00:00:00Hello there.
00:00:29Welcome to Donington Park.
00:00:31The Bennett's British Superbike Championship has reconvened here for round two of a season
00:00:36that started off in the worst possible fashion at Alton Park a fortnight ago.
00:00:40The loss of Owen Jenner and Shane Richardson following an incident in the Supersport race
00:00:46has cast an emotional shadow over the paddock.
00:00:49This weekend, their friends, their rivals, their fellow competitors race on in their memory.
00:00:54James Hayden and Steve Day were commentating on that fateful Supersport race at Alton Park.
00:01:02Chaps, it's a rarity, but unfortunately it's not a situation that we're unfamiliar with in our sport.
00:01:08We've lost two young men who have paid the ultimate prize chasing their ultimate dream.
00:01:11Yeah, I mean, it's an amazing, fantastic sport, we do, but, you know, it does have a dark side.
00:01:17Unfortunately, that dark side, we had its head at Alton Park, and as you say, we lost two amazing characters from our sport.
00:01:24You know, we have to remember these most difficult of times that ultimately they've been doing something they absolutely loved,
00:01:30and whether it's climbing Everest or racing motorbikes or hand gliding, you know,
00:01:34these accidents and these dangerous sports can happen, it doesn't make it any easier for everyone left behind,
00:01:40and really they've gone from the paddock, but certainly not forgotten,
00:01:43and our thoughts and love go out to all their friends and family left behind.
00:01:46Yeah, absolutely, just so incredibly sad.
00:01:49I can't think of any other sport that can do this to you.
00:01:53Such incredible highs in October of last year to such devastating heartbreak lows
00:01:58as we had on the Monday at Alton Park, and, you know, those boys had infectious smiles,
00:02:03which aren't going to be forgotten, a passion for racing, and, you know,
00:02:06our thoughts are with the family, but the biking family as well,
00:02:08and for those that aren't used to bike racing, you're about to see something incredible,
00:02:13you know, the community, the biking family all coming together to support the families,
00:02:17the fundraising that's gone on, and the ripple effects that it's had in world racing as well.
00:02:21Yeah, just incredible to see the support, and, yeah, just so sad for the families.
00:02:28Yeah, well, testament to that.
00:02:29Is the scene just behind us here down on the start-finish street?
00:02:33On the starting grid here at Donington Park, where the British Superbike Paddock
00:02:36is out in force to pay tribute.
00:02:41As we all know, the tragic accident that occurred on the first lap of the Supersport race
00:02:47at Alton Park just 12 days ago tragically claimed the lives of Owen Jenner and Shane Richardson,
00:02:54and we're all absolutely devastated that such a tragic accident could happen in a sport we all love so much,
00:03:03and we're here today to show just how passionate we all are about the community we have
00:03:10and how much we care about everybody who takes part in this wonderful sport,
00:03:15which of course has its risks, but our real heartfelt sympathies go out to all of,
00:03:22particularly the families of Owen Jenner and Shane Richardson, to Mick and Emma Jenner,
00:03:28to Hannah, to Kerry and Jude, we feel for you so very, very much.
00:03:34And I think you can see by the sheer scale of the number of people on the grid here at Donington Park
00:03:42how the British motorcycle racing community come together
00:03:46to try and support everybody involved in this tragedy as much as we possibly can.
00:03:52Thank you all for coming from my side, and our thoughts are very much going to be with you,
00:03:58and the community of British Superbikes will support you, Mick, Emma, Hannah, Kerry and Jude,
00:04:05for as long as we possibly can and for as long as you're going to need it,
00:04:09and it can be of any benefit whatsoever.
00:04:10Owen and Shane were two remarkable young men who had great careers ahead of them,
00:04:16and our thoughts are going to be very much with all of the memories of them
00:04:21for a very, very long time.
00:04:23I'm now going to hand across to Stuart Hicks, the series director of BSB.
00:04:28Thank you, Jonathan.
00:04:32I can only simply echo the words, and I'm sorry to repeat them,
00:04:37but also very needing to repeat them.
00:04:41This is a community like no other.
00:04:43I think we transcend sport.
00:04:45I think we transcend life in general sometimes,
00:04:49seeing everybody to come together and what has been the most dreadful 12 days since.
00:04:56A day that we were all looking forward to with such optimism.
00:04:59It had been the most longest off season since the COVID period,
00:05:04and everything was coming together.
00:05:07Then 3.30 on the 5th of May, in a timeframe of about 30 seconds,
00:05:12because our worlds were rocked, but none more so than the family of Shane and Owen.
00:05:19When we talk about the BSB family, it extends to teams, to riders, to the fans,
00:05:25and also to, and most importantly, to our marshals and medical team,
00:05:30who in those moments where we coordinated the response,
00:05:33their actions were nothing short of heroic.
00:05:37We are truly served by the best in the business.
00:05:41I echo Jonathan's thoughts by saying,
00:05:43please don't think you have no purpose in the paddock.
00:05:47You have a passport for life.
00:05:50We will never forget Shane and Owen and the contribution they made,
00:05:53and the teams that supported them.
00:05:57I'll now hand over to the series presenters, Larry Carter,
00:06:01and first Duncan Vincent to pay their respects to Shane and Owen.
00:06:11What happened at Alton Park has left us all stunned and heartbroken.
00:06:16The outcome is something no one in the BSB family could have imagined,
00:06:21and today we are here with heavy hearts to remember and honour Owen Jenner.
00:06:28Owen was just 21, a son, a brother, a teammate, and a friend to so many.
00:06:34He brought an incredibly talented motorcycle racer,
00:06:36and his rise through the BSB ranks was as impressive as it was speedy.
00:06:42He was the 2020 British Junior Supersport Champion,
00:06:46the 2023 National Junior Superstock Champion,
00:06:50and the 2024 GP2 Cup Champion.
00:06:54And he had just started his British Supersport career with Rapid Honda.
00:06:58He had big dreams and all the talent in the world to chase them.
00:07:04But more than that,
00:07:05Owen was the kind of person you just wanted to be around,
00:07:08always smiling, always laughing,
00:07:11and usually leading the mischief in the paddock.
00:07:14If there was fun to be had,
00:07:16Owen was right in the middle of it,
00:07:18surrounded by his many friends and sporting one of his, let's say, unique hairstyles.
00:07:25He was a natural racer, fearless, determined, and full of heart.
00:07:30His family believed in him deeply, and so did we.
00:07:34There's no doubt he was on his way to becoming a future Superbike Champion.
00:07:40Today, we remember not just the racer, but the person, the joy he brought,
00:07:44the moments he shared, and the gap that he leaves behind.
00:07:50Rest easy, Owen, and thank you.
00:07:53You'll never be forgotten.
00:07:56And over to Larry.
00:08:01Thank you, Duncan.
00:08:03When Shane Richardson lost his life following the tragic accident at Alton Park two weeks ago,
00:08:09not only did the world lose an exceptionally good motorcycle racer,
00:08:13but an incredibly decent person, too.
00:08:16A talented craftsman off the track and a fierce competitor on it,
00:08:20after a successful career in his native New Zealand,
00:08:23he came to the UK and started what would be a seven-year association
00:08:28with the Astro JGR team.
00:08:30And while some of that time was spent injured,
00:08:33many race fans remember the 2019 National Superstock 600 Championship,
00:08:38which he so nearly won.
00:08:40Leading a tenth-place finish at the final round to secure the title,
00:08:44a technical issue late in the race relegated him out of the points,
00:08:48but he battled on regardless.
00:08:50With Corey McGravey winning the race, and with it the crown,
00:08:54Shane hid his disappointment, but was the first to congratulate him,
00:08:59as ever, with that trademark smile,
00:09:01which was usually ever-present despite what looked through at him.
00:09:04Injury-free, he was starting to emerge as a leading contender
00:09:08in the Quattro Group British Supersport Championship,
00:09:11where he finished inside the top ten last year,
00:09:14and really felt that 2025 could have been his season.
00:09:19But it wasn't to be, and those steely, piercing eyes,
00:09:23the ever-present grin and the Kiwi accent won't grace the grid again.
00:09:27And along with Owen, the BSB community is a poor place without them.
00:09:32To his partner Hannah, children Max and Maddy,
00:09:35his friends and family both here and in New Zealand,
00:09:37as well as Stuart Trowman's James Jackson and the rest of the team,
00:09:41we share your profound loss.
00:09:44Ride high, Shane. Enjoy your time reunited with Damo
00:09:47and the rest of the crowd.
00:09:48It's been some journey.
00:09:51So now, ladies and gentlemen, would you please join in a minute's silence
00:09:55in memory of both Shane and Owen.
00:10:49Thank you, ladies and gentlemen.
00:11:02We wish you'd love to miss you.
00:11:19A fitting and heartfelt tribute to Shane Richardson and Owen Jenner, two talented young men who
00:11:27will always be remembered fondly in the British Superbike paddock and beyond.
00:11:49A smooth, cool 10-second victory for Kiwi's Shane Richardson.
00:12:18What delight it is for Owen Jenner to be crowned as the 2023 Pirelli National Junior Superstock
00:12:39Champion.
00:12:48The biggest crowd at Alton Park for over a decade and they're all here to see Bennett's
00:13:13British Superbikes.
00:13:18It's eyes on the lights.
00:13:20BSB is gone.
00:13:22What a standing star first lap of Brad Ray.
00:13:26He is sending out a message here.
00:13:29Max Cook is challenging the reigning champion.
00:13:33Oh!
00:13:34Oh!
00:13:35Oh!
00:13:36Glenn Irwin true on Storm Stacey.
00:13:38Glenn Irwin arguably here could still be on Propodium.
00:13:41Now Leon Haslam pounces.
00:13:42Glenn's going to try and set something up here over the number one player.
00:13:48There you go.
00:13:49Storm Stacey now goes through on Kyle Rye.
00:13:54Here comes Glenn.
00:13:56Glenn through into second.
00:13:59Brad is back in business.
