00:01So the riders on the line the race will be 30 minutes and two laps 40 racers on the gate
00:06It's time to go
00:09Gates down
00:15The long uphill climb begins and it is timeless now the fast qualifier and the early race leader
00:20Well, we've seen him being out front the latter first couple motos and has some issues
00:25So let's see if he can clean that up after last week and having food poison
00:28Hopefully he's a hundred percent hill because he's gonna have to be that number three Hayden Deegan's in third place already
00:33And the multi-time supercross and world motocross champion from france tom vial on the 16 is second
00:40So two of deegan's primary rivals in front of him
00:43Yeah, and if you go back to last year tom had one of his best rods here at this racetrack
00:46So this track being the way it is with all these ruts if he can hold hayden deegan off
00:51Which is saying a lot. Um, I think he might have a chance to do this because this track's gonna set up well for him
00:56And deegan also getting some pressure from nate thrasher time masterpool and the 107 the danish rider
01:04Mikkel harrop and harrop's moving up
01:07Seem with the yellow fenders challenging deegan on the outside
01:10Yeah, well they saw what happened in that 450 class everybody wants some action of the the champ and
01:14Hayden deegan's in a tough spot because he's got tom vial with him
01:17And he's got this guy trying to get around him and they know they got to make haywater sunshine early in this race
01:22Now headed to the other side of thunder valley and it's usually where the fans come to life on the hillsides
01:34And a little bit of home cooking for
01:37Hymus the race leader at least in the feel of it honda actually sent a bike and he got to go back home to idaho where he is from
01:43To ride familiar terrain a little bit of elevation there normally he rides in florida
01:47So he's prepared today
01:48And looking good as he pulls away deegan now challenging the 16 of vial well
01:53Whatever home cooking chance is getting he needs to eat it all the time because the boys out here riding
01:58Looking good early part in this moto
02:01And how about harrop back there at fourth on the triumph the english motorcycle only the second year
02:07That brand has raced in this championship and he's running up front now deegan
02:11Power run around the outside for second place. Yeah, that was a nice line by hayden
02:16He actually started losing her front end but was able to make it work
02:18They cleaned up the track a little bit so he was able to stay on the back of the bike
02:22Get that power down on that yamaha. We know how fast that bike is
02:29There you see the gap between hymus and deegan and these two are rivals in every sense of the word
02:34Not just on the track but wars of words off the track
02:38And they might hook it up here today. Yeah as quickly as uh chance was able to get away
02:43It was hayden uh reeled that gap in really quick
02:46So was that about chase uh chance relaxing or hay deegan just really start pushing the gap pushing that pace early in this race
02:57So hymus who has been fast all year second time in three races he's had the fast qualifier award
03:04The problem is he's not been able to be strong all the way to the end of the motos
03:08Had food poisoning last week couldn't even compete in the second race of the afternoon in the heat of california
03:14And I checked him with the team. He's feeling much better this time will what are you hearing?
