00:00and that was the first fight card of the semifinals of their tournaments and that was between the
00:05welterweights in that one and the featherweights as well some great fights of course there was a
00:10headline there by thad gene jason jackson matching up in the welterweight semifinals gene the 26
00:15year old american who beat berkhamoff in the first round tko in the first round of the tournament to
00:21get to face jackson that was a late replacement a little surprise there how he came in there and
00:26just dismount to berkhamoff now he goes against jason jackson the ads kicking machine the 34 year
00:30old american who's 19 and 5 inch career former bellator fighter beat koreshkov by second round
00:35rear naked choke to get here well we kind of leaned towards jackson on that last week because we talked
00:40to thad gene we love what he's done so far in his career but you know we thought the experience of
00:45jackson might be able to slow this down might be able to grind out a win over his opponent and you
00:50know that he would be able to not get surprised like thad gene's former opponent did that's not
00:56what happens i mean it is what happened he wasn't surprised but jason jackson does not get the win
01:00thad gene gets it by split decision 30 27 on one card 29 28 on one 28 29 for jackson on the other
01:08and this was a tough one for me you know i thought that jackson was going to be able to grind things
01:12out and it seemed to me like he really did you know i thought the first round thad gene came out
01:17strong drops him with the left hand pretty early in that looks like he it might be a quick night once
01:22again for thad gene but jackson recovers gets him into the clinch against kate eventually gets not
01:27one but two takedowns over the course of the round you know even takes the back with under a minute
01:31left there i thought that uh that might have been enough to seal the round because of course boxing
01:35rules automatically 10-8 for the guy who knocks you down and that may it's not and i thought that
01:39gene kind of slowed down later in the round so i thought jackson might have stole it 10-9
01:42on the takedowns but all three judges gave it to thad gene and that proves to be big for him
01:47obviously because in round two jackson again is talking getting in the clinch does some more
01:52takedowns uh gene tries to turn around but still i thought that it was a better round for jason
01:57jackson and he gets a 10-9 round three both guys are throwing back and forth jackson looking for
02:02some takedowns get some gene uh tries to get some shots here and there and get some as well as a
02:06tight round could have went either way i gave a 10-9 gene i thought it would be 29-28 for jackson
02:12that is not the way the judges see it so a split decision win for gene who is now 10-0 his career
02:16jackson 19 and 6 as he moves uh fails to move on the featherweight semi at jesus pineto versus
02:21gabriel braga they were of course one and one against each other this was the try effect of the
02:25trilogy even though pineto felt that he won both of them he the 28-year-old peruvian was a 2023
02:29featherweight champion he beat bors to get here in the first round ko braga the 26-year-old brazilian
02:34beat dupras by a first round submission to get there i thought pineto would win it pineto does get
02:39the victory a first round tko a minute and 15 in it was a good feeling out early braga actually even
02:45landed a good left hook but pineto was just waiting for his spots waiting to find it with
02:49about a minute left braga came towards him and ate a short right hook that shook him pineto jumped
02:53on him and continued to just pummel his opponent and win the fight with a good combo and that is the
02:59end of the pineto now 26-6-1 braga now 17-3 as pineto moves on another welterweight semi was
03:06between logan storley the teammate of jason jackson who we talked to a couple weeks ago and masayuki
03:10kakuri kakuri the 29-year-old japanese fighter who fought mostly in pancrates for his career
03:15and had beat bashar by retirement after the second round to get to here surely the 32-year-old american
03:20had 12 fights in bellator and three in the pfl before joining this tournament had beat luciano
03:24by unanimous decision after a switch on the day of the fight uh overwhelmed his opponent we thought he
03:29would do the same here that it would just be another decision win for him just you know using that
03:33grappling and he does unanimous decision 30 27 29 27 29 28 i don't know how he got 29 27
03:40unless that was just red wrong either way he gets all three i thought uh that kakuri might have
03:45taken the second round i thought he did a much better job keeping at the feet trying to stop the
03:49takedowns and landing some good shots in that second round but i could see it going to storley
03:53too because it was a very close fight so coming to the third round that was going to be key and
03:57storley gets it gets the early takedown just smothers his opponent the whole time i had a 29 28
04:02on my scorecard storley is now 18 and 3 kakuri now 11 3 and 1