00:14:02Rye wins the opening race.
00:14:04No one could get close to him.
00:14:07The smiles are back.
00:14:09Brad Ray with a whole shot once more.
00:14:12They're going to have to get busy soon if they want to keep Brad and Ray inside.
00:14:17Nice move from Leon Haslam.
00:14:19The number 91.
00:14:20He moves up into second place.
00:14:21Glenn Irwin.
00:14:22That was bold.
00:14:23And he gets through but he's wide.
00:14:24FoxBasey not giving an inch.
00:14:25And Kyle Rye goes through to third place.
00:14:26It's Haslam versus Ray.
00:14:27A proper ding dong battlement here at Alton Park.
00:14:29Full commitment.
00:14:30And now he goes up the inside into Old Hall corner.
00:14:32He's rolling back the years here.
00:14:34It's Haslam.
00:14:35It's Haslam.
00:14:36It's Ray.
00:14:37It's Ray.
00:14:38It's Glenn.
00:14:39It's Ray.
00:14:40It's Glenn.
00:14:41Glenn Irwin.
00:14:42Up the inside of Brad Ray for second.
00:14:43But they're not going to be close enough for Haslam.
00:14:45But Leon Haslam is a BSB race winner.
00:14:46And now he's going to go to the third place.
00:14:48It's Haslam vs Ray.
00:14:49A proper ding dong battlement here at Alton Park.
00:14:51Full commitment.
00:14:52And now he goes up the inside into Old Hall corner.
00:14:53He's rolling back the years here.
00:14:54It's Haslam.
00:14:55It's Ray.
00:14:56It's Glenn.
00:14:57It's Glenn.
00:14:58It's Glenn.
00:14:59Glenn Irwin.
00:15:00Up the inside of Brad Ray for second.
00:15:01But they're not going to be close enough for Haslam.
00:15:03BSB race winner again.
00:15:06Leon Haslam.
00:15:07He's back.
00:15:08We've got a championship on our hands.
00:15:11Brilliant start.
00:15:15Two former champions really bringing it to round one at Alton Park.
00:15:19Welcome along to Donington Park for round two of the Bennett's British Superbike Championship
00:15:23here on Quest at TNT Sports, the new home of bikes.
00:15:26James Hayden and Shane Byrne to take us through the racing across all classes.
00:15:30Promises to be cracking this weekend, fellas.
00:15:33But especially in the top class in BSB, James, where we've got a three-way tie for the championship
00:15:38lead.
00:15:39Yeah, an incredible opening round.
00:15:41Super tight.
00:15:42All three, as you say, tied.
00:15:43Leon Haslam sits on top just due to him being the last person to win.
00:15:47But what a weekend we had.
00:15:49Super fast.
00:15:50You know, all different manufacturers and a really lovely opening in the Superbikes and
00:15:56stuff.
00:15:57Brad Ray really picking up where he left off at the end of 22.
00:16:01Shane, when he went off in his World Superbike adventure, he looks like he's going to be the
00:16:05man to be potentially here as well.
00:16:07Yeah, I mean, it's so interesting.
00:16:09You know, we've got three guys tied at the top of the championship.
00:16:12Obviously, Bradley, Glenn, you know, all of them together there.
00:16:16Brad's got a job to do, right?
00:16:18He knew that he had to come back to BSB.
00:16:20He has to deliver.
00:16:21He's riding that R1.
00:16:23You know, raceways.
00:16:24Let's not forget to mention Steve Rogers came out at the 11th hour after all the turmoil.
00:16:29You know, literally the first of April, there was a call saying that the OMG team was going
00:16:33to be disbanding and, you know, Bradley was without a job.
00:16:36So, you know, for everything to be turned around and to come back and to win the first
00:16:39race, it definitely shows his intent.
00:16:41And he's going to have to keep that kind of momentum going, you know, to try and fight
00:16:45for this championship.
00:16:46That's for sure.
00:16:47Yeah, he looked brilliant on the motorcycle as well.
00:16:49He's got that really sort of loose, relaxed style.
00:16:52But, you know, brutally fast.
00:16:54And, you know, it just looked like he'd not been anywhere, you know.
00:16:57Forget the little difficult time and uncompetitive bike.
00:17:00Well, suit bike.
00:17:01He was just back to his absolute best.
00:17:03And, of course, Leon Haslam back to his best as well, which is saying something for
00:17:08a guy who's been at the top, top level, Shane, for more than two decades.
00:17:12Now, he's north of 40 years old, but he's not showing any signs of slowing down.
00:17:16It makes me smile so much to see Leon win, you know.
00:17:18He's a great rival of mine when I was riding, you know.
00:17:21He's such a determined little so-and-so.
00:17:22And, you know, I always used to joke about the fact that if there was a door open, like,
00:17:2650 foot up the road, he'd have a go at getting through it, even if it was, like, closing at the time.
00:17:30But to see him come back, I believe it was his first win in six years, actually, in the
00:17:35British Superbike Championship.
00:17:36And, obviously, the 2018 champion.
00:17:38Actually, the only thing he did wrong that weekend was land this wheelie.
00:17:41He got a little bit crossed up when it went back down again.
00:17:43But, yeah, great to see Leon back at the front.
00:17:45And I'm sure that he's going to want to try and keep that momentum going now
00:17:47with the Moto Rapido team.
00:17:48Yeah, for sure.
00:17:49As Shane rightfully said there, 2018, his last win here in BSB.
00:17:54The year that he won the title in a championship that he debuted in all the way back in 2003.
00:18:00But as James found out when he popped round the other day, he's smiling again.
00:18:04Leon Haslam is a BSB race winner again!
00:18:09Yeah!
00:18:10Leon Haslam, he's back!
00:18:13Leon, magnificent start to the season.
00:18:16Joint leader of the championship.
00:18:18Were you hoping that it would start like that?
00:18:20Were you thinking it could?
00:18:21Yeah, basically, I sat in the gym with Sam and Alex and, like,
00:18:23what are you expecting from the weekend?
00:18:24Because they, obviously, normally say to win every time.
00:18:26And I said, honestly, if I get a podium and a win at my first round, I'd be well happy.
00:18:29You know, I'm trying to be calm and collected.
00:18:32And for me to achieve that in round one, you know, a third and a win and be leader.
00:18:36It's, yeah, dreams come true so far.
00:18:38Brilliant.
00:18:39So, were you expecting to come out the gates as good as that?
00:18:43As you know me probably well, I have a lot of self-confidence in what I can do.
00:18:48And these, coming back from world championship in 2022,
00:18:52I left Honda and come back to a BSB Kawasaki ride with Lee Hardy.
00:18:57And Alvaro, who I beat that year, went to Ducati and won the world title.
00:19:01Yeah.
00:19:02So, for me, it was a hard few years.
00:19:03I'm not going to lie.
00:19:04You know, the year with Lee was one of my worst to date.
00:19:08And it really made me doubt, you know, the love of what I've always had for racing.
00:19:12You know, the last two years have not been about results.
00:19:16It's been about, you know, setting the challenge of everything that I'm doing here with my academy,
00:19:20with BMW.
00:19:21But, you know, yes, we had podiums.
00:19:23But, as all the commentators have been telling me, I've not won a race in BSB since 18.
00:19:27Yes, I was in Worlds for three years.
00:19:29But, to finally get that win again, be back on a Ducati, be with Wilf,
00:19:33it was definitely a weight off my shoulders and basically a reassurance to myself that
00:19:37I've still got the speed.
00:19:38Who do you see being sort of your main rivals over the season?
00:19:42Yeah, obviously, the Yamahas in the UK are still super competitive.
00:19:45For me, the characteristics of the way the power delivers and the handling of the Yamaha
00:19:50is real strong.
00:19:51So, everybody on the Yamahas, you know, you've got your Brad Rays, your Karl Raas,
00:19:54and your Danny Kents.
00:19:56You know, as far as the Ducati's are concerned, it's clearly a bike that can win.
00:20:00Glenn's been on it now three years and just missed that championship these last few years.
00:20:04So, he's obviously gunning for his first ever title.
00:20:07And, obviously, Tommy on the Honda, you know.
00:20:09So, for me, they're your three manufacturers with the riders that are on their manufacturers
00:20:13that are all capable of winning races and the championship.
00:20:16Neon, thank you so much.
00:20:17It's been great to catch up and, like, good luck for the rest of the season.
00:20:20How do you see the rest of the season going? Good?
00:20:22Yeah, I'm looking forward to it, mate.
00:20:23So far, everything's going to plan and we're waiting for an hiccup, you know.
00:20:28Will's kind of said to me, I've got a bit of a reputation for me being fiery
00:20:32at the minute he's not seeing that side.
00:20:33So, we'll say how long it lasts.
00:20:34Great.
00:20:35Well, Leon, thank you so much.
00:20:36Let's hear it great.
00:20:43Well, Leon, looking confident as well.
00:20:45He might do.
00:20:46Nobody knows this circuit better than...
00:20:47From the small village of Smalley, where that man lives there.
00:20:51Leon Haslam, our championship leader, on the famous family ranch.
00:20:55Leon, look at this place.
00:20:56All your dad's stuff, all your stuff, your uncle's.
00:21:00It's incredible.
00:21:01But I've come here to the, uh...
00:21:02The Airways Tecati year.
00:21:03Last time you were on one, 2007.
00:21:04Bring back good memories.
00:21:05Yeah, it doesn't, it doesn't.
00:21:06It's an amazing three years, you know.
00:21:07Being under Colin Wright.
00:21:08Um, you know.
00:21:09It kind of took a chance on me.
00:21:10So, to come in and get on a Tecati and be with official GSE.
00:21:12It's amazing.
00:21:13It's amazing.
00:21:14It's amazing.
00:21:15It's amazing.
00:21:16It's amazing.
00:21:17It's amazing.
00:21:18It's amazing.
00:21:19It's amazing.
00:21:20It's amazing.
00:21:21It's amazing.
