02:06From ABC News World Headquarters in New York, this is World News Tonight with David Muir.
02:19Good evening, and it's great to have you with us here on a very busy Wednesday night.
02:21We do begin tonight with protests now spreading across this country from Los Angeles to Chicago.
02:26A protest underway right here in New York City at this hour, sparked by sweeping immigration raids and President Trump's military response.
02:33And tonight, here, the images of ICE agents chasing farm workers through the fields and the arrests at a meatpacking plant.
02:39In the past 24 hours, large rallies and marches in New York, Chicago, Denver, Atlanta, Boston, San Francisco, and other cities, too.
02:47At least 200 arrested overnight.
02:48And tonight, here, new images of what protesters say is fueling their outrage.
02:53ICE agents chasing farm workers through a strawberry field.
02:56This is Oxnard, California, making arrests there.
02:58Protesters trying to stop agents arriving at a meat production plant.
03:02This is playing out in Omaha, Nebraska.
03:04Dozens of workers were handcuffed with zip ties and taken away in a bus.
03:08In Los Angeles, surveillance video appearing to show federal agents boxing in a car and then using tear gas.
03:13Detaining the driver reported leaving two children and their mother behind.
03:16And ICE posting this image from an enforcement operation in Los Angeles.
03:21The National Guard with weapons out protecting the operation.
03:24And tonight, as these protests spread, the governor of Texas now deploying the National Guard there.
03:30ABC's back up and leading us off from Los Angeles tonight.
03:33Tonight, tensions building in the city of Los Angeles after over 200 were arrested overnight.
03:40An anger over the Trump administration's immigration crackdown and its deployment of federal troops to L.A.
03:46boiling over into other major U.S. cities.
03:50From Baltimore to Chicago, where a car drove through a group of demonstrators, 17 arrested there.
03:58In Boston, hundreds outside the statehouse.
04:03Protesters in Seattle clashing with police.
04:07And in New York City, demonstrators protesting workplace arrests they say are stoking fear throughout communities, coast to coast.
04:14And tonight, those jarring images from Southern California.
04:19ICE agents filmed chasing farm workers through strawberry fields around 6 a.m. Tuesday.
04:25And in Omaha, Nebraska, the state's largest yet immigration sweep targeting a meat production plant.
04:30Dozens arrested there.
04:32They just came in and said that it was a raid and we had to get everybody out of production.
04:36Outside the plant, protesters jumping on a vehicle to try to stop law enforcement.
04:44And back in Los Angeles.
04:45This is the connoisseur from the tear gas that they threw at her.
04:49That dramatic surveillance video appearing to show federal agents boxing in this car, reportedly using tear gas on the passengers and detaining the driver, leaving a toddler, an infant and their mother behind.
05:00The Department of Homeland Security saying in a statement the suspect was wanted for punching an officer.
05:06Another image drawing sharp criticism tonight, pictures of armed National Guardsmen accompanying ICE officers on a raid.
05:13Major General Scott Sherman in charge of those military personnel staging just outside of Los Angeles, saying his troops will not only protect agents, but will detain demonstrators.
05:22So strictly for the protection of the federal personnel and the protection of the federal building, they're allowed to temporarily detain and wait for law enforcement to come and arrest them.
05:38In an emotional press conference, 30 Southern California mayors coming together, Arturo Flores, the mayor of Huntington Park, and a combat veteran appealing to the military.
05:47These are Americans. And when we lifted our hands and we started the oath to defend the Constitution and to defend this country, that oath was to the American people.
05:57It was not to a dictator. It was not to a tyrant. It was not to a president. It was to the American people.
06:02In the wake of those violent protests, a rare address to California and the nation from Governor Gavin Newsom, calling Trump's decision to activate about 4,800 troops, more than the number deployed in Iraq and Syria, theatrics and traumatizing.
06:17When Donald Trump sought blanket authority to commandeer the National Guard, he made that order apply to every state in this nation.
06:25This is about all of us. This is about you.
