00:00Hi there. It certainly felt much more humid through Thursday compared with recent days in many parts of the UK.
00:08And with that higher humidity, we've seen a lot of cloud cover, some showers and some areas of rain.
00:14And those showers and areas of rain move through Scotland and Northern Ireland during the evening.
00:18Some heavy downpours out there.
00:19And then another area of showery rain pushing into Western England and West Wales by the end of the night.
00:25Ahead of that, some clear spells, but a lot of cloud remains and it's going to be a muggy night for many of us with temperatures staying at 17, 18 Celsius in places.
00:35Some mist and low cloud around as we start the day, western, southern and some southeastern coasts.
00:41But inland things do brighten up and we'll see some hot sunshine developing across parts of Northern England, Eastern England, the Midlands and the Southeast.
00:49Towards the west, areas of cloud here and there, showers moving through Northern Ireland into much of Scotland in between some bright spells.
00:59And look at the temperatures as we go into Friday afternoon, reaching the low 30s in some parts of the southeast.
01:06Now, with that heat and the humidity as well as low pressure nearby, we're likely to see some thundering outbreaks later in the day on Friday and into the weekend.
01:16The first area of thunderstorms likely to affect northeast England as temperatures rise on Friday afternoon.
01:22That's this area here.
01:24And it's through Lincolnshire, Yorkshire, the far northeast of England, where those thunderstorms are most likely.
01:30And somewhere like North York Moores could see some particularly high rainfall rates for a few hours, 40 to 60 millimetres.
01:36Then there's another batch of showery rain and thunderstorms moving up from northern France overnight.
01:42Again, high rainfall totals, chance of lightning, chance of some hail out there.
01:48And we start the weekend with a lot of cloud cover across England and Wales.
01:52Areas of showery rain here and there, some thunderstorms also moving northwards.
01:57And you can see by the bright colours here how heavy that rain is.
02:00Of course, we need the rain.
02:02It will be useful for gardens and farms.
02:05But we don't need it all at once.
02:07That could cause some issues.
02:08It moves into southern and central Scotland later in the day to the far north and west, staying drier.
02:13But there will be further showers coming along for Sunday.