00:21:22It's amazing.
00:21:23It's amazing.
00:21:24It's amazing.
00:21:25It's amazing.
00:21:26It's amazing.
00:21:27It's amazing.
00:21:28It's amazing.
00:21:29It's amazing.
00:21:30You know.
00:21:31It kind of took a chance on me.
00:21:32So, to come in and get on a Tecati and be with official GSE.
00:21:35It was a big, big learning curve for three years.
00:21:38Three years of finishing second.
00:21:39But it was really, really good memories and good times.
00:21:42Yeah.
00:21:43Obviously, that's the second in the world to be.
00:21:46You took him to the last round.
00:21:47Wow.
00:21:48For me, that was one of my favorite years.
00:21:50The all-star year was, again, they took a chance on me.
00:21:53As soon as I got in with the team and Francis and Patricia Bata,
00:21:56it was a family-run team.
00:21:58Every result we got was such a bonus.
00:22:00It was amazing.
00:22:01And to, obviously, finish second in the world was amazing as well.
00:22:03Yeah, incredible.
00:22:04And then here, Aprilia, I bet that was a nice thing to ride, wasn't it?
00:22:07Yeah, amazing.
00:22:08It's actually the year that Gwyntoli had won the championship the year before.
00:22:11And they changed the rules so everything had to go standard.
00:22:14So, it was soul-destroying to see how competitive it was.
00:22:17But, yeah, we won the first and the last race of the year that year on Aprilia.
00:22:20Haslam's got the slipstream across the line.
00:22:23It's gonna be close.
00:22:24It's going to be the old Haslam!
00:22:27Now, back to BSB.
00:22:30Obviously, you know, really good one new title.
00:22:33Now, JG obviously supported me throughout all that side of it.
00:22:36Obviously, we started off with Mark Smith-Alverson.
00:22:38Moved to Pete Extence at Bournemouth.
00:22:41And, obviously, finally winning it in, obviously, 2018.
00:22:44So, yeah, good memories.
00:22:45The 2018 champion is Leon Haslam.
00:22:48What are your favorite things in here?
00:22:50I think it's a generic thing.
00:22:52You know, you seem to, like, forget and see what you have done over your career.
00:22:55So, actually, to see it in a timeline of all the different years and leathers,
00:22:59especially from when my dad first started.
00:23:01Yeah.
00:23:02We've got a few things in here of all the bad memories.
00:23:04You know, we've got all the plates and bars and screws that we've had out of bodies over the time,
00:23:08which is pretty cool.
00:23:09But probably the most thing is the Arai helmet here.
00:23:13It's the first helmet that Arai gave me when I was three years old.
00:23:17And, obviously, it's what my dad used to run with the furrow.
00:23:20So, yeah, the history of the helmets, the bad times with the plates,
00:23:24and just the basic timeline of the room.
00:23:26Oh, it's brilliant.
00:23:27I love being in here.
00:23:28What a great space.
00:23:34It's been some career, and it's far from over.
00:23:36Yeah, Leon Haslam, victorious in round one at Alton Park,
00:23:39leading the championship here at Donington.
00:23:41He's a guy that you've both got a special connection to as a rival, Shane,
00:23:44but also as a friend, James.
00:23:46I know not just of Leon, but of the family earlier in your racing career
00:23:49that really helped you out.
00:23:50Yeah, very much.
00:23:51I lived with him.
00:23:52He was a little kid.
00:23:53You know, I was there based at the farm.
00:23:55And so, you know, I have Ron and Ann so much.
00:23:58And he was this little cheeky 10-year-old.
00:24:00There is a little cheeky 41-year-old.
00:24:03Not changed that much, has he?
00:24:05He hasn't, but they're just a wonderful family.
00:24:07Great people.
00:24:08And it's just stunning to see him still out there winning races.
00:24:12And he's top of the championship, so brilliant.
00:24:14And a real competitor as well, Shane.
00:24:16All the metal work that's come out of both him and Ron's bodies there in the museum.
00:24:19He's a real fighter.
00:24:20Yeah, I'm actually surprised they've got it in there, to be fair.
00:24:22If they took it down to the scrapyard and weighed it in, there'd probably be a few quigs.
00:24:25It's all going to be titanium.
00:24:26But he's had some big knocks.
00:24:28He's had a really, really long career.
00:24:29But you forget just how much the guy's done, you know?
00:24:31Like when you look back, oh yeah, second in World Superbike Championship.
00:24:34Yeah.
00:24:35And done this and been in 500 Grand Prix's.
00:24:37He's won three Suzuka eight hours.
00:24:38Yeah.
00:24:39You know, it's incredible some of the stuff.
00:24:41It's been brilliant.
00:24:42Some big accomplishments.
00:24:43And more ahead, for sure.
00:24:45He's fourth on the grid today and with the pace to challenge at the front.
00:24:49Yeah.
00:24:50Well, I think that he definitely, you know, did a wonderful job at Alton Park.
00:24:54You know, really surprised me with his pace and the pace that he was able to maintain as well.
00:24:58You know, the outright pace.
00:25:00He set like basically pole position laps, lap after lap, for about three or four laps in the race,
00:25:04which is absolutely unheard of.
00:25:06So he's clearly gelled with that Moto Rapido Ducati, riding it really, really well.
00:25:10This is his home circuit.
00:25:11I mean, nobody's more locals here.
00:25:12It may be quite all right.
00:25:13But, you know, Leon's probably done more laps around here than anybody.
00:25:16So you'd expect that role to continue.
00:25:17I mean, this is going to be tight out there.
00:25:19Three guys on 120, you know, on their, you know, .9s, 126.9s.
00:25:23So we'd never seen them in the 26s.
00:25:26So what a race we've got in store.
00:25:28The pace is hot.
00:25:30So that was the track temperature.
00:25:32Let's find out what the temperature is on the grid with James Whitton.
00:25:36For me, it's too warm.
00:25:37I'm obviously overdressed.
00:25:38I've spent a little bit of time at the Haslam Ranch myself.
00:25:41That is the best theme park in the world, by the way, if you're into dangerous things
00:25:45with engines.
00:25:46It's like a theme park with a refreshingly old fashioned approach to health and safety.
00:25:51But brilliant.
00:25:52Right.
00:25:53You're on the second row.
00:25:54And I think your, this is Max Cook, by the way, I think your second row qualifying there
00:25:58kind of went under the radar by us.
00:26:00You sneaked along there.
00:26:01This is really good, mate.
00:26:02Yeah.
00:26:04It's so close.
00:26:05Yeah.
00:26:06Did a 127.4, which is like .6 of how much, well, .6 better than what I've ever done around
00:26:11here.
00:26:12So, no, it was really, really good.
00:26:13Now, I just want to learn my lesson from race one at Alton and be patient on this one.
00:26:17So, full tank of fuel.
00:26:18Be patient.
00:26:19Sit in there.
00:26:20Enjoy it.
00:26:21It's a long race.
00:26:2220 laps.
00:26:23Have a good one.
00:26:24Good luck, Mark.
00:26:25Cheers.
00:26:27Good luck, Mark.
00:26:28Looking across to Tommy.
00:26:29We've heard from him.
00:26:30But that was brilliant to get himself up into fifth with a lot of issues.
00:26:35He had one lap to do it.
00:26:36And he did his fastest ever lap round.
00:26:38Right.
00:26:39Right inside of the front row.
00:26:41Glenn Irwin, you can never write you off, lad.
00:26:43The comeback at Alton was spectacular.
00:26:45Gave you a chance of leading the championship, which you do jointly.
00:26:48Yeah.
00:26:49I think it showed where we are as a team.
00:26:52You know, perhaps bike, wrist distance, and my own fitness, which we have done.
00:26:56And fitness, which we have worked quite hard on, Jimmy.
00:26:58So, yeah, this weekend has been much of the same.
00:27:01Working towards the victory as such and the important laps of the race.
00:27:06That being said, stronger over one lap than I imagined.
00:27:11We discovered some things in qualifying there, which was nice towards the end of the session.
00:27:15Still changing electronics after each red flag.
00:27:17It was like, try this, try that.
00:27:18Not trying to go pole.
00:27:19Just trying to discover and to learn.
00:27:21And I feel we have adapted the bike very well for this race.
00:27:24Good luck, Glenn.
00:27:25Give me a chance.
00:27:26Yeah.
00:27:27Glenn, write him off at your peril.
00:27:29Because he tries so hard, never gives up.
00:27:32Right middle of the front row.
00:27:34The first one to do that spectacular 26 lap time was Kyle Ride.
00:27:39Kyle, where's the tanks coming from?
00:27:42I'm amazed.
00:27:43Yes, three of us on the front row, all 26ers.
00:27:46So, yeah, fair play to us three.
00:27:48Great qualifying session from all of us.
00:27:50But, yeah, it means nothing.
00:27:52No, I know you're typically honest, but it does.
00:27:56And you sat at the front and it's where you need to be and you look set and settled.
00:28:00Yeah.
00:28:01I mean, 26-9.
00:28:02I've never done one.
00:28:03So, that's a big bonus.
00:28:04The target was to get on the front two rows, get away.
00:28:07Bike feels good on used tyres and I felt good on Friday.
00:28:10So, just got to get a few laps out of my way and hopefully have a good race.
00:28:13Good luck, Kyle.
00:28:14Thanks, James.
00:28:15Cheers, mate.
00:28:16Kyle, you can always rely on to be truthful, let's say.
00:28:20Right, here we go.
00:28:22We've a minute and a half left.
00:28:24Brad Ray on pole with a, I'm guessing, fastest lap you've ever done round here.
00:28:31No, not quite.
00:28:32Is it not?
00:28:33No, I've done a 26-1, I think, in world superbikes, but different tyre, different bike.
00:28:38So, yeah, fastest ever BSB lap round here.
00:28:41Yeah, so, three of us on the front round of 26 is going to be interesting.
00:28:46How's the tyre going to be?
