02:01From ABC News World Headquarters in New York, this is World News Tonight with David Muir.
02:12Good evening, and it's great to have you with us here on a very busy Tuesday night.
02:15We begin tonight with the chilling new video of the horrific attack in Boulder, Colorado.
02:19ABC News obtaining the video, the suspect targeting a small group of peaceful demonstrators
02:24gathered to raise awareness about the hostages still being held by Hamas.
02:28A warning, this video is difficult. The suspect disguising himself as a gardener,
02:32carrying in flowers. He's there on the right in an orange vest.
02:35He ignites homemade Molotov cocktails and then throws them at demonstrators.
02:39A trail of fire reaching the group, engulfing several people in flames
02:42and appearing to set himself on fire while throwing his homemade weapons.
02:46The man removing his burning shirt, still holding Molotov cocktails ready to be ignited.
02:50He brought 18 of them to the scene, according to authorities.
02:53The suspect, of course, arrested, and tonight there's news his family
02:57is now in the custody of ICE officials.
02:59Investigators searching the suspect's Colorado Springs home.
03:02Federal authorities say his wife and five children are being processed now for expedited deportation.
03:08ABC's Trevor Ault leading us off tonight from Boulder, Colorado.
03:12Tonight, horrific new video showing the moment a man in Boulder, Colorado
03:16unleashed a fiery attack on a peaceful Jewish demonstration.
03:19The suspect, seen in an orange vest, walking toward the crowd, throwing a lit Molotov cocktail,
03:27setting fire to innocent people who'd been calling attention to the hostages still being held in Gaza.
03:32Witnesses saying the suspect yelled,
03:34free Palestine, and appeared to light himself on fire.
03:38That suspect, 45-year-old Mohammed Sabri Soleiman,
03:42allegedly telling investigators he disguised himself as a gardener,
03:45even buying flowers to get as close as possible to the group.
03:49Later, seen shirtless, yelling at the crowd before being taken into custody at the scene.
03:55Water! Water, water, water.
03:57At least 12 people injured, including an 88-year-old woman who survived the Holocaust.
04:02Tonight, we've learned she's now out of the hospital recovering.
04:05She's an incredibly resilient person who is horrified.
04:10Officials say the suspect planned the attack for a year,
04:14waiting until after his daughter graduated high school last Thursday to carry it out.
04:18And tonight, ABC News has learned he appeared to record pro-terror messages just hours before.
04:25Court documents reveal Soleiman brought 18 Molotov cocktails to the park,
04:30throwing two of them into the crowd.
04:32Authorities suggest he might have had second thoughts,
04:35allegedly telling investigators he got scared and had never hurt anyone before.
04:39Officials say he showed no remorse, allegedly admitting he had to do it,
04:44he should do it, and he would not forgive himself if he did not do it.
04:48He said that he had previously tried to purchase a firearm,
04:52but resorted to the Molotov cocktails when he could not purchase a gun because he was not a legal citizen.
04:58Federal officials say Soleiman is an Egyptian national in the country illegally after overstaying his tourist visa.
05:05Tonight, his wife and five children taken into custody by ICE now being processed for expedited deportation.
05:12We're also investigating to what extent his family knew about this horrific attack.
05:16Rabbi Mark Soloway tells us six members of his congregation were injured in the attack.
05:21The entire community is shaken.
05:24We're talking literally a Jew who was targeted and burned and was lying on the ground in flames.
05:33And the image of that for our people is just something that we'll never forget,
05:38that this could happen on the streets of Boulder, Colorado in 2025.
05:42David, the suspect is being held on $10 million bond he's due back in court on Thursday,
05:47and we've learned one of the victims is still in the hospital in serious condition.
05:50Several others have been released, but many of them are looking at months of recovery for their burns.
05:56David.
05:56All right, Trevor Rall leading us off tonight.
05:58Trevor, thank you.
05:58The other breaking story, we're following severe storms hitting right now.
06:01Drivers rescued from their cars and tornado warnings.
06:04One tornado already reported near Kansas City tonight.
06:07A flash flood emergency.
06:08This is Wichita.
06:09Drivers trapped being pulled to safety by ropes there.
06:12Chief Meteorologist Ginger Zee with the forecast and the images coming in right now.
06:16Tonight, powerful storms and torrential rain inundating drivers in the heartland.
06:21A flash flood emergency in Wichita, Kansas.
06:25First responders using a boat and ropes trying to save this driver struggling against the current filled with debris.
06:31Finally, pulling a woman from the car.
06:33The Wichita Fire Department responding to more than 75 reports of submerged vehicles.
