I tried to make the viral M&S sweet sandwich and here are the results.

00:00My name's Holly Alden and I'm a food and drink writer for National World and I am going to try
00:04and make the viral M&S strawberry and cream sandwich myself. The first ingredient is a
00:10loaf of brioche bread. I also bought squirty cream for the sandwich but that was the wrong cream to
00:16buy. I needed whipped so that was a mistake on my part. Then for the main star of the sandwich
00:21it is the strawberries. Now M&S used red diamond strawberries but because I wanted to make this
00:27easy and affordable I just picked up the first pack of strawberries I found in the shop.
00:32So let's get to making it. The first thing I did was place two slices of the brioche bread
00:38on a plate. Then I got out a chopping board as I was ready to slice up the strawberries
00:44and you can see here I'm slicing them up into little tiny slices removing the first half
00:52and the bottom half of the strawberry. Then I added the squirty cream on top of the bread. Again
00:59this is the wrong cream but I smoothed it out and I was eager to see how it would taste and if it would
01:06be any different from the cream that M&S use. And then I carefully placed the sliced strawberries
01:13which I had put to one side on top of the cream. Finally I put the two slices together, smushed all
01:20the ingredients inside into a big mix before cutting the bread into two halves.
01:27Now it's time to take a look at what I've made and take a bite of course. And I will say I was
01:32fairly impressed with the result but after taking a bite I found that my suspicions on the cream were
01:38right. It was definitely the wrong cream and it didn't really make much difference to the taste
01:43whereas I think the M&S version it would have a massive impact. But overall it was great and easy to make.