00:28:47I'm guessing you're quite happy that we've probably got, I mean, I've put my hand on it
00:28:50and I'm going to guess mid-30s or 33 or four or something, track temperature.
00:28:54That's going to be better, I'm thinking, than colder.
00:28:57Yeah, for sure.
00:28:58The higher the track temperature, it's going to be better for the tyre life.
00:29:01So, it's going to be a bit unknown to everyone, I think, 20 laps around here,
00:29:04but I'm just going to try and set a pace and see what the others have got.
00:29:08Go on, then.
00:29:09I know you're well enough now.
00:29:10Is anybody going to try and bolt, because you did it at Alton,
00:29:12or are you going to sort of play it steady like you said you were going to do?
00:29:16But it was called a track temperature then.
00:29:17Are you going to have a go at this or not?
00:29:18Honestly, I'll see how I get off on the start, but I don't want to be the one to go off at the start
00:29:24and then end up coming back to the riders.
00:29:26So, maybe a bit more patient in this race.
00:29:28Good luck.
00:29:29Cheers, mate.
00:29:30Well, that's it.
00:29:31I can tell you that he's just, as well as been on pole, as if he wasn't nervous enough,
00:29:36he just had a watch presented by Ed Clancy.
00:29:39Ed Clancy, actually.
00:29:40Multiple Olympic cycling champion, as you know.
00:29:45Great bloke.
00:29:46Huddersfield bloke.
00:29:47But he's also, he's a two-wheel man.
00:29:49Obviously, he's into cycling, but he's actually a motorbike two-wheel man.
00:29:54Has a road bike, does track days, and he's really good on a trials bike.
00:29:58Well, that's it.
00:29:59Track temperature.
00:30:01Hot now.
00:30:02About 35.
00:30:03And that's going to suit most of these boys.
00:30:04They're going to have to think less about the tyres.
00:30:07That's it.
00:30:08We're off.
00:30:09Back to you, boys.
00:30:13So, number 28 on pole position then.
00:30:16Brad Ray, the day after his 28th birthday, with the pace over one lap.
00:30:20But who can do it?
00:30:21Over 20.
00:30:22We'll find out.
00:30:23BSB Race 1 is coming up next.
00:30:44This is Donington Park.
00:30:46The GP circuits.
00:30:48A sunny day.
00:30:49Blue skies.
00:30:50And a really good Saturday crowd for Bennett's BSB in 2025.
00:30:57It's chapter two, part three.
00:30:59The trio who can't be split.
00:31:02Leon Haslam, Bradley Ray, and Glenn Irwin are all locked on 32 points each after the opening round at Alton Park two weeks ago.
00:31:13But the two most recent champions, Kyle Ride and Tommy Bridewell are knocking on the door on the qualifying lap times.
00:31:22And they have every chance of having a say here.
00:31:27Ray on pole.
00:31:28Ride second.
00:31:29Glenn Irwin third.
00:31:30Arsenal fourth.
00:31:31All four under the best ever race lap.
00:31:34Bridewell did really well earlier on in qualifying to muster up his position.
00:31:37Andy Irwin, Rory Skinner, Josh Brooks all there on that third row as well.
00:31:43And it's Danny Kent with work to do in 10th out of Nesbitt and Christian Hiddin.
00:31:47Lee Jackson had a fall earlier on.
00:31:49John McPhee missed most of practice.
00:31:52There's no Jamie Davis in this one after a fall earlier on.
00:31:54We hope he's okay.
00:31:56Tom Sykes does start, but they were still working on that Aprilia RSV4 about half an hour ago.
00:32:02When I walk past the garage, they'll be hoping that they can get some data here.
00:32:06It's going to be a 20 lap race.
00:32:09And it's fair to say that the temperature has risen considerably since this morning.
00:32:15We're ready to go racing.
00:32:16And as ever in Bennisby, as Beewit, it's impossible to call.
00:32:20Yep.
00:32:21You can't call this one at all.
00:32:22Lots of permutations, including the tyres, like we say.
00:32:25I think this is the track temperature is up mid 30s, I think, by the feel of it.
00:32:30And that's going to be good.
00:32:32It means they're not going to have to think too much about these tyres cooling down,
00:32:35say if there's a safety car or something like that.
00:32:37I think they're going to be all right here.
00:32:38I don't think anybody's going to try and bolt up.
00:32:40Baby Brad Ray.
00:32:42He had that look in his eye when I asked him on the grid.
00:32:44Of the nine riders on the front three rows,
00:32:47seven of them have won British superbike races here at Donington Park before.
00:32:52And I think also seven of them have just done their quickest lap round Donington.
00:32:56Here we go.
00:32:57The green flag waves at the back.
00:32:59Coming up of this 2.48 mile circuit at Donington Park.
00:33:07Oh, there's a white there as the lights came out.
00:33:10And a good start from pole position for Bradley Ray.
00:33:12Looks like Glen Irwin has got the nod on Kyle Ride into turn one.
00:33:16Haslam's there in fourth.
00:33:17Good lunge there from one of the Karasakis.
00:33:19I think Max Cook.
00:33:20Tommy Bride, well, looked like he struggled a bit off the line.
00:33:23Yeah.
00:33:24Didn't get it off the line.
00:33:25So, well, didn't Kyle Ride?
00:33:26He dived underneath Glen Irwin when he went a little bit wide.
00:33:29So, is Kyle Ride into second place behind his old buddy Brad Ray?
00:33:32And he's up the inside of him now.
00:33:33Brilliant.
00:33:34Brilliant stuff from Kyle Ride.
00:33:35He's won seven races here at Donington Park before.
00:33:37Up ahead of his old teammate Bradley Ray.
00:33:39Brad trying to retaliate immediately.
00:33:41Glen Irwin is there in third.
00:33:42The most recent race winner, Leon Haslam, fourth.
00:33:45It's not just Kyle's teammate, it's his mate going back years.
00:33:48Different end of the country, but they've raced many bikes since he was six.
00:33:51Oh, one of the Karasakis is pulling up there.
00:33:53I think that's Max Cook who's got an issue.
00:33:56What a shame for the number 30.
00:33:58Some mechanical has hit him.
00:34:00Yeah, it's definitely Cook.
00:34:01A rider down there as well.
00:34:03A couple of riders down.
00:34:04Storm Stacey is one of them.
00:34:05One of the 810 racing riders.
00:34:07That's Hickey, I think.
00:34:08It is Hickey.
00:34:09Definitely Hickey's helmet.
00:34:10Yeah.
00:34:11Out front.
00:34:12It is Irwin that has gone through into second place up ahead of Brad Ray.
00:34:17Down into the Melbourne Loop we go.
00:34:18You can't take your eyes off this one out front.
00:34:20Again, just defending there.
00:34:21Up the inside of Ray goes Glen Irwin.
00:34:23Yep.
00:34:24The marshals will be sussing out what's happening in race control.
00:34:26Up at Coppice.
00:34:27Making sure everybody's up and the track is clear.
00:34:30And they've got a little bit of time to do it because early in the race
00:34:32everybody's together.
00:34:33They've got the best part of a minute to decide what's going on here.
00:34:36There's been a few that have gone down at Coppice.
00:34:38There's a few riders really wide there.
00:34:39Yeah.
00:34:40A lot of them master back there, I think.
00:34:43Across the line we go.
00:34:45It is Kyle Ride.
00:34:46The reigning champion on the nitrous competitions, OMG Yamaha,
00:34:49that leads number one from number two, Glen Irwin.
00:34:53Brad Ray.
00:34:54Now look at the speed he's got through Hollywood on that Yamaha.
00:34:56Yeah.
00:34:57When you watch Kyle Ride when he's out front and he can run his own lines,
00:35:00especially if he's got a little bit of a gap and he knows it and he doesn't
00:35:03have to defend.
00:35:04Just watch how clean and nice and just clips everything.
00:35:07Just clips his.
00:35:08So look, here we go.
00:35:10Just seeing here.
00:35:11Oh, dearie me.
00:35:12That looked like there was a bit of a gap there.
00:35:15That one's going to have to be looked at, I'm sure.
00:35:17We're only going to get a couple angles.
00:35:19It's really tough to call from where we're watching there.
00:35:21The two that touched it went down.
00:35:24Scott Swan there, he almost got caught up.
00:35:26There's yellow flags here, so no overtakes into Copper's Corner.
00:35:30Now onto the back straight.
00:35:31What a couple of laps this has been for the reigning champion.
00:35:33Kyle Ride.
00:35:34You can see how eager Brad Ray is in third to get through on Glen Irwin.
00:35:37Yeah, because you can see his old mate Kyle getting away there.
00:35:40It's going to be difficult for Brad to get past there because it's coming
00:35:43after a little bit of a straight, which means that the cat has probably put
00:35:46two metres into it.
00:35:47Leon Haslam is in fourth.
00:35:49Just behind him, number 11 on the Cheshire Mouldings to Cathy Skinner,
00:35:52who's had speed all weekend.
00:35:54And behind Skinner, it's Andy Irwin.
00:35:57How good is it to see Andy knocking on the door of the top five again?
00:36:00Behind him is Brooks, then it's Iden.
00:36:02Tommy Bridewell with work to do.
00:36:03He's down in ninth.
00:36:07Across the line we go, a 27.7 for Kyle Wright.
00:36:15Yeah, he tenths off what they did, but it is on the second lap.
00:36:18And it's a long race, James.
00:36:20And it's a long race, and they all know that.
00:36:22Brad Ray, as ever, on the Yamaha.
00:36:26It has so much speed through the corners here in this first sector.
00:36:29Trying to find a way through on Glen Irwin.
00:36:31Charlie Nesbitt now has encountered some sort of trouble.
00:36:34Has he been down?
00:36:35It looks like he has.
00:36:36Yes, you would think.
00:36:37He's fallen at the final corner.
00:36:41Goddard's unfortunately.
00:36:43That's him.
00:36:44Gun is not supposed to get back on, but I guess if he's riding around.