03:19I was talking to his dad chris heimers a very important part of his program there for chance
03:24Asking about last weekend what the reset's like and he said look
03:27I just pulled him aside and said let's focus weekend to weekend what happened happened you can't help it
03:32You got sick is how let's presume that kind of dnf for the season is out of the way
03:37You just got to get the win he won his first career moto win here this weekend
03:42So he said you got that to lean on you got good vibes here. Just go and get it done
03:47Well well if it is going to truly be a week-to-week thing you could not ask for a better race for chance
03:52Hymus to get back to form and rounds where you've done well in the past
03:56You know he got that moto win here last year you get off the plane the air smells a little better the sun's a little brighter a little
04:02Pep in your step and that's what we've seen him from him so far today
04:06He was your fastest qualifier. He gets the hole shot. He's leading laps and now he just has to finish and reproduce
04:13What he did a year ago, and he looks fantastic so far doing exactly that
04:17Yeah, look at this. Thanks JT. James. He's pulling away from deacon
04:21Yeah, and that was all set up that bigger sweeper section because he was able to hit that
04:25Tabletop as we were watching the the 450 class with jet lawrence and man
04:29You have to commit and he committed and he had so much momentum going around that whole corner
04:34I think he probably pulled a second on those guys right there then back to this battle for four
04:38So harrap on that triumph running well, but under pressure now from time masterpool
04:43Ryder out of texas in green and he's been fast on this track in the past as well
04:48Yeah, I was gonna say that you know time master pull on the mitch peyton kowasaki to green bike number 26
04:53When you think about him, he feels the same way as chance when he comes to this racetrack
04:57He's had some great rods and great finishes. So just this jt said the air smells better. The eggs this morning was great
05:03I'm gonna go out here and race, but he's got to get around the number 107 in front of on the triumph
05:10Masterpool was also sick last week and he said he's not quite a hundred percent
05:14But he doesn't think it's going to affect him in the races because to your point
05:18He feels so good on this track. He knows this is an opportunity for a great result
05:23And masterpool needs it. He had been a privateer racer for years finally got the call from this high budget team last year
05:30And he is trying to show with the good equipment what he can do they're on around the 26
05:35Yeah, it's amazing what a win or good finishes when you show up at the track. That's an instant
05:40Um antibiotic at that point. So these guys are definitely getting that nice little line right there by time masterpool
05:47As for her riding well the danish rider racing in america for the first time will
05:52That's right doing all of this for the first time jason
05:55I was having a chat with him earlier before qualifying today
05:58So what's the big difference here for you riding in the u.s
06:01So well first of all the intensity up front in the early laps well
06:05He's getting that done. He said the second thing is we don't get any time on these tracks
06:09He's like this is my first visit to all of these venues all of these tracks said in mxgp back home in europe
06:15He's like we have an hour just on a saturday to try and figure it out work out the lines
06:19He's like here not so much
06:21So he is learning every single one of these tracks as he goes through the motocross season this year in 2025
06:26On that filling right there for jelly swole on the triumph guys
06:30Thanks bill was that deacon as we go back to second place. Yeah, he was off track wasn't he?
06:34Yeah, except that line if that inside line in the corner before it looks like he's starting to get a hook on
06:38And i'm assuming that hayden probably hooked it and went off no harm no foul
06:43But yeah, you know for these guys that's coming over to europe
06:45It's hard to learn a track when you got these young
06:49Kids out here just going wide open just letting it happen. So
06:52here's where hayden
06:54Starting to close in on chance hymus this goes in here. Let's see what happens here. Oh nice save
07:00Front end goes over that berm you can see the berm kind of collapsed on him and his front wheel popped out
07:04Losing the front wheel but nice save by the number one and he's still right there. Yeah, explain that when you say that berm
07:10Collapses. Yeah, so basically the top of the berm these guys as you can see these ruts as these 40 riders come by
07:17It starts falling apart
07:18So it's like having an ice cream cone and the thing that the head of it falls off
07:22And that's what happens on top of these both these bumps his ice cream cone the ice cream fell off the cone for him
07:27Yeah, yeah going off the track when you're trying to catch a leader probably about as big a bummer
07:30That's losing the top scoop
07:33On the ice cream. So he has to reset and go back after hymus who is now two and a half seconds up
07:38Oh, tom vial the frenchman from third a mistake and harrop's going to get him. Yeah, man
07:43That's not what tom wanted. He was just sitting behind hayden a couple seconds behind him. So
