00:00We're here at Brighton Primary School today, a wonderful school with strong links to IF Cosford,
00:08great facilities and expansive grounds. A great school and their headteacher Mrs Turle has been
00:13showing us around today. First of all we ask every headteacher that we speak to the big important
00:19question, the first one, what do you love most about your school? I have to say the children
00:23and the community that we have here, it's such a warm welcoming school where the children get
00:28on with everybody and the support we get from the community, not just our parents but the wider
00:32community is amazing. Yeah we just spoke about on the video, expansive grounds, got some great
00:37facilities here, tell everyone about what you've got on offer and what the kids really love. Well
00:41we've got wonderful grounds as you say that really help our sporting facilities, we've got a swimming
00:46pool that's heated that we use in the summer so with children from year three to year six have
00:49swimming lessons every week, we have opal lunch times where children have the opportunity to make
00:55dens, we have a digging area, we have amazing climbing equipment, they're kind of on bikes,
01:00all sorts of things but I will say the den building is what children particularly love at lunchtime.
01:05Another thing that kids love apparently when they leave most is the school dinner, so tell us about
01:11those and why they're so popular. Well food is amazing, our cook who and her team absolutely make sure that
01:16the food they give to the children is what they want to eat, they really think about the different
01:21flavours and the different sorts of foods, but they're making fun. So there's all sorts of different
01:25events that we have to do with food, but also they're so wonderful with the children themselves
01:31during the lunch times that children can't really finish. And the other thing that's very important
01:35is that Posh is really good as well. Well it sounds like everyone misses them when they've gone.
01:40Now just to go and play and go over now, strong links to RAF cosplay as well, tell us about
01:45the sort of things you do with the kids, the things you have there as well, about your RAF community as well.
01:50Yes, so we have roughly 27% of children at the moment in our school that are service pupils,
01:57and we ensure that we have lots of things for them in school to ensure that it isn't a disadvantage
02:03to be a service pupil. So we have all sorts of clubs, we also think about our curriculum,
02:07and our curriculum is designed very much with our service pupil in mind. We also go to Cosford
02:13a lot and use it to help us with our curriculum because they have so many workshops there that are brilliant.
02:18Now finally, one reason to celebrate recently, a fantastic Ofsted report. We had covered this,
02:24but how delighted is everyone at the school about this and their findings?
02:27Really, really delighted. I think especially because they actually noted the work that we do with our
02:33vulnerable pupils, particularly our service pupils as well, and how we cater for them to ensure that
02:39they love coming to school, and that then means our attendance is so good. So we're really pleased.
02:45That's brilliant. Well, thanks ever so much for showing us around. A wonderful school,
02:48and I'm sure we'll get very soon if there's something like they'll come along.
02:53So then guys, a brilliant school. Now, usually one of the most hated things for people is school
02:58dinners, but it's quite the opposite here at Albrighton Primary School. Ben, what do you love most
03:03about your school dinners? I like the roast dinners. The roast dinners are good. I do like the puddings
03:08as well. Do you? I can't get the puddings. I hear you have some special occasions as well.
03:12Yes. Tell us about some of the special dinners they do. So we have the Christmas dinners. You can
03:16have like the dinner, like the Christmas dinner, or you can have like a pancake, like a Rudolph pancake,
03:21because we also have Easter. We also have Father's Day like teas and Mother's Day teas. That's brilliant,
03:29so you've got a lot going on. When you leave school, is it going to be one of the things that
03:34you miss most? Yeah, definitely. Oh, and it seems like a lot of people have been saying that. Vicki,
03:38what does that mean to you and all the people who are working in the kitchen? Oh, it's lovely.
03:41I think this is what makes our job the best is that we obviously cater for the children,
03:46and that's one of our main things. We make it fun, don't we? All around food. So with our theme days,
03:51I get the girls to dress up. They love me for that. So we do census days, fun days. So yeah, and it's all
03:58creative around the food, and what the children will eat as well. Sounds like everyone absolutely loves it. Top work.
