00:00We hear about these things weeks in advance of the possibility of a trade.
00:03Devers traded right out from under us on Sunday night
00:07from the Boston Red Sox over to the San Francisco Giants.
00:10Your thoughts when you saw Raphael Devers on the move?
00:15Apparently the 0-19 start and them asking him to take a seat
00:18is still doing, right?
00:20That's what it kind of felt like.
00:21It just kind of felt like it was a residual over from the beginning of the year
00:25and the acrimony that started between these two teams.
00:27And clearly the Red Sox are in the habit of dealing high-level players
00:31who have big contracts that were cornerstone pieces of their franchise
00:35to teams out in California.
00:36So it's not like we haven't seen this script before from Boston.
00:39But, I mean, objectively, the problem is that the Red Sox didn't get better in the trade
00:44in any size, way, shape, or form.
00:46I mean, the San Francisco Giants got objectively one of the 15 best hitters
00:50in all of Major League Baseball.
00:52And the Boston Red Sox, in return, got not one of the other 14 best hitters
01:00in Major League Baseball.
01:02So you didn't get better.
01:04And that's a problem.
01:05I mean, look, as a Yankee fan, I'm happy to see Devers go
01:07because he absolutely owned the Yankees for years
01:10and destroyed Yankee pitching across the board.
01:12But this wasn't a move that Boston said, hey, we're in all-in mode right now.
01:18They sold off salary, and they're looking younger,
01:21and I don't know that they're recovering.
01:22I would tell you this much.
01:24Bet a lot of Boston team total unders until further notice.