06:28California may be first, but it clearly will not end here. Other states are next.
06:33And on Capitol Hill today, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth seeming to confirm that, telling lawmakers the National Guard could be deployed to other immigration protests across the country.
06:44Part of it is getting ahead of a problem so that if in other places, if there are other riots and places where law enforcement officers are threatened, we would have the capability to surge National Guard there if necessary.
06:58And just hours ago, Texas Governor Greg Abbott mobilizing the Texas National Guard to San Antonio, where large-scale peaceful protests are planned.
07:07We want to make sure that what has happened in California does not happen in Texas.
07:11David, I just got off with Governor Newsom's team, who tells me that he was particularly disturbed to see those images of ICE agents chasing those farm workers through the strawberry fields here in Southern California.
07:23You can see it's pretty subdued out here today. Still a curfew is in effect for parts of downtown Los Angeles tonight and tomorrow night. David.
07:30Matt Guppman with the images from Los Angeles and across the country. Matt, thank you.
07:34Now to the breaking news here in New York tonight, this split verdict in the Harvey Weinstein trial.
07:38And we're learning more at this hour about the chaos and anger inside the jury room.
07:43The foreman sending a note to the judge saying, quote, I can't go back in there with other jurors.
07:48I feel afraid inside there. ABC's Aaron Katursky and what he's learned tonight.
07:53After days of chaos and infighting among jurors tonight, a split verdict in the sex crimes retrial of Harvey Weinstein.
08:00The one time Hollywood kingpin found guilty of sexually assaulting production assistant Mimi Haley in 2006.
08:07To those predators who still believe they can exploit, abuse and walk away unscathed, your time is running out.
08:15The jury acquitted Weinstein of sexually assaulting a former model, Kaya Sokola, when she was 19.
08:20Tonight, she is still declaring victory.
08:22I am very happy of today's verdict. It's a big win for everyone.
08:28Harvey Weinstein will be in jail.
08:30The verdict came after the defense asked for a mistrial over discord in the deliberation room.
08:35The jury foreman, who had accused fellow jurors of attacking one another, sent a note telling the judge, I can't go back in there with the other jurors.
08:42The foreman said other jurors were yelling at him, trying to change his mind.
08:46I feel afraid inside there. I can't be inside there.
08:50The judge said he would order a cooling off period.
08:52Weinstein then spoke directly to the judge.
08:55You are endangering me, your honor. I am not getting a fair trial.
08:58But a short time later, that jury reaching a unanimous verdict on two of the three counts.
09:04Just extraordinary, David. The jury foreman saying they keep attacking me.
09:08The judge reminding jurors they need to be civil when they return tomorrow to decide the most serious count, accusing Harvey Weinstein of rape.
09:15David, the split verdict and an extraordinary scene in that jury room.
09:19Thank you, Aaron.
09:19Next tonight, U.S. authorities now confirming the death of a missing female sailor who vanished from her barracks in Norfolk, Virginia.
09:25Her body has been found in the woods.

09:31Here's Whit Johnson.
09:32Tonight, the Navy confirms they found the body of missing sailor Angelina Resendiz.
09:38And a fellow sailor is now in pretrial confinement in connection with her death.
09:42Resendiz was 21 years old, a culinary specialist assigned to the USS James E. Williams, a destroyer based in Norfolk, Virginia.
09:50She disappeared from her barracks on May 29th.
09:53The Virginia State Police issuing a critically missing adult alert on June 3rd.
09:57Her body was found Monday, a week later, in a wooded area of the city.
10:01Navy officials have not released her cause of death or the identity of the sailor in custody.
10:06This person is a real person.
10:09She's a human being.
10:10Her mother, Esmeralda Castle, critical of the Navy's investigation, saying she was not properly notified of her disappearance through official channels
10:18and that instead, she was only informed unofficially by her daughter's staff and media coverage.
10:24The family is calling for Congress to investigate her death and how the family was notified.
10:28David, Navy investigators say charges for the sailor in custody are still pending, but insist they are committed to ensuring accountability and justice.