07:47Definitely a tough break and so far this year has been really tough on his 16. He came in this after winning the
07:53uh, The uh, 250 supercross title in the last race dramatic fat
07:58um, you know
08:00Dramatically now he comes in his championships expecting to be a championship contender and just having some dnfs and another fall
08:06So we'll see if time masterpool can try to get around him as well
08:10And that's another thing harrop has mentioned just relentless
08:12How deep the field is in this 250 class vial and orange learning that a mistake harrop gets him and masterpool is right there
08:20To attack as well on the 26. Yeah, when a rider goes down when you're in time masterpool
08:25Position you want to try to get him while he's getting back up trying to get his goggles and get his um
08:30Everything back going you want to attack him right there because tom's not that focused on moving forward right now
08:35He's just remember what happened great opportunity to get around there's time masterpool tried to get him around and he might
08:42Masterpool will be on the inside for the next turn and makes the pass. Yeah, that's good move by him
08:47I mean, he knew he needed to get around him now
08:50And masterpool's breakout ride came at this track two years ago. He's in the big class the 450s
08:55Again was on a low budget didn't have the private have a private tier team didn't have the full factory motorcycle
09:01Went five and four in the two motos
09:04That really reannounced that he could be a player
09:06He'd always been fast as an amateur then last year got the upgrade to the factory kawasaki team here in the 250s
09:13And he wants that podium fourth right now with harrop in third. Yeah, absolutely
09:17It's good to see tie back and after a couple years of some injuries, you know
09:21You go back even before that. I mean this guy was you know, maybe not as you know decorators
09:26Hey, deacon coming up as amateur
09:27But he was another kid that's supposed to come up and be a threat for winning his titles
09:31But injuries and sideline sideline this path and so to have another chance on this pro circuit kawasaki
09:36It's really cool to see him. He's making do with it
09:39And his parents come from the world of alpine skiing and even snowboarding
09:45His mom a champion his dad a champion olympic level coach and they have taught their young athlete tie masterpool
09:52And maybe no surprise. He excels here at elevation attacking for third
09:57Yeah, he's been trying to get around
10:01For a couple laps now. He might have the position
10:04Almost james good job by harrop on the 107 to hold them off. Yeah, I know you're probably wondering why didn't ty just stay on the gas
10:11But those ruts are a lot deeper. You can't see it from his camera angle
10:14But those ruts are really deep for those guys to have hesitation on there. I like ties line again on that inside
10:20Suggestion lines, right? Yeah, those track markers
10:24flirting with it at least
10:26And masterful not quite able to make the move
10:32Upfront no change in the gap two and a half second lead
10:36high mess over deegan
10:40Gap just stabilizing it up front
10:42I think hayden deegan as we've been watching him he usually gets to the 15-minute mark and then really starts to put the hammer on
10:49See if that's the same thing that happens today
10:51Yeah, I see the countdown clock top left of the screen of the 30 minutes
10:55And then it'll be two laps to go when that expires
10:58but hymus
10:59Now deegan can't even see him on some of the longer sections of the track
11:03Yeah, I'm wondering did hayden make a mistake because they're from the lap time. He's only about two and a half seconds behind
11:09Chance hymus, but it's a lot farther now
11:11So chance hymus, can he be the one to break hayden deegan's win streak?
11:18He's four and oh this season hymus looking to end that stay with us
11:22Yeah, I'm sorry
11:32Yeah
11:34Yeah
11:39Yeah
11:41Yeah
11:43Yeah
11:45Yeah
14:27And while we're away at break, there was a change in third.
14:31Going to see Deegan coming through here in second place.
14:34Time Masterpool was able to wrestle the third place position away from Mikkel Harrop.
14:39And we'll show you how he made that pass.
14:42It's aggressive move, by the way, from Masterpool to get it done.
14:44And you'll see the gap, though, as Masterpool, he made that pass, but he's way back as far
14:55as the lead duo.
14:56Almost 15 seconds between this rider, the third place runner, Masterpool.
15:01So it is down to Deegan and Hymas, it appears for the race win.
15:04But that battle for the podium, well, it means a lot, too.
15:07And that's why Masterpool made that aggressive pass.
15:10And we'll show it to you here.
15:12Masterpool and Harrop.
15:13Yeah, this is that new part, the new section right off the start.
15:21You've got to watch Ty.
15:22He's going outside.
15:23Mikkel goes on the outside.
15:25Ty just squares that thing up, goes straight to the exit of it.
15:28Nice move by him.
15:29And you would think that's aggressive, but it's the only way he can make that pass.
15:33It was a nice move by him.
15:34It's like he wanted to go to inside.
15:36No, I'm going over there, square it up, hit him on the break so he can't cut back underneath you.
15:40And that was the pass at third place.
15:43So Masterpool out of Texas in the third.
15:46Harrop and Michael Moseman battling fourth and fifth.
15:49Halfway through this moto, 15 minutes down, 15 to go.