00:36:47I don't know what the protocol there is.
00:36:53There is a pit entrance just after Goddard's, but that's closed,
00:36:56because it's like an old pit entrance.
00:36:58It is, yeah.
00:36:59Yeah.
00:37:00We'll let upstairs deal with that.
00:37:02Karl Wright, it is that leads though from Glen Irwin,
00:37:05who on this lap looks like he has retaliated.
00:37:07Does he?
00:37:08Yeah.
00:37:09There's a few purple sectors actually on our screen from a number of riders.
00:37:11Haslam, Skinner, Andy Irwin.
00:37:13They're all bunching up down into the Melbourne Loop.
00:37:16Yeah, because I don't think, I think this is a pace that people can do.
00:37:19I think this is a pace that's been set by Kyle Wright and not just him going as fast as he can the whole time.
00:37:24It has to be said, James, this is only round two, the third race of the season.
00:37:29I've never heard the word tyres used so much.
00:37:31No, no.
00:37:32We have at the start of this year.
00:37:33No, no.
00:37:34Well, if you don't know, they have to use the same rear tyre.
00:37:38Everybody, you know, that would be Charlie Nesbitt.
00:37:40Yeah, just about, yeah.
00:37:43Crashed and got it up before it even hit the floor there.
00:37:46Yeah, everybody's got to use the same rear tyre.
00:37:49It suits some bikes better than others.
00:37:51Well, that's what they say anyway.
00:37:52I think if you're struggling, you say it's because the tyre doesn't suit your bike.
00:37:55We heard that last year.
00:37:56It's a slightly different tyre to last year with different characteristics,
00:37:59but certainly more grip when they're in good order,
00:38:02which is why we're seeing these lap times, or partially why we're seeing these lap times.
00:38:05A notable mention here for John McPhee, James, in 11th.
00:38:09Yeah.
00:38:10Who had a nightmare weekend.
00:38:12No, two laps to his name yesterday.
00:38:14Yep.
00:38:15There he is, number 17, up behind Danny Kent.
00:38:18Former Moto3 world champion and a Moto3 race winner going at it on super bikes.
00:38:23But that is such a good effort on the Mazda Mack Honda from John.
00:38:27Yeah.
00:38:28Just behind him, then, is McConnell, Rogers and Jackson after a fall earlier.
00:38:32Scott Swann, 15th.
00:38:33Swann got caught up a bit in that BMW clash over at Coppers.
00:38:38Meanwhile, at the front, we're about to start lap five.
00:38:41I think what we're seeing here is a little bit of a cat and mouse type situation.
00:38:46I don't think Kyle wants to bolt at the front and wear his tyres out.
00:38:49I think that's what he's concerned about.
00:38:51I don't think anybody else wants to do that either, which is why we see most people are able to do, in the top ten at least, are able to do these 27, sort of high 27s.
00:39:03The AGN Steel Stock Kawasaki team.
00:39:07Oh, that was Cook's bike.
00:39:08Yes, Cook's bike being brought back after breaking down, yeah.
00:39:10To where it was, it was completely terminal, couldn't get it back.
00:39:13Fastest lap of the race to Andy Irwin in sixth place on the Honda, yeah.
00:39:17That's what I'm saying, these aren't particularly quick lap times compared to what we saw when they had really fresh tyres and they were going for a quick lap.
00:39:24We did see this at times last year, James.
00:39:26Yeah, we've seen it.
00:39:27A couple of races.
00:39:28We've seen it here at Donington.
00:39:29We have.
00:39:30It's very abrasive at Donington.
00:39:31You don't want to run out of tyres because your lap times will drop off a lot.
00:39:34And if you bolt at the beginning, we saw it at Thruxon particularly, where if somebody bolts at the front, they're definitely coming back to you at some point.
00:39:41But you've got to be patient and understand that.
00:39:43The easiest thing to do is say, right, I'm going with them.
00:39:45What it sometimes can mean, though, is the last laps of this race is just going to be all out.
00:39:50Yes, completely.
00:39:51There was nothing left of the tyres when we came here in May last year and the last few laps.
00:39:55Two.
00:39:56Oh, and that's Irwin.
00:39:57Yep.
00:39:58Andy Irwin, who had just posted the fastest.
00:40:01Tommy!
00:40:02Is it Tommy?
00:40:03I think it might be Tommy.
00:40:04It is.
00:40:05Tommy's gone down at Coppice Corner.
00:40:08That looked like a horrible one as well for the 2023 champion.
00:40:12I hope he's all right.
00:40:13He's up on his feet.
00:40:15He's holding his elbow and his hand a bit, but he's a strong lad.
00:40:18He's all right.
00:40:19Yep.
00:40:20A disappointing start to the year continues, unfortunately, for Tommy Bridewell.
00:40:26He's down and out of the race.
00:40:27Oh!
00:40:28Oof.
00:40:29The rear let go, didn't it?
00:40:30Yeah.
00:40:31And it was a bit of a tank slapper.
00:40:32That's what it was going to be, yeah.
00:40:36Well, certainly seeing the highs and lows this weekend, haven't they?
00:40:40Yeah.
00:40:41There's work to do.
00:40:42There is work to do.
00:40:43So then, out front, it's Kyle Ride that leads in this sort of chess match that we've now got unfolding.
00:40:51Lovely shot, that.
00:40:52The long shot.
00:40:53Going down Craner and through the old air pin and then out onto Starkies Bridge.
00:40:56You really get an idea of how fast these fellas are going.
00:40:59We have got a new lap record in Bennett's BSB.
00:41:02Brad Ray at 127.338 beats Glen Irwin's 27.345 from last year.
00:41:10So, Ray upping the ante on the Raceways Yamaha there in third place.
00:41:16But again, like you say James, it's not going to want to use too much of that tyre.
00:41:24Completely.
00:41:25And nobody else is.
00:41:26That's the point.
00:41:27Just in the back of this group, Christian Iden on the AGM.
00:41:33Steel Stock Kawasaki.
00:41:35It's got a good rhythm going on.
00:41:37Yeah, likes it, yep.
00:41:38Just Christian.
00:41:39Seen some of his best rides here over the years.
00:41:41Number 21, there he is just behind Andy Irwin.
00:41:44Yeah.
00:41:45Then there's a big gap back to Danny Kent.
00:41:47And they just haven't been able to find their feet at all this weekend.
00:41:50The McCams Yamaha team.
00:41:51No, they haven't.
00:41:52No.
00:41:53Struggled.
00:41:54Couple of offs which is totally unlike Danny.
00:42:01Over the line we go.
00:42:03Once more.
00:42:0427.6, 27.7, 27.5.
00:42:08Yeah, I think these are times that have been set to be at that.
00:42:14Kyle's so fast on the fast up.
00:42:17The flowing, train of curves, top of Hollywood.
00:42:20Just beautiful.
00:42:21Imagine they all are.
00:42:23It's such a brilliant circuit.
00:42:26Yeah, it is.
00:42:27Yeah, circuit of two halves.
00:42:28We obviously have that.
00:42:29Fast flowing, early part.
00:42:30And then once you get down into foggy S's then it's stop, start.
00:42:33So it takes a little bit of everything.
00:42:35More than that, it's always a compromise with the bike set up.
00:42:39Because to get it perfect on them heavy braking down from way over 100 three times.
00:42:43Into foggy S's, into Melbourne Loop and into Goddard.
00:42:46And even into Redgate, you're breaking down from high speed to sort of second gear.
00:42:50And that doesn't, if you get your bike set up there, doesn't suit it the fast flowy bit.
00:42:54Three foggy S's.
00:42:55Power ride leads from Glen Irwin.
00:42:57That's a lot quicker, about a second and a half quicker than it ever used to be.
00:43:00They just opened the kerbs up a little bit and it doesn't take much to make it a second quicker.
00:43:04Because they use all the road they've got, obviously.
00:43:06I quite like the fact that they opened it up a bit.
00:43:08Because I think it leads to more drama.
00:43:10It's flowy and leads to more drama in the Melbourne Loop as well.
00:43:12I agree.
00:43:13Yeah, it's just a nicer run down that back straight into Melbourne.
00:43:16Yeah.
00:43:17It is, yeah.
00:43:18Into Goddard's.
00:43:20Basty left-hander, Goddard's.
00:43:22The best thing about opening foggy S's up is it makes my old rubbish lap times.
00:43:26I can say, well, it's because they've opened the S's up.
00:43:29Glen Irwin then decides to make his move.
00:43:32It's a tight line through Redgate.
00:43:34It's a couple of lines you can take.
00:43:35He's managed to make it stick.
00:43:36But now watch the sweeping Yamaha lines from Kyle Ride in second place and Brad Ray in third.
00:43:41It'd be interesting to see what Kyle wants to do here.
00:43:44Because he...
00:43:45Oh, Brad wants a piece as well.
00:43:47Yeah, and that's what Kyle's got to watch out for.
00:43:49Because nobody wants to see anybody getting away.
00:43:51But I wouldn't have thought Glen wants to push it.
00:43:53But it looks like he is having a go at it.
00:43:55Maybe he fancies it for a couple of laps.
00:43:57Yeah, but you wouldn't do that for a couple of laps.
00:43:59If you think that's all you've got in you with your tyre, you would sit behind the man.
00:44:03Yeah.
00:44:04Save it.
00:44:05Roll it where you can.
00:44:06Use a bit of slipstream when you can.
00:44:07You do feel like, though, James, a lot of these guys are still learning about...
00:44:10The tyre.
00:44:11The tyre.
00:44:12And their bikes.
00:44:13Yeah.
00:44:14Use of that tyre.
00:44:15Yep, I agree with you.
00:44:16Straight.
00:44:17We go...
00:44:18Little of a wobble from Kyle.
00:44:19Yeah.
00:44:20It comes Brad up the inside in the foggy air.
00:44:23It's nice and clean.
00:44:24Yeah, lovely move.
00:44:25Yep.
00:44:26From Brad Wright.