10:38David.
10:39All right, Whit Johnson with us tonight.
10:40Whit, thank you, as always.
10:41Tonight, ABC News up over Washington, D.C. with the Secret Service.
10:45What will this military parade look like and the security tonight?
10:49And President Trump's warning for any protesters.
10:51The White House pressed on this today and what they said about protests.
10:55ABC's Victoria Kenda with the Secret Service flying over the nation's capital tonight.
11:00Tonight, we suited up and boarded a U.S. Park Police helicopter with the Secret Service for an exclusive aerial tour over the nation's capital.
11:08As authorities begin securing President Trump's massive military parade set for Saturday, which coincides with the President's birthday.
11:17The entire area around the White House has been completely transformed.
11:21From above, we can see the nearly 20 miles of fencing leading right up to where President Trump will be on Saturday.
11:28Authorities tell me this will be the safest place in the world.
11:31We saw dozens of tanks lined up near the National Mall and this very close flyby, the Washington Monument.
11:38People waving at you from the windows.
11:40Authorities then taking us behind the scenes on the ground.
11:43We're expecting hundreds of thousands of people on the mall.
11:46You will see a stands here full of our dignitaries and VIPs to include the President.
11:50That's where the President will be?
11:51Yep, right up there.
11:52The parade will feature nearly 7,000 soldiers, 28 tanks, as well as dozens of armored fighting vehicles, and just added mounted rocket launchers and precision-guided missiles.
12:03The military display, the White House says, is to mark the Army's 250th birthday.
12:09The price tag, up to $45 million.
12:13President Trump warned protesters would be met with very big force.
12:17The White House, pressed on this again tonight, said they do support peaceful protests.
12:21David, Victor, Akendo, in Washington, flying over the Capitol for us today.
12:25Victor, thank you.
12:26Tonight here, we remember Brian Wilson, the gifted singer, songwriter, and, of course, leader of the Beach Boys, an artistic genius who left his peers in awe.
12:34Tonight here, his music, his personal battles, and his influence, his music defining an era.
12:40Here are the Beach Boys.
12:41Here are the Beach Boys.
12:51Brian Wilson was the leader, the chief songwriter for the Beach Boys.
12:56They were the kings of the summer anthem.
12:59There was I Get Around.
13:00Round, round, get around, I get around, yeah, get around, round, round, I get around.
13:06Nineteen-year-old Brian Wilson, with his brothers Dennis and Carl, cousin Mike Love, and their good friend Al Jardine, becoming the Beach Boys, the defining American band of that era.
13:18Brian Wilson didn't surf, but his gift for music left his peers in awe.
13:23You're for me, buddy, and I'm across the U.S.A.
13:29Their breakthrough, Surfin' U.S.A. in 1963.
13:35And it was Brian who took the harmonies the group perfected as high schoolers in Hawthorne, California, and turned them into rock and roll royalty.
13:46Writing, arranging, and producing most of their catalog, singing as the lead co-vocalist, and playing the guitar and keyboard, too.
14:01Writing a wave of success, with so many hits, including Help Me Rhonda, California Girls.
14:12And Don't Worry Baby.
14:16Don't Worry Baby.
14:19Don't Worry Baby.
14:21Everything wants to know.
14:23Don't Worry Baby.
14:25Who determines, Brian, what will be done next?
14:29Well, I guess I do. I don't know.
14:31I write the songs and produce them, so I have a lot to say about it.
14:34There was fun, fun, fun.
14:35And she'll have fun, fun, fun, too.
14:38That takes a deeper to wear.
14:40Fun, fun, fun, too.
14:41That takes a deeper to wear.
14:42Now the girls can take a deeper to wear.
14:43They would dominate the charts.
14:45Rise again.
14:46But Brian Wilson would acknowledge he had trouble with the fame.
14:52He would take a break from touring, overwhelmed by the band's success.
14:56Two years later, in 1966, writing the band's most critically acclaimed album, Pet Sounds.