15:53Reminder that Monster Energy is available at Maverick.
15:56And Masterpool's got to keep pushing because that Harrop-Moseman-VL battle behind him,
16:03they don't want to let him off the hook.
16:05Yeah, it's a tough position to be where Ty is because he doesn't have anybody to chase.
16:09He's so far behind the two in front of him, and the guys behind him are chasing him.
16:14So it's hard to just really try to push forward.
16:17As you can tell right there, he's looking back.
16:19So it's going to be tough for him to try to hold these guys off as this race goes on
16:23because they've got the rabbit in front of him.
16:26Yeah.
16:26And the rider that's doing the chasing is Michael Moseman.
16:29That was his home race last weekend in Northern California.
16:32He got to fourth just like this and crashed.
16:36He said he wanted that podium in front of the home track fans and was going for it.
16:40He's back in the position right now.
16:42Here's Moseman.
16:42Yeah, and you go back to the injury this guy had.
16:46I mean, he was basically retiring.
16:48This guy broke his neck.
16:49Now he's back out here competing at the highest level with all these guys.
16:52So really cool to see Michael out here.
16:54And as you mentioned, last weekend he was in that top four.
16:56Goes down late in the race.
16:58Let's see if he can hold on to it.
17:00And another rider on the move in green.
17:02Garrett Marchbanks, man.
17:04He does not get the starts, but boy, can he push late in the motos.
17:07And he is challenging the owl.
17:09Yeah, I feel like when you're in a position where Garrett, you're not usually getting the stars.
17:13Once you get that momentum, that ball rolling, and you're getting past,
17:15and you start just getting that confidence.
17:18And when you catch these guys, you're just wondering, you're like, why are you in my way?
17:20So Garrett might be able to get around on these two.
17:23And his teammates right in front of him is still not too far ahead.
17:26Maybe he can get on that third place.
17:28Marchbanks veteran out of Utah.
17:31Well, look, they've closed right to Moseman.
17:34Moseman in the blue gear.
17:35Three-rider fight for fourth.
17:37Yeah, Moseman comes up short.
17:40Oh, something's going on with him.
17:42Yeah, a couple of mistakes.
17:43Didn't clear the jump.
17:45Vial and Marchbanks and Moore are going by.
17:48Not sure what happened to Moseman.
17:50Meanwhile, Marchbanks not asking questions.
17:52He's just making passes.
17:53He's around Vial.
17:55He's like, thanks.
17:55I don't know what's going on, Michael, but I saw the special over there.
17:58It was the Bogo special.
17:59I'm getting two for one right here.
18:01He's got both of them.
18:02He's see his teammate a few seconds in front of him.
18:04Let's see if I can track him down.
18:05So how about this?
18:08Marchbanks up to fourth, Will.
18:10It's been such an impressive start to the season.
18:12His best start on a 250 so far, Jason.
18:16And talking to him earlier, I got to speak to Brock Tickle, his new trainer, since about
18:21sort of middle to end of February of this year as well.
18:24And the two of them just seem to be making an incredible team.
18:27I asked Garrett, you know, what was the secret sauce at the start of this season?
18:31And he just pointed it over to Brock.
18:32And Brock said, I'm just working with him to be the best version of himself.
18:36I'm not trying to get him to be this guy.
18:38I'm not trying to get him to be that guy.
18:39I'm just looking at what he's doing.
18:41And Garrett said, yeah, it's true.
18:42All these things have kind of taken me by surprise.
18:44Things that I didn't know I had room for improvement on.
18:47I'm finding out that I am.
18:48And the more we see the results coming, the more that gives me confidence.
18:51And the two are just, yeah, marching forward here.
18:54And just a great start to the motocross season for me.
18:56Yeah, thanks, Will.
18:57And Brock Tickle, a former racer, used to race for this team.
19:00Won a Supercross title with him.
19:01So obviously his racing experience is working to help Marchbanks.
19:06And working his way forward is Deegan.
19:10Ten minutes and two laps to go.
19:13And he is catching the leader.
19:15Let's have a check-in with the riders.
19:16We're in the fly racing gear.
19:18And that includes the race leader, Hymas.
