00:00This one is the Grade 3 Eatontown. We're going to switch surfaces, so we'll go to the turf course, and we'll go a mile and a sixteenth on the turf course.
00:07These are the fillies and the mares, three-year-olds and up.
00:10David, we're going to start out with a horse who is really, really talented.
00:14We watched some of her races over in Argentina, and we actually have a replay of one of those races we can show you.
00:20That is Maggie Go. She has a lot of ability. She's never been worse than third in her five starts.
00:26She even had a little bit of traffic trouble in this race where she had to kind of wait behind horses and then shift out.
00:32So all positives about what she's done on the track, but we haven't seen her race since June 28th of 2024, and we have never seen her race in the U.S.
00:44So while everything she's done so far has been pretty impressive, this is going to be a lot to ask for her shipping over to the U.S.
00:51and coming off about a year layoff for a horse that we know is going to get bet.
00:56She's going to be a pretty short price.
00:57So she's the type of favorite who, as gamblers, we're supposed to try to poke some holes in, right?
01:04Yeah, she's a horse that was thrust into Group 1 Stakes Company in just the fourth start of her career,
01:09and that's the highest level of competition in Argentina or really any country of horses running.
01:13So that she was regarded as one of the best horses of her generation in Argentina is a good sign for her prospects coming into this grade three race in the United States.
01:21But as you said, there are so many uncertainties around this horse.
01:24She's been off for so long, hasn't raced in nearly a year.
01:27All of her races were against her own age group when she was a younger horse.
01:31Sometimes the form from South America doesn't always translate to North America.
01:35And she's going to be a very short price, not just because of the form, but also because she's coming into the Chad Brown stable.
01:40And Chad Brown, one of the best turf trainers, arguably the best turf trainer in the country.
01:44You just kind of assume he's going to win with these horses.
01:46But this particular one does have some real obstacles to overcome.
01:50The number two, five towns is a solid horse at in levels and spots like this.
01:56Kind of a grade three to maybe ungraded stakes type horse comes off of a fourth place finish last time out.
02:04She'll make the third start of her form cycle.
02:06She wouldn't be a major shock in here.
02:09She's just the type of horse who I'd probably want a little bit bigger price than she'll be to bet on her on Saturday.
02:14But I think she fits pretty well with this group.
02:16Yeah, Chad Brown has a couple of wild cards in here.
02:19We'll see if we get their best efforts.
02:20If both of those two horses that bookend this field don't show up at their best races,
02:25five towns is kind of the one you can rely upon to win a race like this because she fits really well in this kind of race.
02:30She typically gets good trips in her races because she's got nice versatility
02:33where she can be placed up close to the pace.
02:35She can come from a little bit further back.
02:37Doesn't win all the time, but she usually runs her race so you know what you're going to get.
02:41I think for the three, Ozara, who we move to next, she's the type of filly who I think she has a really high floor,
02:49but not necessarily one of the higher ceilings.
02:51Like you kind of know what you're going to get from her.
02:53She puts up a pretty good effort every time, but I don't really know how good she is, David.
02:58A lot of the times she kind of benefits from being in kind of soft races or getting really good trips.
03:04I think both the one Maggie go and maybe even horses like the seven could be better than her down the line,
03:10but she might be just a little more ready on Saturday with some recent races and some recent form.
03:16Here's a look at Ozara winning this race on April the 26th over at Gulfstream Park.
03:22She's consistent.
03:22She's won five of her 10.
03:24She just is the type of horse who you wonder if she's kind of hit her ceiling now,
03:28and she can't really get much better or much faster than she's been.
03:32Yeah, and even though she's five for 10 in her career, Gino,
03:35I kind of feel watching a few of those races like maybe she should have won more of them
03:38because you watch her and it seems like she's right there to win a few times
03:42and doesn't always seal the deal.
03:43So we'll see if she can move forward again in a race like this,
03:46but at least she is coming off the best effort of her career in that race we just took a look at.
03:50I'm not the biggest fan of hers, but I wouldn't be totally shocked because she does seem to be in good form.
03:55Lady Firefoot was a winner last time out,
03:58but she got a pretty perfect setup in that particular race, David,
04:02and in the races before that, she had four races where she was facing Stakes Company.
04:06She's a little overmatched when she faced Tougher Group.
04:10So what do you think she fits in a spot like this Lady Firefoot?
04:15Yeah, she's a horse that when she's tried Stakes like this in the past,
04:18she's gotten some journeys during her race that have been a little bit unlucky,
04:22losing ground, going wide on the turns and things like that.
04:24She got into the right spot last time at Aqueduct, beat a weaker field,
04:28but she was only facing three rivals that day,
04:30and she's just stepping into a much tougher spot in here.
04:33Delightful Ava is a New Jersey bred, so she'll be at home at Monmouth Park,
04:38but she's never really been running races that are fast enough
04:42or quite good enough at this level to feel competitive with the top horses.
04:47I think you pointed out earlier, maybe we could see her towards the front in here,
04:51stretching out, but I had a hard time making a case for her.
04:54Yeah, she's a horse that, based on form, is kind of hard to like from a wind perspective.
04:58Maybe she could influence the way this race is run,
05:00because she at least has shown speed, especially in some races going shorter than this,
05:04which leads you to believe that she could make the lead here if they wanted to.
05:08It would just be a shock if she took them all the way up front.
05:10The number six, DeMasso, goes out for trainer Kathleen O'Connell,
05:15one of the all-time great female trainers.
05:17And DeMasso comes off of a fourth-place finish where she showed a little bit of speed,
05:22was kind of sitting, and then moved to the lead, got tired late,
05:26ran like a race that she probably needed after a couple months off,
05:30and she does have a little bit of versatility in here.
05:33There's not that much speed, so she'll probably be one of the horses that is close up.
05:37But what's nice about her is she can adapt and show some different running styles if need be.
05:42Yeah, she was competitive in a race that was of similar quality to this last time.
05:46That was a race won by a Chad Brown trainee in Spalade,
05:49who might be a little bit better than some of the horses that she's running against in here.
05:53And she just got a little tired at the end of that race,
05:55so maybe coming off a little bit of a break between her start to back and the last run,
05:59she'll be a bit fitter for this race.
06:01But she probably does need to produce a career-best effort to beat a field like this.
06:05Rounding out the field, David, is a real wild card in this race,
06:08and that's Whiskey Decision.
06:10This filly had a really nice 2024 where she won three races in a row,
06:15including a stakes race, and then she stepped up into graded stakes company.
06:20And when she did, she had a couple things go wrong for her in races.
06:26And she's still a horse who, at the point last year when she stepped up,
06:30she might have been a little immature and maybe not quite as strong mentally
06:34as some of the other horses she was facing.
06:36But now she comes into the Chad Brown barn.
06:38He's going to take over the training.
06:40So if anyone can get a horse like this figured out that has ability, it's Chad Brown.
06:45Yeah, she was just really unsettled in her last three races last year.
06:49She was pulling on her jockeys, trying to do too much too soon in those races,
06:52and it took away from her ability to finish.
06:55But when she had things together mentally early in her career,
06:58she showed the kind of ability that would win a race like this.
07:01And just comparing the prices between her and the other Chad Brown training in this race,
07:06Go Maggie, I mean, Go Maggie's 8 to 5 or plus 160 on the morning line.
07:11Whiskey Decision, plus 400.
07:12I think they have similar chances to win, so I would much rather take the bigger price.