15:02It wasn't a commercial hit at first.
15:04It was different.
15:05It was deep.
15:06Paul McCartney saying it was that album that blew me out of the water.
15:10McCartney saying, I figured no one is educated musically till they've heard that album.
15:16Wouldn't it be nice if we were over there.
15:20That album with the classic Wouldn't It Be Nice, now considered one of the greatest albums
15:25of all time.
15:27Wouldn't it be nice if we were over there.
15:32McCartney saying God Only Knows reduces him to tears.
15:34Good Vibrations followed shortly after, selling more than a million copies, more than any other
15:46Beach Boys single.
15:47I'm picking up the vibration.
15:51She's giving me the excitation.
15:54But Brian Wilson would struggle, saying once, I had a hell of a time getting through some
15:59of the frustrations that go along with being a successful artist.
16:02I was riding a wave, riding a crest.
16:05Then later on, I got scared.
16:07I got lost.
16:07He struggled with mental health and drugs.
16:11Brian Wilson died today at the age of 82, the last surviving brother.
16:15And through the years, when asked how he wanted to be remembered, he would often say, I just
16:20hope people will remember me, as a guy who really wrote good music.
16:24I think that music is very healing.
16:26It puts me into a quiet place to create or to do what I'm supposed to do.
16:31His music defining an era.
16:33Incredible impact.
16:43And we are hearing from the daughters tonight, Brian Wilson's daughters, Carney and Wendy.
16:47We are deeply saddened to say goodbye to our hero and daddy.
16:50We know how he touched so many people with his musical gifts, and we are so thankful for
16:54the support.
16:55They end by saying, may he rest in peace in music.
16:58And what we also found in the archives today, the Beach Boys on 2020, showing us at a very
17:03rare and candid moment, how they harmonize.
17:06And you're going to see that moment coming up.
17:09Also, when we come back tonight here in New York City, the crypto kidnapping case turning
17:12more disturbing.
17:13Prosecutors now say they set the victim on fire and cut him with a chainsaw.
17:16And the dangerous chemical leak at an explosives plant, forcing evacuations.
17:20You can see that orange cloud right there hovering in the sky.
17:23We'll have more on this in a moment here.
17:24A lot more ahead.
17:25Tonight in New York City, the crypto kidnapping case.
17:29The two defendants pleading not guilty.
17:31Prosecutors accusing them of holding a cryptocurrency investor captive for 17 days, trying to get
17:36his Bitcoin password, they say.
17:38Prosecutors now allege that they allegedly tortured the suspect inside that townhouse, dousing the
17:42victim in tequila, setting him on fire, and cutting him with a small chainsaw.
17:47The defense denying the allegations, insisting there's video of the alleged victim, quote, having
17:52the time of his life.
17:53When we come back here tonight, that dangerous chemical leak, an orange cloud in the sky, and
17:58the rare moment with Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys, and you'll see it.
18:02To the index, a chemical leak at an explosives plant forced hundreds of evacuations in Vinton
18:07County, Ohio.
18:08Authorities say about 3,000 gallons of nitric acid were released from a 5,000-gallon tank at
18:13the Austin Powder Plant.
18:14An orange cloud spotted it in the air for a time.
18:17The evacuation order was lifted late today.
18:19No employees were hurt.
18:20When we come back here tonight, that rare, candid moment with Brian Wilson and the Beach
18:25Boys, showing us how they harmonized.

18:32Sponsored by Vivgard Hytrulo and Vivgard.
18:36Finally tonight here, Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys.
18:39As we were pouring through past interviews, we found a moment on 2020 back in 1980.
18:43The song, Their Hearts Were Full of Spring.
18:46Brian Wilson spontaneously showing how they harmonized.
18:49The whole thing together is, there's a story told of a very gentle boy and the girl who wore
19:09years ring.
19:13Through the wintry snow, the world they knew was one.
19:22For their hearts were full of spring.
19:27Celebrating Brian Wilson and his musical genius.