19:21Dylan Schwartz running well in eighth on the Toyota Redlands, the Barak's Yamaha.
19:27Ryder DeFrancisco is 16th.
19:29Casey Cochran, Parker Ross also in the field.
19:32Deegan making a charge here for the lead, Will.
19:35And, James, I'd like to know what your take on this is.
19:38During the break there, I had a quick chat with his dad, Ryan Dean.
19:40He said, look, what are you seeing about where Hayden is right now?
19:43And he said he's just pushing too hard.
19:45He said this track doesn't really allow.
19:47He's asking too much out of the bike.
19:49Oh, as he makes a mistake there.
19:50He said he's asking too much out of the bike.
19:52That's where these mistakes are coming from.
19:54He said he has the fitness.
19:56So let Hymas come back to him.
19:58He said, basically, he's got to take it down a notch.
20:01I don't know what your thoughts are on that, James.
20:02Yeah, I mean, I agree with Ryan.
20:04And I think what Hayden's been able to do all year so far is when he gets to 15 minutes,
20:09he starts climbing his way up.
20:11So in theory, you know Chance knows that.
20:14So at some point, if I'm Hayden Deegan, I feel like these guys are really mental.
20:18Chance is probably going to start thinking about me when that 15-minute mark comes through.
20:22So Brian is probably telling him, you know, thinking in his head, wants to tell his son,
20:26hey, just be patient.
20:27Hayden Deegan, that is.
20:28Be patient because this race is going to come back to you.
20:30And as many of the mistakes that we saw Hayden make when we've been watching him,
20:34he's still closing that gap back on Chance Hymas.
20:36And I think that's all set up to how these previous races have been going at that 15-minute mark.
20:41Yeah, James, you mentioned the riders know each other and the confidence that that leads to.
20:46Look, Hymas is way back in the point standings already after the bad race last week when he was ill.
20:51But beyond that, what does this one individual race mean between these two and their rivalry?
20:57Oh, it would be huge for that number 10.
20:59And if he's somehow able to hold Hayden Deegan off, then you start bringing Chance back into, you know,
21:04moto wins and race wins.
21:07But if Hayden Deegan is able to just get around him and be able to pull away, then, yeah, Chance rode great.
21:11He's been fast, but he didn't win.
21:14And I think that really – and Hayden knows that.
21:16So I think that's why you're probably starting to see Hayden make these mistakes,
21:20because he knows how good Chance Hymas is.
21:21And the last thing you want to do is give a guy who has just as much talent as you any confidence,
21:27because we know that's going to be the huge difference for that number 10 on RCH Honda.
21:31All on the line right now.
21:32Bottom box, see the 11 of Levi Kitchen.
21:36He was third in the race in California last weekend, but a bad start.
21:40He's been very fast on this track in the past, but now outside the top 10.
21:44Kitchen is trying to catch Joe Shimoda.
21:46That's Chance Hymas' Honda teammate.
21:48Shimoda has been second in every race this year, and now he's running 10th.
21:53Yeah, I've been watching the lap times with Joe Shimoda, and he's been stuck behind that.
21:58A bad start, and we can see how hard it is to pass on this racetrack.
22:01So a tough position.
22:03But from Chance Hymas, I'm a mechanic.
22:05I want to try to relay to him that Hayden's making a mistake.
22:08So what you need to do, you're obviously – he's not going to get tired, Hayden, that is.
22:12So if you can keep pushing him and keep that gap, eventually these mistakes that Hayden
22:16making might end up costing him, and Chance is putting him in position to make those, JT.
22:22Yeah, you know, you can see Hayden's definitely riding the women here, but for good reason.
22:26I think he knows right now if he can get to the back of Hymas, he can lean on his fitness.
22:31He has proven to be the fittest rider in this class.
22:33If he can up the pressure, you know, I think momentum and sentiment work both directions.
22:37They can work in a positive way for Deegan to catch up.
22:40And if Hymas feels Deegan closing, they can work negatively for Hymas.
22:43So these laps right here are super critical before we get down to the last two where Hymas can go full sprint.
22:49Oh, yeah.
