pop-up people liked it

07:45and for like a year and a half he was working full-time and then like friday night up till 2 a.m

07:51prepping for saturday service yep tell him what he was cooking up oh god like a whole one pizza

08:01so then it got to the point where we're like it's really good he loves it kind of made it so the way he

08:07wanted to make it and i'm like we have to make a decision like are we going to continue to make

08:11this like a lucrative hobby or are we going to do this for real and he's like i think i really want

08:17to do it and our kids were little at the time and i'm like well let's just do it i love that

08:24i'm a nurse i carry the health insurance and that was like my blue thing yeah yeah like we don't have

08:28to like realistically worry about that like let's just do it i'm like you think we like the kids

08:33won't feel affected by it and he's like we're gonna make it work and you know so far so good

08:39two years later so hopefully this is great and it's it's even better because you can't get it

08:45like it really is a hard pizza to get around here yeah yeah and i don't like i chicago is not my

08:50favorite pizza city i've ever been in this is far more like what i like what most people like i actually

08:55yeah yeah i'm not the time the taverns there's a couple decent ones but this is

09:01and that's what he always says he doesn't try to like classify himself into one specific style

09:06he's like i just make what i like to eat yeah so i like it it's great good yeah score seven nine

09:16so it's right on a seven nine eight one scale any critiques what'd you think

09:21no i mean seven nine is a high score so yeah it's right it there's really no critiques i mean i like

09:29the way it was cooked i don't have much to say on it like i said it's a chicago eight but i'm judging

09:35it versus like my favorite pieces of all time so seven nine is the highest score this is yeah this

09:41has been like such a life-changing thing for us i have no idea how we found out about it i still we

09:46still don't know because we have the best the small community sorry i'm a little emotional like he

09:52literally he started from nothing he left we left everything and he just decided to do this because

09:58he's passionate about it so that is so huge i'm so proud of him um the small community oh yours you're

10:04going to be the one that your your reaction can get people in the store more than more than the actual

10:09pizza because people love it like it take it's a huge risk in general yeah like the passion behind it

10:15like he's the best person he's the best dad he's good at what he does and it's like for for you to

10:22even come here regardless of what the score is for him is just it's life-changing and it makes it all

10:29worth it you know what i mean i'm glad to hear it we were i was worried because it took us 90 minutes to

10:33get here i hope this place doesn't suck but it was worth even meeting you the whole story unbelievable

10:40but small business community the support around here dan like we found great staff it's like

10:45everything is just lined up for us and has worked out you know so good good yeah well hopefully this

10:52helps a little bit i'm glad we found you guys thank you so much yeah can i take a picture yeah of course