00:44:27So it's Glen Irwin that leads on the Haga PBM Ducati.
00:44:32From Brad Wright and Kyle Wright.
00:44:34In the background there, it looks like Christian Hiddin just making a move on Andy Irwin.
00:44:38Yeah.
00:44:39Haslam's still setting four.
00:44:40Josh Brooks is making some headway here.
00:44:43Brooks, number 25.
00:44:44The Dow Racing Honda rider.
00:44:45We said earlier he's going under the radar a bit.
00:44:48He is in the 27s when the two riders in front of him are on 28s now.
00:44:52Law 28s.
00:44:53So, over the line there for Irwin.
00:44:5627.5.
00:44:57Rider 28.4.
00:44:59There is Josh Brooks.
00:45:01He's gone through on Rory Skinner.
00:45:03He's now hunting down Leon Haslam.
00:45:06Yeah, I bet he got passed twice that lap by people did, Kyle.
00:45:10So that's going to cost him time.
00:45:11Yeah, I know.
00:45:12Yep.
00:45:13I agree.
00:45:14Yep.
00:45:15He looks off the back now.
00:45:17Just on the left of your screen there.
00:45:20There's a bit of a glitch there with Brad Wright.
00:45:22He keeps on dropping down the leaderboard and giving me a little moment.
00:45:27And I keep on the screen to make sure he's still there.
00:45:29So, slight glitch for him.
00:45:31Kyle Wright then just dropping back here as Glen and Brad pull away.
00:45:34Do you know, I've seen a couple of corners there where he's run wide and just not looked comfortable on the bike.
00:45:39I'm just wondering whether he's having front end issues.
00:45:43Quite a few riders in the paddock here said that once we get to laps eight and nine, I'm in real trouble grip wise.
00:45:51Is that what's happening here?
00:45:52Or is it a case of it'll come back to you?
00:45:55There's a few riders that have said there's a little window, James, midway through a race run where they lose a bit of grip and then it comes back to them.
00:46:02It's really odd.
00:46:03Sometimes when the tire changes, if it does it quite gradually, then you can get used to it and work around it and ride around it a little bit easier.
00:46:10And you find you can do the lap times with less grip.
00:46:13Well, let's see what the lap time is here for Kyle because he did a 28.4 last lap.
00:46:17Yeah, which was steady.
00:46:18He got passed twice on that lap, which would have cost him time.
00:46:21Over the line this time at 27.9.
00:46:24Yeah.
00:46:25She's 4 tenths slower than Glen Irwin out front.
00:46:28Lap 10 of 20.
00:46:30Looks like in the distance Haslam, Brooks, Skinner can't live with this pace.
00:46:37No.
00:46:42Into the old hair pink.
00:46:44Big crowd in there.
00:46:46Lovely to see.
00:46:47Yeah, which normally means we're going to have, well, we always have a bigger crowd.
00:46:50Well, we always have a bigger crowd on a Sunday.
00:46:52Yes.
00:46:53We've got similar weather conditions as well, which is good news.
00:46:57I know there are many fans that wait till Sunday morning to see what the weather's doing.
00:47:01Wide again from Kyle.
00:47:02Yeah.
00:47:03Up at McLean's.
00:47:08Lots of rubber being put down, look.
00:47:10Coming out of coffee.
00:47:11I mean, that's quite normal, but there is quite a lot.
00:47:14Glen Irwin decided that he wanted to get out front to lead, but he's not going to lose interest here from Ray.
00:47:24An actual fact, every bit of rubber that gets laid down on the track looks brilliant, but that means it's not on the tyre anymore.
00:47:30And one of the, one of the ways that the teams can see how much tyre weather's been over a certain amount of laps at a certain circuit is weigh the thing afterwards.
00:47:39And they weigh them that accurately.
00:47:40They know exactly how much rubber's gone from the tyre.
00:47:43Oh, I did not know that.
00:47:44Yeah.
00:47:45That's what I do.
00:47:46Yeah.
00:47:47Yeah.
00:47:48If you're tyre test, you're weighing tyres all the time.
00:47:49Yeah.
00:47:50We're halfway through.
00:47:51Every day's a school day, you know that.
00:47:52It is.
00:47:53Yeah.
00:47:54I mean, that's the second time today, James.
00:47:55Hang on.
00:47:56Oh, Danny Kent has gone wider.
00:47:58So Goddard has been in the gravel.
00:48:00Yeah.
00:48:01The Yamaha rider.
00:48:02I'll do it.
00:48:03The tyres out.
00:48:04Got to be a little bit careful there.
00:48:05It'll clean it up on the right hand side here.
00:48:08He'll know that.
00:48:09Nice and steady.
00:48:10Now the right hand side's ready to go again.
00:48:12Looks like he's almost out of gear or something down into the Melbourne.
00:48:17Sorry.
00:48:18Into Goddard.
00:48:19That's maybe what happened.
00:48:20Mr. Gear.
00:48:21Got a little bit of pad knock back coming out.
00:48:23Maybe got a little twitch coming out of Melbourne loop.
00:48:26Billy McConnell has gone through past him into the top ten.
00:48:29So that's Billy's top ten on the cards.
00:48:32His first of the season.
00:48:33John McPhee, by the way, is ninth now.
00:48:35Brilliant.
00:48:36On the Master Mack Honda.
00:48:37This is your race leader though.
00:48:39Glenn Irwin.
00:48:40And Bradley Ray.
00:48:41Last lap.
00:48:42Karl Raj rallied somewhat.
00:48:43Yes.
00:48:44Fastest lap of the race.
00:48:45Fastest ever lap in a race around here.
00:48:46What do we know?
00:48:47It's confusing, isn't it?
00:48:48Because it didn't look like he dropped back because of one mistake.
00:48:49It looked like he was struggling just all the line on some of the corners.
00:48:50It's too early in the year to tell the viewers that we used this at this chase.
00:48:51Let's not give it away yet.
00:48:52I'll drag you down with me.
00:48:56Over the line.
00:48:57Let's see what a lot of times look like this time.
00:48:59Pretty equal.
00:49:00Pretty equal.
00:49:01Pretty equal.
00:49:02Between the top five or six, in fact.
00:49:03Nothing to split them.
00:49:04Top six have all done exactly the same lap time.
00:49:05Yes.
00:49:06That 12 of 20.
00:49:07Where this will get.
00:49:08It was struggling just all the line on some of the corners.
00:49:09It was struggling just all the line on some of the corners.
00:49:10It's too early in the year to tell the viewers that we used this at this chase.
00:49:11Let's not give it away yet.
00:49:12I'll drag you down with me.
00:49:13Over the line.
00:49:14Let's see what a lot of times look like this time.
00:49:15Pretty equal.
00:49:16Pretty equal.
00:49:17Between the top five or six, in fact.
00:49:18Nothing to split them.
00:49:19Top six have all done exactly the same lap time.
00:49:20Yes.
00:49:21That 12 of 20.
00:49:22Where this will get interesting.
00:49:23Spicy.
00:49:24It's those last three laps.
00:49:25Yeah.
00:49:26And that'll depend a lot on who has conserved.
00:49:27I'm thinking the man who was conserved this time a little bit.
00:49:28Here is Brad Ray.
00:49:29He's in second place.
00:49:30It looks like he's got the pace to stay with Glenn.
00:49:31When Glenn.
00:49:32When Glenn passed Kyle, then Brad seemed easily able to pass Kyle and go with him.
00:49:49That to me suggests that he's got a little bit of pace.
00:49:51And now, you get in the slipstream.
00:49:52You don't necessarily want to worry your man into a mistake.
00:49:54I've heard that said before, that can happen.
00:49:57But what you want to do, use a bit of the slipstream.