22:49It's getting down to clutch time now between Hymas and his rival, Hayden Deegan.
22:54We're going to take one more break and then bring you the finish.
22:57Live motocross on NBC.
22:58We're going to take one more break and then we're going to take one more break and then we're going to take one more break.
23:28We're going to take one more break.
25:58Yeah, that bike's overheating because they're at altitude, so the bikes are pulling a lot of horsepowers, working a lot harder than normal at sea level, and Hayden's working hard trying to get close to Chance Hyman.
26:08So you saw his mechanics, they shift on the downhills, and what he's trying to do is to get him to shift up so that bike can relax a little bit.
26:15So Hayden's got a good pace. If he cleans it up, he'll be all right. But at the same time, Chance has some great lines around this side of the racetrack as well.
26:23And you see it was that last time around, lap 11, where Deegan took 1.8 seconds out of the gap that Hymas has. Now, I mentioned at the beginning of this race the war of words these two have had off the track.
26:34Deegan is not afraid to talk some trash. He had an Instagram post last year. He's at a party. They brought a cake over that said Hymas is cooked. And then Hymas the next week was the fast qualifier and said, I'm here to cook.
26:48Then he crashed. And then Medeegan won. He said, I'm just here looking to cook. These two do not like each other off the track. Let's make that perfectly clear. Oh, the mechanic, Brent Duffy, said stay off the clutch. Save the bike.
27:01Yeah, no, again, yeah, you can hear his bike. It sounds something's up. And then Hayden's starting to lay up a little bit.
27:10Yeah. Bike's losing power or something. Some double downshift at the top of that hill. So James, explain how they use the clutch here. This is not just like a manual transmission car. They were using the clutch all the way around the track and why they're going to tell him to not do that as much now.
27:31Yeah, well, his bike was smoking and used the clutch. I mean, just like anything else, I mean, you can wear a clutch out. And, you know, if you ever had a stick shift in a car, the thing starts slipping.
27:42You hear the bike and it really starts putting a lot of torque on the bike, which just has a lot of drag. And being at altitude with all this dirt, having Hayden wide open, it just makes the bike really hot.
27:53And as these things continue to heat up, things start happening. And I think that's what you're starting to see with Hayden's bike. Mechanics saying, get off the clutch. Let this bike relieve. She needs a little break, honey. She needs a little break.
28:05So is Deegan in conservation mode here. It sure looks that way.
28:08Yeah, absolutely. I mean, his bike sounds like it's lost some power at this point. So I don't think he's trying to, at this point, he is trying to save it, but it doesn't sound right as well.
28:19And the clock there, about two minutes and then two more laps left. So we're looking at two, three, maybe four laps left. JT.
28:28Well, just thinking about, you know, what the elevation does to these motorcycles. They're trying to find every ounce of power these teams are.
28:34And you see him not even jumping the jumps now. Either he's losing power, he's trying to save it or both.
28:39But these teams, they'll throw everything at it. They'll change the fuel maps. They'll add compression to the engine if they have anything left available.
28:46But a standard engine setup, they have thousands of hours of endurance to know exactly where the pressure points are.
28:51What they don't have is the same amount of research done at elevation with the most extreme engine setup possible.
28:59So that's where a guy like Hayden Deegan, a high-rever who's asking the most possible out of the engine, that's where you start to run into trouble.
29:05You start to ask questions that they don't have every answer to.
29:09So for Hayden, I think it's just bring it home. He still has a 45-second gap to Garrett Marchbank.
29:14We'll see you another day.
29:15Yeah, that's a great point, JT.
29:17And for the fans out there, I mean, it's kind of like you drive your car and you start shifting.
29:22And if you run that thing in a low gear, eventually you start smelling the engine.
29:27And that's exactly what these bikes are doing.
29:29And Hayden Deegan's really revving his bike up.
29:32And you start smelling that engine.
29:33And that's what he's trying to do to keep this thing alive.
29:35The good news is he's got a giant lead over the third-place rider who's now Garrett Marchbanks.
29:40He has climbed from 13th to third.
29:42As for Deegan and this team, you get an inside look behind the scenes at that squad.
