You also have the welterweight Logan Storley going against Joseph Luciano.
00:04
Of course, Storley, the longtime U.S. wrestler, was supposed to fight Umolatov,
00:08
but Umolatov missed weight by almost four pounds, 3.6 pounds he missed.
00:13
So they yanked him out of the fight.
00:15
Not acceptable, not good enough.
00:16
You're gone.
00:17
Joseph Luciano now jumps in.
00:19
The Australian was 10-3 with seven submission wins before this fight.
00:23
He had one Bellator Champion Series fight before getting the main call-up here.
00:26
And really, this was all of Storley.
00:30
You know, he just dominated using that wrestling, taking his opponent down,
00:33
trying to get the back, trying to, you know, push him up against the cage over and over and over.
00:37
10-9s, all three rounds, 30-27 across the board.
00:41
He moves on to the next round of this tournament.
00:43
We'll see if anybody stopped that wrestling that he showed in his next matchup.
00:47
Luciano now 10-3.
00:48
Storley is 17-3.
00:50
He'll face off against Masayaku Kikuri, who won his fight earlier in the night.
00:56
Another featherweight battle was Jeremy Kennedy versus Moliv Habibulov.
01:00
Kennedy, the Canadian, going against the Russian Habibulov, who won the 2021 PFL featherweight tournament.
01:05
Hadn't fought since 2023.
01:07
And this one was a victory for Habibulov, who gets a split decision win over Kennedy.
01:14
A very interesting one back and forth.
01:15
Kennedy did not like the decision.
01:17
It was 29-28.
01:18
All three ways, Habibulov got the win.
01:22
Kennedy couldn't believe it, but I don't know why he couldn't believe it, honestly.
01:25
When I was watching the fight, I thought Kennedy had a good first round,
01:28
although the second and third were Habibulov.
01:30
I thought he was doing a much better job of doing what he wanted to do, imposing his will,
01:34
getting some good strikes, getting the takedowns to take his opponent against the mat.
01:38
I am not sure why Kennedy really thought he won that fight, but he obviously did not.
01:43
Not in the judges' eyes, not in my eyes.
01:45
And now Habibulov, who's on as well.
01:48
On the prelim card, you had Berkmanov against Thad Jean.
01:51
Before I mentioned Thad Jean, who will be going on to semis, obviously.
01:54
Before I get into this, you know now he was the winner.
01:56
Berkmanov was the 31-year-old Russian.
01:58
He was supposed to fight Zendeli, the PFL Europe champ, who was pulled out.
02:02
So the alternate Thad Jean steps in on show notice.
02:04
26-year-old American did what he wanted to do.
02:07
He came in there, got the victory, showed why he was undefeated.
02:11
He had a couple wins in the PFL over the last few years.
02:13
And then now gets another one.
02:15
He got a first-round KO, 425 into the first round.
02:19
You know, it was a lot of feeling out early on.
02:22
And Berkmanov went for the takedown early on.
02:25
But Jean threw on the guillotine to stop him.
02:27
You know, was able to, a couple other times, stop takedowns to the point that
02:30
was really selling out to stop the takedowns.
02:31
Berkmanov, you know, actually faked takedowns and then jumped up trying to
02:35
throw some knees a couple times to see if he can catch his opponent.
02:38
He could not.
02:38
But then later in the fight, as we get laid into the round, you got a body
02:43
kick with a body punch followed right away by Jean with about 40 seconds left.
02:46
Berkmanov then catches a left hook that drops it to the mat.
02:50
Jean jumps on his opponent, pounces on him, continues the pommel, gets the finish.
02:54
Berkmanov moves to 17-3.
02:56
Jean is now 9-0.
02:57
And he said it didn't matter who was in front of him.
03:00
He was supposed to be here a couple years ago running this tournament and didn't work
03:02
out.
03:03
Now he's going to do it here.
03:04
And he is going to get a badass matchup against Jason, the ass-kicking machine.
03:08
Jackson, these two guys, should give us some great stand-up.
03:11
Can't wait to watch that.
03:12
As we mentioned before in the featherweight tournament, Gabriel Braga beat Fred Dupras.
03:16
Braga, the 26-year-old Brazilian, was supposed to be fighting Yves Landu.
03:21
But Landu pulled out late.
03:23
Instead, the alternate fighter, Fred Dupras, the Canadian, moves up, making his major
03:27
promotion debut for a lot in Canada before that.
03:30
And Braga gets the first round of submission, 437.
03:32
He gets the face crank.
03:35
You know, his opponent came game.
03:36
The Canadian came in, was pretty much rushing him.
03:39
But then he gets, Dupras threw the guillotine on Braga when Braga came for the takedown.
03:45
You know, Dupras threw it on there.
03:46
It was tight.
03:47
Dupras, Dupras was in trouble.
03:49
But being the veteran that he is, was able to wait it out, get out, eventually gets the
03:53
back of his opponent later on when the position switches.
03:56
Went for the rear naked choke, couldn't get it.
03:58
But the face crank was enough that the Canadian taps out with 23 seconds left.
04:02
He's now 8-2.
04:03
Braga, 16-2.
04:04
You also had Kikuri versus Giannis Bashar that we talked about earlier.
04:08
Kikuri from Japan.
04:09
Mostly Pancrease fighter.
04:10
Bashar, the Tunisian fighter who's now fighting out of Greece for all small promotion fights
04:14
before this one.
04:15
Kikuri gets the TKO by round two retirement.
04:18
Kikuri was going for some takedowns.
04:19
Kikuri was doing a good job stuffing him.
04:21
Towards the end of the first round, he looked like Bashar might have been getting tired.
04:24
In the second round, Kikuri, by the end of that round, started picking him apart.
04:27
And then Bashar decides he doesn't even want to get off the stool to answer the bell for the final round.
04:31
Figured, I guess, that he was, you know, too tired to come back from the two rounds that he was probably down.
04:36
He also had Kim over Kelly.
04:38
Kim making his major promotion debut, beating Kelly, who's now on a two-fight losing streak.
04:42
After being undefeated before that, he gets the submission win in that fight.
04:47
Rear naked choke.
04:47
Four minutes and 53 seconds into the first round.
04:50
Rear naked choke.
05:04
Rear naked choke.
05:06
vegetables.
05:08
saúde.
05:10
horse.
