Initially much of England will see some clear skies to start the evening. Any cloud will start to thicken up however as we move into the late evening, with showery rain arriving in western Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. England will also see some showery outbreaks as we move into tomorrow, and special note should be given to the far south east of England that could see thundery outbreaks of rain overnight. For many it will be a very muggy night. - This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the evening of 25/06/2025. Bringing you today’s weather forecast is Clare Nasir.

00:00Hello there, welcome to a Wednesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:04We saw some very high temperatures today across eastern counties, temperatures peaking in the high 20s and it's going to be a muggy night.
00:12With that, the air is primed for some thundry downpours currently across the near continent and extending across eastern counties overnight.
00:20At the same time, with this area of cloud and rain, we'll move in from the west.
00:24In between, we're seeing some showers break out as well, so some wet weather around through this evening and overnight as this weather front moves from west to east and those thundry showers clear.
00:38But through Thursday, eventually some brighter weather and a bit fresher, particularly across more northern and western areas, before more cloud and rain arrives into Friday.
00:46And the winds really pick up some strength, so a windy day into Saturday, that cloud and rain tends to fizzle out.
00:52Out either side, we'll see some brighter weather and warm again, in fact turning much warmer across more central and eastern areas through into the weekend and the beginning of next week.
01:02So for the time being, let's pick up on that thundry rain extending across Kent towards east Anglia.
01:08Elsewhere, some showers across the Midlands, Wales, northern England, the west country, as this cloud and rain moves in from northern Ireland across to Scotland and turns heavy across the highlands into the early hours of tomorrow morning.
01:21But look at these temperatures, holding 14 or 15 across Scotland and Northern Ireland, 16 for northern England, mid Wales 15, but notice 17 or 18 down towards central and southern parts of England and Wales.
01:35That's just below the criteria for a tropical night, which hits at 20 degrees Celsius.
01:41So the air is primed.
01:43It's going to be a very muggy night and uncomfortable for many.
01:46The winds, though, will pick up into Thursday from the west and certainly through the morning we'll see some thundery rain across eastern counties clearing.
01:57Showery bursts elsewhere move from the west towards the east and brighter skies either side.
02:02Now this cloud and rain will fragment, so some sunshine coming through during lunchtime and into the afternoon.
02:08But any showers lingering could turn heavy through the latter part of the day.
02:13Some fine weather to end the day, just a few showers running in across western Scotland and a bit more cloud for Northern Ireland later.
02:20Let's take a look at the temperatures then.
02:22Well, a notch down on what we saw today, even so, 18 or 19 across Scotland and Northern Ireland, 21 for the northwest of England, 24 for mid Wales down towards the southeast, 25.
02:34And across the west country, 19 or 20, with a brisk breeze extending across many parts.
02:40So it is going to be another warm day for some.
02:44Elsewhere, temperatures probably around near normal, if not a little bit below across more western parts of Scotland.
02:51Now through Thursday evening and overnight, some late sunshine before the sun sets.
02:55And then a few showers run in across Wales, the Midlands, more showery rain across western Scotland as well as Northern Ireland.
03:02And then the winds pick up even further across the west as we head into the early hours of Friday morning.
03:07So if you're stepping out Friday morning, you may get wet, particularly for Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, perhaps the far north of Wales, certainly northwest England, western and central parts of Scotland.
03:18And filaments of rain extending towards Orkney as well as Shetland as it clears Cateness and Aberdeenshire, allowing for some brighter weather.
03:26At the same time, it's a bright start with some sunshine anywhere from Lincolnshire, East Yorkshire, down towards Derbyshire, Mid Wales, central southern England, as well as the west country.
03:36And the cloud will be broken across Mid Wales as well.
03:39So through Friday morning, we watch as this area of cloud and rain and strong winds continues its passage northwards.
03:46So some persistent rain for a time and also some heavy pulses totting up those rainfall levels.
03:52A windy day here, blustery elsewhere, but it will be warm in that sunshine across much of England.
03:59Temperatures here coming in 26, 27 degrees Celsius, so a degree higher or so than Thursday.
04:05And for Northern Ireland, once you see some sunshine, 21 in shelter and even for Scotland, 18 or 19 Celsius.
04:14So it turns warmer on Friday and that trend continues, particularly across England, eastern parts of Wales, through into the weekend.
04:23Friday will be a blustery day.
04:25It will be windy as well, particularly towards the north as well as the west.
04:29Here's your outlook through Saturday.
04:31Saturday, a mix of some cloud, a few showers in the mix as well, extending across the country, but also some sunshine.
04:39And notice these temperatures, 28 degrees Celsius across eastern counties, could be even warmer on Sunday and into the beginning of next week.
04:46See you later.
