00:00Come with me as I visit the Ibera Star Selection Es Trenk, a new five-star hotel that's just opened
00:06on the south coast of Mallorca. The hotel has a really calm and peaceful vibe with natural
00:12Mediterranean style decor and an unusually shaped curved pool that's right on the seafront.
00:18There's also a wellness area with a gym and treatment cabins and all the rooms are doubles
00:23with sea views. I stayed in this gorgeous signature suite, waking up and opening the
00:29balcony doors to that view every morning was a real treat. I also got to enjoy the perks that
00:35come with the star prestige rooms including access to this rooftop terrace with an infinity pool and
00:41bar. The sun came out just in time for us to enjoy cocktails with that stunning view on our first
00:46night. The hotel has two restaurants. The first is the buffet restaurant where guests can enjoy food
00:53included on the board packages. There's fish and steaks cooked to order and the breakfast was so
00:58fresh. I was really impressed by the quality of the ingredients. The best bit was enjoying these
01:03sunsets while looking out onto the Mediterranean Sea and the hotel also has live evening entertainment
01:09every night which was perfect for after dinner. There's also an a la carte restaurant, Salavent,
01:15which has a maritime theme. We tucked into delicious seafood and local recipes in this Mediterranean
01:22restaurant. It's not included on the board packages but I would recommend at least one dinner here
01:28in your stay. The hotel sources its salt from the nearby Salinas Diaz Trenk salt flats and we enjoyed
01:35a tour around the site. It was so interesting to see how the salt is produced using all natural methods
01:41and to make the Flor de Sol, the high quality salt that's used by Michelin restaurants,
01:46these Salinos or salt farmers painstakingly harvest the salt by hand. We got to watch them in action and
01:53even harvest some salt ourselves to take home. But there were so many other food highlights from
01:58this trip, too many to mention. From family run restaurants serving fish baked in salt and of
02:04course paella on the beach. I'd never visited the Balearic Islands before and this southwest corner of
02:11Mallorca is so low back and peaceful. We got a private boat tour where we dipped in the crystal clear waters
02:17and the hotel is near the famous Es Trenk beach which stretches over two kilometres along Mallorca's
02:24southern coast. I left feeling so rejuvenated and would recommend it to anyone wanting a bit of R&R
02:31in the sunshine.
