00:05for resisting a federal crackdown. This after Trump border czar Tom Homan threatened on Sunday
00:11to arrest anyone who obstructed the deployment of National Guard troops to Los Angeles.
00:16Trump says, quote, I would do it if I were Tom. I think it's great. Gavin likes the publicity,
00:21but I think it would be a great thing. Newsom responded and said, quote, I don't care if you're
00:26a Democrat or a Republican. This is a line we cannot cross as a nation. This is an unmistakable
00:32step toward authoritarianism. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bays opposed the clampdown telling MSNBC,
00:38we are a city of immigrants. U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem counters,
00:44they are not a city of immigrants, they are a city of criminals. The U.S. military meantime will
00:49temporarily deploy about 700 Marines to the state until more National Guard troops can arrive.
00:55This marks another escalation in Trump's response to four days of street protests over his aggressive
01:00immigration policies.