06:39This is the highest I have ever seen it.
06:42Tornado sirens sounding at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City.
06:46Our affiliate, KMBC, live on the air, forced to take shelter.
06:50We may want to think about having non-essential personnel take their tornado shelters in here right now.
06:55This ambulance apparently swerving to avoid a tree in Raytown, Missouri, going off the road.
07:01Now, this powerful system is pushing east.
07:04It is moving quickly.
07:05Let's get right to Ginger tonight to time this out.
07:07Hi, Ginger.
07:09Hi, David.
07:10Two severe thunderstorm watches just went up on the north and south side of this.
07:14Abilene is included in Texas, up to Davenport.
07:16This powerful front also has what we call training thunderstorms.
07:20That's why we saw that flash flood emergency in Wichita.
07:22They just run over the same area.
07:23You'll see that from Missouri back through Kansas and parts of Oklahoma tonight.
07:27Now, there are two other pockets of flooding, Las Vegas and Miami.
07:30Miami, remember, had big-time flooding yesterday.
07:33So this is the second day in a row.
07:34Some places could end up with more than eight inches over the two days.
07:37If we time it out, the storms will reach Chicago by early tomorrow drive time.
07:41That could make for a mess down to St. Louis.
07:43And then the smoke we put on the same map, it pulls on down through parts of Wisconsin, even Missouri, by tomorrow.
07:49And hazy skies out ahead of it here in the east, David.
07:51All right, Ginger, we'll see you first thing in the morning.
07:53And good morning, America.
07:54Thanks.
07:55Tonight, Elon Musk taking on President Trump's budget bill less than one week after leaving his official role with the Trump administration.
08:01He's now calling the spending in the president's bill disgusting.
08:04And this evening, amid the tariffs, prices rising in the U.S.
08:07Tonight, here are the items at Walmart and how much they've gone up.
08:11Mary Bruce with the higher prices and Elon Musk's harsh criticism.
08:14Tonight, just days after leaving the Trump administration, Elon Musk ripping into the bill at the heart of President Trump's agenda.
08:23I'm sorry, but I just can't stand it anymore, Musk posted on X.
08:27This massive, outrageous, pork-filled congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination.
08:33It comes just hours after Trump declared the bill a big winner.
08:36But Musk now insisting the bill will massively increase the already gigantic budget deficit to $2.5 trillion and burden American citizens with crushingly unsustainable debt.
08:49Look, the president already knows where Elon Musk stood on this bill.
08:52It doesn't change the president's opinion.
08:54This is one big, beautiful bill, and he's sticking to it.
08:57Musk, the world's richest man, now threatening Republican lawmakers who backed the bill, saying,
09:02shame on those who voted for it. You know you did wrong. You know it.
09:06Adding, in November next year, we fire all politicians who betrayed the American people.
09:12It's very disappointing. With all due respect, my friend Elon is terribly wrong about the one big, beautiful bill.
09:18The president eager to get the bill across the finish line as we see prices rising amid the trade war he launched.
09:25At Walmart, the nation's largest retailer, the cost of some toys way up.
09:30A baby-born doll that cost $34.97 in March now costs $49.97, up roughly 43 percent.
09:38Last month, an Etch-a-Sketch cost $14.97. Now it's $24.99, a nearly 67 percent increase.
09:45Walmart's CEO had sparked Trump's anger by warning the president's tariffs would lead to higher prices.
09:51Today, Walmart telling us the new price hikes are influenced by a variety of factors.
09:57And David, amid these rising prices, we've been asking the White House, but no trade deals have been finalized yet.
10:03And the administration is now trying to up the pressure, sending a letter to our trading partners,
10:07urging them to put forth their best offers by tomorrow. David.
10:11Mary Bruce at the White House. Mary, thank you.
10:13Now to Boston tonight, an explosive day in the Karen Reed murder trial and the death of her Boston police officer boyfriend.
10:18Tonight here, the defense witness who testified this could have been a dog.
10:22But then the moment during cross-examination when Karen Reed's team suddenly demanded a mistrial.
10:28And then late today, Karen Reed was asked if she'll testify.
10:31Here's Matt Guttman.
10:32At the murder retrial of Karen Reed today, the defense building its alternate theory that John O'Keefe
10:38was beaten by partygoers at this house, mauled by a dog, and left to die in a blizzard.
10:43Those wounds were inflicted as a result of a dog attack.
10:47Critical to proving these injuries to O'Keefe's arm were not caused by Reed's SUV, but by a dog.
10:53The testimony of forensic pathologist Dr. Marie Russell.
