00:00Nothing says summer for me more than rosé wine, and even better, a boxed version of rosé wine.
00:07Hi, I'm Holly Alden, a food and drink writer for National World.
00:10Discounts supermarket Aldi has launched its very own version of the viral chicken wine.
00:16Actually, it launched it last year in a bottled version, but this summer it has brought out a brand new version, which is boxed.
00:24Now, I don't know about you, but I just love drinking boxed wine in the summer.
00:27I think it's because it's something you can take on the go, whether to a picnic or a camping trip, and rosé wine is also an absolute summer must-have for me.
00:38And now Aldi has released their very own boxed rosé wine, which is Le Petit Poulet.
00:45Now, if this brandon looks a little bit familiar, that's because it is supposed to be a cheaper alternative to the viral chicken wine.
00:52I absolutely adore the chicken wine, which has an incredibly hard-to-pronounce French name.
00:58It is absolutely delicious. It's a great drink in the summer.
01:01In fact, last summer, it went absolutely crazy on social media, and I was one of many wine lovers who were drinking it back then.
01:09But, of course, Aldi has come in with their own version, which is, of course, a lot cheaper.
01:13But let's see if it tastes just as good.
01:17I'm going to break it open and have a sip and see if it is worth purchasing this summer.
01:23But before we do this, I have actually unboxed the wine, which I know you're not meant to do.
01:27I'm going to put it back together to have the real authenticity of drinking from boxed wine.
01:31But just to show you exactly how much wine is included in this, this is what we got.
01:36So this equals to 1.5 litres of wine, which is supposed to stay fresh for up to six weeks.
01:43And it has an alcohol content of 12.5.
01:46So I think this wine would be good for sharing among friends and loved ones at a party or a picnic, like I said.
01:53Or maybe resealing and drinking over the course of a few weeks.
01:58I have poured myself a glass. I'm going to take a sip.
02:01But before I do, I just want to note the colour, because I think there's different types of rosy wine.
02:08And it all depends on the colour.
02:10Now, for me, I prefer ones like this, which are kind of more of a blush.
02:15It's got a bit of an orange sort of tinge to it.
02:19Rosy wines, which are a lot deeper in colour, I tend not to like the taste of.
02:24And this is exactly the colour of the Viral Chicken Wine as well.
02:29So, so far, it looks identical.
02:30Let's see how it tastes.
02:34That is amazing.
02:36You know what?
02:37I would actually say it might be a tiny bit better than the Chicken Wine, if you like something a little bit sweeter.
02:44It does taste almost identical.
02:46It's very light.
02:49It doesn't feel too strong, although it obviously is with that 12.5% alcohol content.
02:57It will go down very easy, so bear that in mind.
03:00But I think it has a slightly sweeter taste than what the Chicken Wine has.
03:06Very, very slight, though, because this is almost identical to Chicken Wine.
03:11I think that this is an excellent, affordable jupe from Aldi that I will be repurchasing.
03:17I think the bottled version will be something nice to pick up now and again.
03:22But for summer, the boxed wine is definitely something you need to be packing along to your camp and trips, picnics, barbecues, all of that.
03:31This is an absolute win.