29:48Go to the at Yamaha Motor USA YouTube channel beyond the gate.
29:51And a really cool story where they even talk to the riders and show you what they do during the week between races.
29:56As for Deegan, look, the win streak is going to be over here.
29:59But, James, I've got to imagine he's just trying to minimize the damage.
30:03If this bike doesn't get to the finish line, this entire championship will change.
30:06Yeah, I mean, I think he's trying to conserve it.
30:10But, again, it doesn't sound right.
30:12The way he's jumping, you know, as a rider, if you're just trying to conserve it,
30:15he would just put it in taller gear, continue to ride.
30:18But he's riding almost in fear that it's not going to make it.
30:21So this is a little bit different than just conserving it.
30:24As you can see him going up the hill, the bike has no power at this point.
30:27These riders he's getting around are lap riders.
30:30He's still firmly in the number two spot.
30:31When you see Deegan not clearing the big jumps, every motocross rider's biggest fear is that the engine is going to give out as he's taking off.
30:39So is that Deegan getting worried about that?
30:42Is that a sign that he's afraid that thing could let go?
30:44Oh, absolutely, 100%.
30:45You'll see these guys, when they start worrying about their bike, though, even if they jump the jump,
30:50they'll jump front end high in case the thing does shut off.
30:53At least you want that front end up.
30:54And you can see Hayden Deegan on these bigger jumps.
30:57He's not jumping him.
30:58So, to me, that's more of a sign that he's not conservative.
31:01He's more worried about the thing shutting off on him.
31:03And, you know, look, you've got three laps, two laps after this.
31:07Yes, not clearing the jump.
31:09Even the lap riders here are able to make up a little bit of ground.
31:12So he is afraid.
31:13Yeah, if the engine locks up on the takeoff, going over the handlebars.
31:18Harrop, check back in with him.
31:20Great at the beginning of the race.
31:21He is in sixth.
31:23Drew Adams, a rookie, right behind him in seventh.
31:28Then Tom Vial up ahead in fifth.
31:29Been a great ride, though, for the rider on the triumph, but he's not done.
31:33Yeah, this is a great ride for him.
31:35He's been battling this whole race.
31:37And it's crazy to watch how big a gap these guys get between, you know, where Hayden Deegan.
31:42I mean, they're almost a minute ahead.
31:44Chance Himes is 52 seconds ahead of third place.
31:46You know, when you look at the lap times, yeah, they're going pretty quickly.
31:50But I just think that track position off the beginning part of the race, that starts, super important.
31:56As we're watching Levi Kitchen and Joe Shimoda making his way up for eighth and ninth.
32:02Yeah, these are two of the front runners on the podium last week.
32:05Kitchen on the green, 47 to 30 of Shimoda.
32:08A Honda racer out of Japan.
32:10Top three last week.
32:12Bad starts this week.
32:14They're eighth and ninth.
32:15Shimoda on the 30.
32:16Can he make up ground it with two laps to go?
32:21Yeah, maybe he's able to get around Levi.
32:25It's going to be pretty hard to catch about 10 seconds down on Drew Adams.
32:29Great ride for the rookie as well.
32:31Seventh place.
32:33Yeah, Adams in seventh.
32:34A youngster out of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
32:37Meanwhile, these two teammates, Masterpol and Marchbanks, have been battling the entire race.
32:43Marchbanks was able to get him for third.
32:44But Masterpol not giving up.
32:46He wants that podium.
32:49Yeah, there's something about when your teammate comes around.
32:51You always find some energy to fight him.
32:54I always felt like my old teammate, Tim Ferry, he raced me harder than anybody else on the racetrack.
32:59Ho it up, Red Dog.
33:00So, you know, Todd Masterpol definitely wants to go back out there.
33:04Garrett over here.
33:05Be the top pro circuit.
33:06And the key to motocross is everyone races twice in a day.
33:10These 250 riders will return in an hour for their second race, and you combine the two results together.
33:15So they all know if you finish third in the first moto and then win the second one, you might have a chance to be the day's overall winner.
33:22So this is critical right now.
33:23And then we are going to show you the second 450 class race in a moment when this concludes.