10:56Prosecutors spending most of the day trying to shred her credibility.
11:00Recently, you said teeth, and now you're saying you're not sure.
11:05No, I'm saying I believe that those marks are from teeth, but I'm not 100% certain.
11:11Pointing out no traces of dog DNA were found on O'Keefe.
11:15When a dog bites a sweater, would you expect that it would leave DNA?
11:23Yes.
11:24And it wasn't dog DNA, but plastic fragments from a car's taillight that were found embedded in O'Keefe's clothing.
11:30When a dog bites a sweater, you would not expect it would leave little fragments of taillight shards enclosed, would you?
11:36Correct.
11:37What followed was a fiery fight over dog DNA.
11:40He intentionally brought up DNA.
11:43The defense moves strongly, vigorously for a mistrial with prejudice.
11:51But the judge denying the defense's motion for mistrial and out her way out of court tonight, Karen Reed, was asked if she might testify.
11:58I'm ambivalent, and by ambivalent, I could get on board with either one.
12:02I'd feel strongly either way.
12:04And David, today's testimony was a pivotal moment in this trial.
12:07But a reminder, the defense does not have to prove its alternate theory about a dog bite.
12:12All it has to do is show enough reasonable doubt in the minds of the jurors about the prosecution's case.
12:17All right, Matt Guttman, thank you.
12:19Meantime, in the Sean Combs trial tonight, what was revealed about that video showing Sean Combs kicking and dragging his then-girlfriend?
12:25Tonight here, the hotel security guard testifying about the paper bag filled with cash to keep the video secret.
12:32Here's Aaron Katursky.
12:34Tonight, the extraordinary testimony about the 2016 hotel surveillance footage of Sean Combs attacking then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura
12:41and the lengths Combs went to keep it from being seen.
12:44Today, the jury heard the music mogul paid a hotel security guard $100,000 cash for the video and to secure his silence.
12:52Eddie Garcia testified he saw Combs with a brown paper bag, then putting stacks of $10,000 at a time through a money counter.
12:59Garcia recalled Combs asking if he wanted to count the bills.
13:02I said I trusted the machine.
13:04Garcia taking the cash and telling Combs he had handed over the only copy.
13:08He also told the jury he was made to sign a nondisclosure agreement.
13:12Garcia said he first saw the video after arriving for a shift at the hotel.
13:17I was told there was a domestic dispute.
13:19He said Combs' personal assistant, Christina Coram, kept calling, trying to get the tape, eventually putting Combs on the phone.
13:26He stated that I sounded like a good guy, that I sounded like I wanted a help, that something like this could ruin him.
13:32Garcia said Combs promised he would take care of me.
13:34When arrangements were made and Garcia arrived with a thumb drive containing the video, he said Combs greeted him, Eddie, my angel.
13:43Combs denies all charges tomorrow.
13:45David, the jury here could begin hearing from another alleged victim, a woman testifying under the pseudonym Jane.
13:52David.
13:52Eric Kuturski again tonight.
13:54Thanks, Aaron.
13:54Two Chinese nationals are accused of smuggling a dangerous fungus into the U.S.
13:58that experts say could be a potential terror weapon targeting agriculture.
14:02This is a microscopic view of that fungus known to cause billions of dollars in damage to crops, including wheat, barley and rice worldwide every year.
14:10If consumed by humans, it can cause liver damage and birth defects.
14:14One of the suspects allegedly caught with the fungus hidden in his luggage at the Detroit airport.
14:18The DOJ claims he lied, saying that he was just there to visit his girlfriend, a Chinese visiting research fellow at the University of Michigan, but later confessed to having it.
14:27We'll stay on this.
14:28We do have new reporting tonight in the search for those two remaining fugitives after 10 inmates broke out of a New Orleans jail.
14:34Tonight, a new video surfacing on social media, appearing to show one of those inmates who is still on the run, now asking President Trump for help.
14:43Here's Faith Abube.
14:45Tonight, the eye-opening plea from a fugitive asking for help from President Trump and rappers.
14:51Authorities in New Orleans now studying several videos posted online, appearing to show one of the two remaining escapees in that brazen jailbreak more than two weeks ago.
15:01My name is Antoine Massey.
15:03People that have been through the system that know it's corrupt.
15:06Lil Wayne, Donald Trump, please, I'm asking for help.
15:11In the video, Massey repeatedly denying the charges against him.
15:15Court records obtained by ABC News showing he pleaded guilty to a domestic battery charge in St. Tammany Parish back in March,
15:22before being transferred to that Orleans Parish jail on multiple other charges.