00:49:58I've heard that said before and that can happen but what you want to do use a bit of slipstream
00:50:03you want to lose use less of your bike less of your tire therefore saving a little bit for the
00:50:08for the end when when it's gonna when the gloves are gonna be off in the distance Josh Brooks on
00:50:14the Dow Racing Honda has got through on Leon Haslam this is it this is a good ride from we
00:50:20know what Josh Brooks is capable of he knows what he's capable of yeah the point is we used to know
00:50:27what Josh Brooks used to be capable of but this is good for us we're like Josh you know several
00:50:32times in the last couple years we said he's done you know every brilliant career comes to an end
00:50:37but I'm happy to see this yeah he's kept himself fighting fit absolutely yeah and he's really
00:50:42believes and he really still wants to do it and that it's a big part of it Leon Haslam wide into
00:50:48Goddard's is he now losing perhaps some grip here baby still learning that the cat it is Leon has
00:50:55ridden the cat is before but not this model you can see on that last lap with the lap times only
00:51:00the top four were able to stay in the 127s one or two now drifting off into the mid 128 laps
00:51:07there is Brooks then on the Dow Racing Honda there's Haslam number 91 in fifth and Skinner in sixth on the
00:51:14session moldings Ducati and okay Skinner was in the top three for the early parts of the weekend but
00:51:20this is a step in the right direction exactly I was just a learning curve but not just for him
00:51:25yeah this is for the team for the team everyone BM's for a long time before now BMW s1000 double
00:51:30hours they know the way around those but when you swap manufacturers especially when you swap to the
00:51:34cat that's a different thing nothing fits the stands don't fit nothing fits all your equipment
00:51:39not just the bikes have to go and you've got to relearn how that bike works I was speaking to Matt last
00:51:44who's working with Rory down in the garage and he's obviously been in gone three paddocks he's been
00:51:49here he's been there he's been everywhere he said this is the biggest challenge of my life yeah that's
00:51:54what I said but I bet he likes Rory and it's a big challenge for Rory but Rory's laid-back but intelligent
00:52:00and understands he's been on a lot of different bikes and not this one but it will be a learning
00:52:05cookies used to learning what the bike does I've closed up again yep we start lap 14 of 20
00:52:11Erwin Ray and ride again not really anything to split them lap time wise yeah the Yamaha of Brad
00:52:22Ray definitely quicker into Reggie wasn't it that that sort of phase of coming off the brakes and
00:52:28leaning the bike over the yam can rail it's funny as we just see here faster slaps they'll form the
00:52:33grid for tomorrow Brad Ray through Redgate through Hollywood and the entry to Cranes so strong
00:52:39brilliant he's so strong at the end of Trainers into the old hairpin he is can't quite find a way
00:52:44through now unless he's biding his time maybe and it was in some respects he's got to be however
00:52:51you've got to be careful when you're racing with it a guy that still is a quick motorbike and still a
00:52:56pull-up bike down the straight so you can't just think you're gonna get past where you want it's easy
00:53:02when you've got a slightly quick way it's not much quicker but it is slightly quicker lens the guy so you
00:53:07can put yourself a lot easier to defend when you've got a fairly sharp bike that's what I'm trying to
00:53:10say with all those words sorry no no no love it keep going we've got another few laps together yeah
00:53:14oh is there a move coming here there is from Kyle ride the lunge down in all and going as deep as
00:53:24well and he's a little left his lines here and he's gonna lose a couple of spots three
00:53:27goes Brad Ray and Kyle ride they engage outside that's yeah and it works too deep and it's on camera there
00:53:35can so now Brad Ray leads after a mistake down into the Melbourne loop from Glenn Irwin we saw that a few
00:53:43times last year I think we're gonna see uh I'm gonna see think we're gonna see Brad's gonna go here I don't think he's got much choice he's just gonna with six to go he's gonna get his head down
00:53:52I think I think Kyle knows that and he looks really really keen to get past watch this yeah he's making his move that was from a long way back but he's a big wide
00:54:04Glenn knew that was coming yeah he did that's one of Kyle's favorite overtaking difficult place to get past
00:54:11so you know you're going in heavily depending on the front end they've got to be careful not to knock each other around too much though yeah it's gonna play into Brad's hands see what happened here initially Glenn goes
00:54:22it's wide Kyle has a look up the inside as well
00:54:24yeah the only one who kept his proper line around there was the man who came out in front
00:54:31Brad Ray
00:54:31this down at the Goddard's Kyle ride
00:54:37what can at this stage of the race Brad Ray now do
00:54:41let's look at the lap times
00:54:42Josh Brooks is closing whether or not he's gonna be close enough
00:54:47as Kyle ride does now lunge up the inside of Glen Owen down into the Melbourne loop that will invite the Australian in fourth place a little bit closer
00:54:54yeah a little bit of a block pass out from Calvary did get stopped that's that's they've lost another tenth or so to Brad Ray as a result
00:55:01oh
00:55:02he's way too heavy
00:55:03he's struggling to get yeah there's some bumps going in there so if you just think I'll turn it in anyway with the brakes on you're probably gonna go down
00:55:10you've got Brad Ray 2022 champion leading yeah he's loving this because he
00:55:15well they don't know but they've beaten each other up
00:55:17Brooks the fastest of the lot on that last lap he's still lapping in the mid 127s on the down racing Honda
00:55:24that was nearly a second yeah he tends quicker that yeah it was than right in front of him Glenn Irwin and it's not really in his nature he's got no choice in this now has got to perhaps
00:55:37but listen Kyle and Glenn have got to stop tussling here because Brad's gonna go
00:55:44Brad will go I'm not sure that Glenn's got the pace actually and I think that Kyle won't take it won't need much of an opportunity to go and try and get past Glenn so I think the beating up is gonna continue I believe
00:55:59that's the fog yes it's not this time but this is Glenn Irwin let's not forget
00:56:06whoa a little bit of a bubble out of there it's gonna cost him a little bit of time he's got that inside line has he just defends lovely into there will he go wide is he gonna
00:56:16Kyle's expected it to go wide look but he doesn't tight on entry there just try and hold that position from Glenn Irwin
00:56:23and all the all the time Brooks just nibbling away he is fourth place great ride from Josh this and really wide there missed the second apex for Glenn so he's pushing
00:56:35some good news regarding Tommy Bridewell if you're just tuning in he crashed out earlier on at Coppice a horrible one he's been declared
00:56:42fit which is good for him 27-6 from Brad Ray out front that's a good time to be delivering a lap like that yeah he's holding 27s there last lap
00:56:50he's almost a second clear now with Glenn Irwin and Kyle Ride who might just have another look here down into the old hairpin
00:56:57Josh Brooks has clawed back eight tenths on the two riders ahead of him to try and get himself back in the frame yeah
00:57:06importantly over the last lap he wasn't quite as quick
00:57:10great ride still from Josh Brooks yeah it's really promising really promising
00:57:18that looks a bit heavy into McLean McLean's for yes it was it was definitely
00:57:25on to the back straight now from Brad Ray he was let's say miffed that he lost out on
00:57:33the win in the second race back at Alton the problem is to get past Glenn Irwin on the Ducati
00:57:39even if he's put just a meter on you on the straight before you've got to be so good on the brakes you're likely to run
00:57:45wide anyway and he knows that look yeah they're both way too wide yeah perfect example of just saying there
00:57:52look see how it just maintains and pulls a little bit between the corners and that makes it so hard to get past him
00:57:59Brooks here I mean Brooks is on him here well Brooks in fourth is just say keep going boys
00:58:04come on yeah you have a go keep chipping lads and I will come through brilliant ride whatever happens here for Josh Brooks
00:58:10this is a brilliant ride this is a great ride
00:58:13he's not had a podium since 2023 on the FHO BMW and that was early in the season as well so it's been a while
00:58:23but it's on Brad Ray now 1.7 clear they're not catching him unless he makes a mistake
00:58:30no that's I agree yep and Brooks James has now got that feeling when you're on a bike and you can see yourself
00:58:36reeling in those in front of you a full half second quicker last lap than the two riders in front of him with Josh Brooks
00:58:42alright and he's look yeah he's there and Kyle's trying everything here he needs to just get a really good run
00:58:52get the speed out of copies use a sleep beam and but this is so difficult to do when you're up against a bike that will pull maybe a meter on you
00:58:59yeah and Glenn will go to the defensive line again here because he can because he can yeah and he knows that Kyle wants it
00:59:05Brooks might not actually have to do a lot of work to go through on these two
00:59:09I agree they're going to do it for him defensive again but this time Kyle knew he was going to go there and Brooks
00:59:15comes through oh and he touches the rear of car ride yeah that was a bad mistake from Brooks because that's cost him
00:59:21any chance now I think of a podium I'm sure the Dow racing team can't look there's still potentially a podium on the cards
00:59:29if yeah that is engage yeah that was a an optimistic challenge was that from Josh I knew it's great to see the old fella just
00:59:38get stuck it really is really is here we go then let's have another look so Glenn defensive as usual Kyle
00:59:46trying to wait till he runs wide opportunistic move from Josh Brooks nearly got his front end taken away
00:59:52this is some eyes on my action yes you were right to be worried oh they thought it was happening and then
01:00:00somehow you'll put some money into this job going to the Dow job loves this sport
01:00:06there is Erwin and he actually won't know at this moment that he's going in fact he's dropped white ass on Kyle
01:00:13yeah he must have seen that was a mistake somewhere yeah he might not know Brooks is behind because
01:00:19Brooks of course made that move on Kyle ride this could be interesting onto the back straight we go
01:00:24right what's the Honda going to be able to do with the Ducati let's have a look he's every bit as quick
01:00:28here's Josh at the inch oh he needs to time this right now two laps to go at the end of this one
01:00:34Rory Skimmer's had a bit of a late race resurgence as well he's not a million miles back here comes Josh Brooks then
01:00:39number 25 on the Dow racing Honda you're right Glenn wasn't defending at all then and he has done for 10 laps
01:00:44has he run into some grip trouble Brooks on the Dow racing Honda he's on for a podium here
01:00:53I think you were right I think Glenn would have defended there if it had known that yeah I don't
01:00:57right behind me that Josh was there he defended right swung across the right every single lap
01:01:03over the line we go out front it's uh Brad Ray
01:01:06right don't worry about Brad Ray's name dropping down the table is the problem with his transponder
01:01:1229 2 for Glenn Irwin
01:01:16yeah there's something going on there I'm suspecting tire obviously a long old race this 20 laps of
01:01:23Dunnington Park and he did push on early didn't he when he got out to take the lead and tried to break them
01:01:28I saw of course at Alton Park Leon Haslam saying you know what I'm not done yet and Brooks is doing the same exactly saying well yeah we did see mid-race that Glenn had a little bit of a go at the front did he use too much tire did Brad know what was going on there and
01:01:47and Kyle they haven't had a lot of experience with this tire so you wouldn't think you wouldn't have thought they'd known exactly what was going to happen
01:01:53what a ride this is from McPhee he's up ahead of Andy Irwin now he's up into eighth place great ride given the weekend they've had remind you he's about 35 laps down on some riders and this is his first season
