00:00Los Angeles would be burning right now.
00:02It would have been bad.
00:03Last night they had total control.
00:06If we didn't have the military in there, the National Guard,
00:08and then we also sent in some Marines, we had some bad people.
00:12And these are paid insurrectionists.
00:14These are paid troublemakers.
00:15They're agitators.
00:17They're paid.
00:18Did you see the guy throwing the rocks at the police guards as they're wegged by?
00:23And crushing their windows and endangering our police?
00:27We're not going to let that happen yet.
00:28Hey, Mr. President, when is the last time you spoke with Governor Newsom?
00:34A day ago.
00:36Called him up to tell him he's got to do a better job.
00:39He's doing a bad job.
00:41Causing a lot of death and a lot of potential death.
00:44If we didn't send out the National Guard,
00:47and last time we gave him a little additional help,
00:50you would have Los Angeles would be burning right now.
00:53Los Angeles would be not a lot different than what you saw take place in.
00:58California and Los Angeles just a little while ago.
01:02And, you know, you've got to remember, we have the Olympics coming.
01:06And we don't want people looking at Los Angeles like it was, like it would have been.
01:10It would have been bad.
01:11Last night they had total control.
01:13If we didn't have the military in there, the National Guard,
01:16and then we also sent in some Marines.
01:18We had some bad people.
01:19We had people, they look in your face and they spit right in your face.
01:23They're animals.
01:24And these are paid insurrectionists.
01:26These are paid troublemakers.
01:27They're agitators.
01:29They're paid.
01:31Do you think somebody walks up to a curb and starts hammering pieces out,
01:35has all the equipment necessary,
01:37and starts handing it out to people to use as a weapon?
01:41These are paid insurrectionists or agitators or troublemakers.
01:46You can call it whatever you want.
01:48And we ended it.
01:49And we have in custody some very bad people.
01:52Some very bad people.
01:54Mr. President.
01:55Did you see the guy throwing the rocks at the police cars as they're went by?
01:59And crushing their windows and endangering our police?
02:03We're not going to let that happen.
02:05Pardon me.
02:05Mr. President, on those Marines,
02:07Governor Newsom has described them as political pawns.
02:10I'm curious for your reaction to that and what you see as the Marines' role
02:13and what are their rules of engagement?
02:14All I want is safety.
02:16I just want a safe area.
02:18We have Los Angeles was under siege until we got there.
02:22The police were unable to handle it.
02:24You can speak to the chief.
02:25He said it on television three nights ago.
02:27He said, this is more than we can handle.
02:30They said that.
02:32And the L.A. police, I know a lot of the police in L.A.,
02:35they're great people.
02:36But they're given instructions not to do this, not to do that.
02:40But in this case, they were trying their best.
02:43They were not able to handle it.
02:44It was out of control.
02:46When we got there, and you have to remember, I've been here before.
02:50And I went right by every rule.
02:54And I waited for governors to say, send in the National Guard.
02:57They wouldn't do it.
02:58They wouldn't do it.
02:59And they just wouldn't do it.
03:00It kept going on and on.
03:02Got worse and worse.
03:03And in Minneapolis, that city was burning down seven days.
03:08And I said, I don't care.
03:09The governor, who's a governor that just happened to be running for vice president,
03:13the total, you talk about an incompetent governor.
03:17He's an incompetent person.
03:18That he was picked.
03:20Well, I was actually very happy he was picked for other reasons.
03:22But this guy wouldn't call the National Guard.
03:27And we ultimately just sent in the National Guard.
03:29We stopped it.
03:30But that was after seven days.
03:32And I said to myself, if that stuff happens again, we've got to make faster decisions because they don't want to do it.
03:38But the radical left, it's usually radical left, and it's usually governors that are Democrat.
03:45And they don't want to call them in.
03:47They don't want to save lives.
03:49They don't want to save property.
03:50They don't want to call them in.
03:51I don't know what it is.
03:53We sent them in not early.
03:54We sent them in late, as far as I'm concerned.
03:57But big problems, as you know, three nights ago, big problems were ensuing.
04:01If we didn't send in the National Guard quickly, right now, Los Angeles would be burning to the ground.
04:08The Marines is, a lot of people think, an escalatory step, though.
04:11These are guys who fight wars.
04:12Are you at all concerned that things could get out of hand with Marines in American city?
04:15When I see people throwing concrete into cars, when I see people, the kind of people that I saw on your network,
04:23doing danger to the police and to the military and to the National Guard, no, it's okay.
04:29You know, you start running out of people.
04:31When you have 2,000 people from a National Guard standpoint, we have a very big military.
04:36But the National Guard, they needed a little extra help, and we sent them a little help.
04:42And we did a great job last night.
04:44We had, well, a lot of cars go up in smoke and flame and a lot of bad scenes.
04:50But it was pretty minor by comparison.
04:53This morning, it's very calm.
04:55We'll see what happens later.
04:57But they know if they go there, they're not going to get anywhere because we have the National Guard.
05:01But we backed it up with a number of Marines, yeah.