15:26Law enforcement sources telling ABC News Massey has a history of attempting escape as recently as 2019.
15:35And tonight, the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office saying, quote,
15:38if the individual depicted in the video is indeed Antoine Massey,
15:41we strongly urge him to come forward and turn himself in to the proper authorities.
15:46And David, tonight, the AP says authorities raided that home where they believe that video was filmed, but Massey was not there.
15:54David.
15:54Faith Abube on this case again tonight.
15:56Faith, thank you.
15:57When we come back here 20 years later, there's news tonight and the disappearance of Madeline McCann.
16:02Here in the U.S. tonight, the deadly tomato recall will go down the states affected.
16:06And tonight, hear the headlines now involving the real housewife's husband,
16:10who's now been sentenced to seven years in prison in a moment.
16:12Tonight, nearly 20 years later, news in the Madeline McCann case.
16:18Authorities in Portugal tonight renewing their search in her disappearance, of course.
16:22She was three years old when she vanished while on vacation with her family back in 2007.
16:26A suspect behind bars in Germany for a different crime could be released in just months,
16:31which is adding to the urgency in this new search.
16:34Authorities are now using ground-penetrating radar to search parts of southern Portugal.
16:38Meantime, back here in the U.S. tonight,
16:40the FDA recalling potentially deadly tomatoes sold in three states.
16:44The tomatoes possibly contaminated with salmonella sold in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
16:50The FDA says the tomatoes were packaged under the name H&C Farms label.
16:54No deaths or illnesses have been reported.
16:56When we come back tonight, will there soon be warnings on Doritos and M&Ms and what this is about,
17:02and the real housewife's husband now being sent to prison tonight?
17:05To the index of other news, a new bill in Texas could require warning labels on popular foods sold in that state,
17:12including Doritos, Skittles, and M&Ms.
17:14The bill, which could have a nationwide impact, says foods containing certain ingredients,
17:18will be required to have labels saying, quote,
17:21not recommended for human consumption by other countries, including some food dyes, is the reason why.
17:26It's backed by HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
17:29Food industry groups tonight urging the governor, Greg Abbott, to veto the bill.
17:32Tonight, Real Housewives husband Tom Girardi has been sentenced to seven years in prison.
17:37The estranged husband of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erica Jane
17:40was convicted of stealing millions of dollars from his clients.
17:44The judge also ordering him to pay more than $2 million in restitution to the victims.
17:49When we come back here tonight, forget the pros.
17:51You're not going to believe who just qualified for the U.S. Open.
17:55Could it be your dentist?
17:56ABC World News Tonight with David Muir.
18:01Sponsored by Vivgard Hytrulo and Vivgard.
18:06Finally tonight, America's Strong.
18:07It comes once a year, a chance for everyday Americans to try to make the U.S. Open.
18:12Tonight, our America's Strong begins right here with the dream of a little boy and a golf club,
18:18dreaming one day if he could make the U.S. Open.
18:20And just listen to this.
18:23He's now a 17-year-old high school junior, and he just qualified to play in the U.S. Open.
18:29Mason Howell from Thomasville, Georgia.
18:31At just 17, competing against the pros, he first picked up a golf club at age three
18:36and has played in tournaments since he was six.
18:38It's that once-a-year chance, and he qualified to play in the U.S. Open next week,
18:43hugging his parents right after the 18th hole when he did it.
18:47You know, I'd be lying if I didn't say I was nervous, but just hugging my mom and my dad,
18:52walking off 18 green is just a feeling that I don't know if I'll feel again,
18:56but that was one of the greatest moments of my life.
18:58And right here tonight...
18:59Hey, David.
19:00Mason on that moment.
19:02I think my message to everyone out there is just to keep working hard
19:05and that dreams really do come true.
19:07And he's not the only one.
19:09From McCordsville, Indiana, a dentist who always dreamed of being a pro golfer, too.
19:14How about that shot?
19:15Oh, Matt Vogt qualifying for the U.S. Open.
19:19I knew I could do this.
19:23I feel like I'm going to wake up from a dream here in a little while,
19:27and this isn't going to be real, but it's real, and I'm so excited.
19:30And right here tonight...
19:31Hey, David.
19:31...Dr. Vogt on his way home.
19:33If I look like I'm running on two hours of sleep, that's because I am.
19:36Tonight, that dentist and a dream and his message.
19:39You can accomplish awesome things while still having a career, having a family.
19:45It's never too late to follow your dreams.
19:48So true.
19:49We're rooting for both of you.
19:51Good night.