01:02:04on a big back fantastic meantime Brad Ray here closing in this is it yeah brilliant ride for Brad he's about to pick up
01:02:14win number two he won his first BSB races here in 2018 with a double on the build base Suzuki but now for Raceway's Yamaha he rounds Goddards and Ray will take charge of the British Superbike Championship
01:02:27he wins from Kyle Ride and in the background Dow Racing have a podium and it's Josh Brooks back on the rostrum and there might be a few tears
01:02:37there you go brilliant Glenn Irwin takes 4th
01:02:44Rory Skinner solid 5th Haslam is 6th Eden crosses the line in 7th Andy Irwin just gets McPhee on the line for 8th
01:02:53Danny Kent is 10th McConnell is 11th Scots 1 some more points for him despite getting pushed wide after an incident
01:03:00Fraser Rogers with some points there as well and lead Bob Jackson after a nasty fall earlier
01:03:05yeah he saw his lead Bob saw him in the paddock
01:03:07very knocked about
01:03:09oh you have to say for Sommi for Clarissa for Johnny Vagnall
01:03:13yep they really wanted to get serious in BSB we talked about this at Alton
01:03:16yep Sommi's put so much money in
01:03:19absolutely been a Rhodes team known as a Rhodes team a successful Rhodes team mainly with Dean Harrison for years but they want to get it or they wanted to get into a BSB and what a job they've done
01:03:29brilliant congratulations and a fantastic ride as well from Brad Ray what we can say about tomorrow James we've got a sprint race which is a different dynamic and also these teams have now got some data to work on with that tire so there will be changes made we might not get the same outcome tomorrow
01:03:45absolutely not shorter race as well
01:03:48and it's good to see Kyle back up on the podium as well
01:03:51yeah he'll be you know what Kyle's like he'll be happy with that he's always sort of circumspect with what's going on in the weekend he's always safe knows it's a long season
01:03:58and and he plays his cards accordingly you get chance to look at these bikes most if you look at the left hand handlebar and you see a lever sticking almost like it's been bent up that's because that is the clutch and once they're off the line they don't use that because where the clutch used to be most of them have what's called a scooter type brake that's their rear brake on the left hand where the clutch used to be the upper handle is the clutch look there you go
01:04:20Josh Brooks what a day for them brilliant it's fantastic yep they said at the last round at Alton their aim was you know steady but not spectacular top tens let's get some data together and we want a little bit more at Donington well they've certainly delivered yep there
01:04:38so my well done she lives I tell you what you'll do well to stop every celebrating later you will lives in a house that borders the right of the garden goes directly onto the TT course so she's a proper motorcycle fanatic yeah brilliant
01:04:56and a breath of fresh air and a breath of fresh air I'm just gonna say it's so popular because she's a bit different yeah she's so happy all the time to see you Kyle rides first podium of the year for the nitrous competitions OMG Yamaha team
01:05:11as Shannon his crew chief Alan Gardner as well it nearly didn't happen for these guys this year good effort from Kyle and perhaps were he and Glenn not to have squabbled so much he might have been able to do something about Brad but yeah take nothing away from him
01:05:27yep we'll never do it because I think Brad slacked off last lap and half
01:05:30right let's get the results and standings in here from Bennett's BSB we've got the result here Brad Ray wins his second of the season
01:05:401.7 clear of Kyle ride and Josh Brooks is back on the podium in BSB for the Dow racing team Glenn Irwin takes fourth ahead of Skinner Haslam and it's hidden on the Kawasaki and the 0 and 8 John McPhee in the top 10 and Danny Kent in 10 struggle for him so far this weekend there's also points on offer here for McConnell Swan Rogers Jackson and Luke Hedger good work 15 they had Richard Kerr and Jamie Van Sikhelrus
01:06:07we're going to take a quick break when we come back we'll hear from the top three and of course your race winner here
01:06:20Bradley Ray
01:06:20in motion in the Dow racing garage
01:06:29so my Nancy Coon
01:06:31part owner of the team they're celebrating their first ever podium in the Bennett's British Superbike Championship we'll try and get her thoughts in a minute that'll be well worthwhile
01:06:40but in the meantime let's get those of her rider Josh Brooks who's with James Hayden
01:06:46Josh what a fantastic race your first podium for a few years your team's first ever podium in British Superbikes
01:06:55that must feel fantastic it does feel particularly good obviously I've had a few podiums before so I
01:07:00know the feeling but as you mentioned it's not been for a long time and um yeah at no point during this
01:07:05weekend did I really think oh yeah we're in we're in the hunt for a podium here you know I'm just looking
01:07:10always to improve and keep creeping forwards but yeah at no point was it like yeah yeah we're on for a
01:07:15podium this weekend so I just felt like we were struggling to get off the turns and a little bit in the
01:07:19middle of the turn but my braking was good um so I just kept focusing on the areas I could could maintain
01:07:25and um towards the end of the race I think tyres started to play a bit of a a game in it and because I didn't
01:07:31have grip from the start it didn't feel like a big drop at the end to me but the brakes stayed the same all the
01:07:35way through so I kept being able to find a little bit more all the way through the race so
01:07:38yeah I caught just the back of um Kyle's bike with a lap to go which was a bit scary but um the rest of the race felt
01:07:45quite really in control so it was brilliant and I'm obviously thrilled for for Dow racing to to be
01:07:50on a British superbike podium it's great for everyone Josh fantastic great to see you back
01:07:54well done I hope I can be back again thank you certainly will all right now we got car ride Kyle
01:08:02a brilliant race second you led for a lot of it what happened in the middle of the race it seemed like
01:08:06you sort of dropped back and then came back again um it's typical me I've been that used to riding around
01:08:11on my own all weekend that when someone was in front of me I forgot what to do and uh I tried
01:08:16I figured it out best I could um there wasn't pulling away too much so in the middle of the race
01:08:20I tried to save a little bit of tyre for the end um six laps to go I thought the wind was out of the
01:08:24way because I was battling with Glenn and Brad was way up the road but we showed on the last two laps we
01:08:28had pace to to win the race for sure so just need to get a bit of a cleaner middle race and uh hopefully
01:08:34me and Brad can have a race tomorrow afternoon sounds like a plan see you tomorrow cheers James thank you
01:08:38thanks very much okay and now we got the winner Brad Ray come on in Brad Brad another win win
01:08:45number two of the season didn't look easy but uh at the end you broke them yeah no it was um a tough
01:08:51race obviously the tyres were quite difficult at the test so we didn't really know how many laps we
01:08:55could get out of the rear tyre in a race situation obviously the temperatures helped us today but um
01:09:00to be honest when Glenn and Kyle passed I was happy to follow and and see where where I was maybe
01:09:04struggling um it's always easy to follow and save the save the rear tyre um when I got past I just
01:09:10knew I had to do a couple of strong laps um hope that I could uh maybe maybe pull a gap but yeah
01:09:16overall good um we're trying to suss some things out for for the later part of the race tomorrow um
01:09:20try and be a little bit stronger because I think Glenn and Glenn and Kyle will be be strong again so um
01:09:26yeah super happy for the team and uh nice to nice to get a win again great to see you on top of the podium
01:09:30well done thank you yeah two races still to come tomorrow of course sprint race and another feature
01:09:36race will josh brooks be in the mix again tomorrow as he was today what a moment for him and for the
01:09:42Dow racing team and for somai the team owner so my congratulations first of all tell us how you feel
01:09:47after watching that i can't explain how i feel i never expect that too quick you know i i expect myself
01:09:55to slow down step on slowly but i think just pull for me he got power i can do it you've been around
01:10:03a long time in this paddock somai haven't you and in road racing as well where you've had some success
01:10:07but your first podium in super bikes this is now something that you've really started to
01:10:11it seems to invest more in spend more time on and really get serious about i'm now function on the
01:10:18British super bike now i mean i love road racing but one day i want to be number one you know
01:10:25but i don't expect today you know you've you made a change of manufacturer this year somai from
01:10:31kawasaki across to honda how happy are you with the with the performance of the honda now very very
01:10:36happy i'm the honda lover many many years but i've learned kawasaki for 10 years yeah i always in love
01:10:43with the honda it seems especially now especially now so right i know you like to party so we don't
01:10:49want to hold you back any longer you can let yourself go now go and enjoy well done well done
01:10:57oh there will be a party as well uh make no mistake onto the donnington park podium we go then
01:11:05an interesting race there and it really shapes up nicely for tomorrow as we said the sprint race will
01:11:10be different now get this josh brooks 156 podiums in total in bsb he's had 56 wins so that's the
01:11:17hundredth time embedded to bsb he's been either second or third kyle ryde the reigning champion
01:11:23has podium number 41 for him and the first of the year but your race winner yesterday's birthday boy 36
01:11:31bsb podiums the 2022 champions 13th win and second of the season to take the championship lead we're
01:11:42now gonna take a moment for the national anthem for your race winner
01:12:01it's bubbly time here for your top three brad ray car ride and josh brooks is back on the podium as
01:12:29well we've got another sunny day coming up here tomorrow so if you're at home thinking about
01:12:34coming don't miss it if you're staying at home don't miss it we've got two great races bradley
01:12:40ray six points ahead in the championship of glenn irwin leon haslam drops to third kyle ryde
01:12:45gets his name in the frame he's fourth head of brooks who lifts himself to me storm stacy six kent
01:12:50seven skinner eight nesbit knight and lee jackson 10th in the championship
01:12:59yeah brad ray leading the championship then two wins from two rounds so far and once that opportunity
01:13:05opened up for him shaky look he wasn't going to turn it down yeah i think the strategy had to be
01:13:10to uh you know i think james called it right actually yeah he uh james said on the on the commentary there
01:13:15it looked like everybody was playing a bit of a poker game you know everyone was waiting until later in
01:13:18the race just to understand what the tires were going to do but glenn owen made a big mistake here
01:13:22just well not a big mistake he made a bit of a little mistake to be fair just ran a little bit
01:13:26deep that opened the door kyle dive bomb bradley but ran wide so brad cut back and you know it was
01:13:32lap 15 i think of the 20 lap race there and i think brad just thought to himself right okay you know
01:13:36they've made their mistakes i've got to try and pull the pin put a couple of laps together and uh and
01:13:40see if i can break them and that's exactly what he did very much like kyle once he gets to the front
01:13:44james he's he's he's so accurate accurate flowing kyle's problem there was the fact that the guy still
01:13:50has a couple of just a couple of meters on the streets and that's so difficult to get past you
01:13:54can't set anything up glenn knew that both your miles were a little bit better in certain parts
01:13:59of track so he went defensive quite a lot but that actually cost him in the end because he ran wide quite
01:14:03a lot great race loads in it really interesting stuff in that yeah we'll get glenn's thoughts a little
01:14:09bit later on and tommy bridewell as well we need to hear from him after his moment in that race uh
01:14:14just a reminder on a huge weekend the super bikes here on tnt sports but if you missed any
01:14:18action from the world super bikes earlier you can catch highlights tonight from 11 30 p.m
