00:00Speaking to G7 leaders in a video message, exiled opposition leader and son of the last
00:06Shah of Iran Reza Pahlavi said now was an opportunity for the Iranian people to finally
00:11liberate themselves, echoing calls from Israel, including from the Israeli Prime Minister,
00:17for regime change in Iran.
00:20As the two countries continue to strike each other, prominent Iranian activists, including
00:25Nobel Peace Prize laureates and filmmakers, have called in an op-ed in Le Monde newspaper
00:30for an end to war, as well as for the resignation of Iran's current leaders, arguing that the
00:36nuclear program did not serve the interests of the Iranian people.
00:40This Israeli historian said that Israel's actions could lead to internal unrest that may result
00:46in the toppling of the Islamic Republic.
00:48The Iranian regime is extremely, extremely corrupt.
00:52In this place, to Israel's advantage, it's very easy to buy agents in Iran.
00:57And also, there are many people who oppose the regime, who willingly cooperate with Israel.
01:02Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has weathered a series of challenges in recent
01:07years, including international sanctions that have devastated Iran's economy and nationwide
01:12protests that were ruthlessly repressed, most recently during the women-led uprising from
01:172022 to 2023.
01:21So far during this war, though, there have been no reports or protests.
01:25Iranians both at home and abroad say an uprising is very unlikely while they're under attack
01:30from Israel.
01:31The Iranian opposition remains riven by division.
01:35And no matter how disgruntled they are with the regime, Iranians appear to be favouring unity
01:40in the face of Israeli bombs.
