00:07Troops were sent to the streets of Los Angeles on Sunday, June 8,
00:10to help control a third day of protests against President Donald Trump's immigration policies.
00:16Troops were placed near federal government buildings as police and protesters clashed
00:20in different demonstrations over immigration raids in the city.
00:24Police declared some of the rallies to be unlawful assemblies,
00:27saying protesters threw concrete, bottles, and other objects at police.
00:32Groups of protesters holding signs against U.S. immigration authorities
00:36gathered in several areas across Los Angeles.
00:40California Governor Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, said he asked the Trump administration
00:44to withdraw its order, sending 2,000 troops in Los Angeles County.
00:49Newsom adds, quote,
00:50These are the acts of a dictator, not a president.
00:54The White House disagrees with Newsom, saying that, quote,
00:57Everyone saw the chaos, violence, and lawlessness.