33:29So stay with us for the second 450 race of the day.
33:32They already raced earlier.
33:34It's nonstop action at one of these pro motocross races.
33:37But right now, Garrett Marchbanks out at Utah on the 36th.
33:42Trying to bring it home.
33:43Yeah, and it looks like Drew Adams was able to get around Tom Bial for fifth place.
33:47So you got three pro circuit, MonsterNG pro circuit bikes in the top five right there.
33:52Really good.
33:53Yeah, that is third, fourth, fifth for the teammates.
33:56Obviously got those machines running well at altitude.
33:59Deegan has lost.
34:00It's now a 34-second gap between he and Hymas.
34:04Marchbanks and Masterpol are still pushing.
34:07We know that Deegan is not with the bike problems.
34:10They took a gap that was about 50 seconds down to about 16 now.
34:15Yeah, they're coming.
34:17I mean, they're getting chunks of time out of them.
34:20It's almost 15 seconds they gained on the last lap.
34:22So do the math, which I'm not that good at it.
34:26They're going to get a little closer to what they are right now.
34:28Let's just say that.
34:30How about Chance Hymas?
34:31A week ago, food poisoning.
34:34He threw up after the first moto where he was leading and then finished 13th.
34:38Didn't even race moto two.
34:40What a recovery as he's into the last lap to try to win here in Colorado.
34:45Yeah, I mean, I'm really impressed with Chance because this race could have got away from him.
34:50And, yeah, you could sit here and say, hey, Deegan has some bike problems.
34:53But if I'm Chance Hymas, I'm like, I'll put him in that position to heat that bike up.
34:57Try to run with old Chance.
34:58This is a chance you're going to take.
34:59The bike might not make it.
35:01So hopefully this is just a start of many more wins.
35:05The championship is going to be a long shot unless we get some help.
35:08But, man, love this kid and what he's doing.
35:11And he had to watch his teammate, Jet Lawrence, go out.
35:13Showed him the way.
35:15Yep, his teammate, Jet Lawrence, will be back in a moment for 450 Moto 2, which will come up right after this.
35:20But it's looking good for the Honda team right now.
35:22Two races in the books today.
35:24And it looks like they might have two wins.
35:26The young rider out of Idaho, 20 years old.
35:28And, again, they let him go back to his home in Idaho this week to ride dirt and elevation a little more like this.
35:36Actually gave his dad the bike last week in California at the race.
35:39He drove it back home.
35:41Chance met him there.
35:43And a good chance to reconnect with the roots.
35:45And clearly that has paid off.
35:47Yeah, something about them Idaho potatoes, maybe some home fed.
35:51Can I say he's cooking?
35:53He's cooking.
35:53He's cooking right now.
35:55Cooking.
35:55So the win streak for Hayden Deegan will end.
35:59And the gap is down to just a few seconds between Deegan and the charging Kawasaki duo of March Banks and Masterpool.
36:06And he might not be able to fend them off with an ill motorcycle.
36:11And that could leave the door open for the day's overall for Hymas.
36:15Because they will be back in an hour for Moto 2.
36:19Hymas won his first career Moto at this track a year ago.
36:23He's going to win again.
36:24Chance Hymas takes the first Moto.
36:27And here is that battle.
36:29Deegan.
36:31Does he have enough left?
36:33Yeah, he's right there, Garrett.
36:36It's going to be close.
36:40Hayden obviously picked up the pace because they've been by three seconds.
36:43You've got to wonder.
36:44Yeah, Deegan in the mint green jersey.
36:47March Banks on the green motorcycle.
36:48Yeah, 36.
36:51Garrett might not even believe that.
36:52That's Hayden.
36:53He's probably thinking, well, no, that can't be him.
36:55Yeah, how do I pick up 45 seconds in two laps?
37:01He's trying to listen.
37:03Can he nurse it home?
37:05Last turn.
37:09Salvage job.
37:11Hayden Deegan second.
37:13March Banks third.
37:14Yeah, good ride by Hayden.
37:15You can see Garrett came across.
37:16He was upset.
37:17I don't think he believed what he was believing.
37:19Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
37:21Wh哟.
37:22All right.
