00:00Harrison Phillips just compared J.J. McCarthy to which former NFL MVP?

00:05Yeah, you should be excited.

00:10The Minnesota Vikings decided to go with J.J. McCarthy.

00:13Was it a good decision or a bad one?

00:15We really won't know until we actually see things on the field.

00:18But based on the process, it was a really good decision to go with McCarthy.

00:23And he's proving them right by everything that we've been able to see and gather

00:27throughout the course of, well, the entire offseason.

00:31But OTAs is when you can really start to get a sense of it.

00:34Mandatory minicamp is coming up next week, and you'll get to see even more with more media access.

00:39One of the interesting things about McCarthy here, though, let's just be honest with ourselves.

00:45McCarthy seems to be the guy.

00:49And not just the fact that he's going to be the starting quarterback.

00:52How he presents himself, how he communicates, and his presence.

00:58A lot of people talk about aura.

01:00But there's this confidence about him that really has that star aura.

01:04And that's a really good thing for the Minnesota Vikings.

01:06Harrison Phillips commented on that on Monday when the media did have access to Vikings OTAs.

01:13You know what's so far as to compare him to Josh Allen?

01:17Yes, Josh Allen.

01:19Listen to this quote.

01:20He's really stepped up in the personal power role, where just in the locker room, I'm constantly

01:24seeing him go out to new guys, to new players, introduced, dapping each other up, sitting

01:29on the couch, and just having conversation.

01:31Where last year, it was off to rehab, off to meetings.

01:34He understands that we have to build a family here.

01:37And you can't have unique results without unique relationships that we believe in.

01:41And then, man, he's got some confidence.

01:43He reminds me of Josh Allen when I was with him in Buffalo, coming into his own and understanding

01:48the power that he has to lead this organization.

01:50And he's doing a fantastic job of that.

01:53That's a powerful statement.

01:55Now, Phillips is in a unique position where he was a third-round pick in the same draft

02:00that the Bills took Josh Allen at seventh overall.

02:02So he saw the entirety of Josh Allen's rise.

02:06He saw what he was like coming in a rookie minicamp.

02:09He saw what he was like year one, year two, and then going into year three, when he really

02:13made that big jump.

02:15That's a big deal for the Minnesota Vikings.

02:18You compare J.J.

02:19McCarthy to a NFL MVP.

02:24That is special.

02:27That is noteworthy.

02:29That is important.

02:31And something that you can really hang your hat on as the Minnesota Vikings continue to

02:34grow within the context of what J.J.

02:37McCarthy is and will be.

02:39This is huge for the Minnesota Vikings.

02:42Having that belief from your teammates is huge because you need to have buy-in.

02:47The Vikings have that.

02:49Phillips just told you so.

02:50Justin Jefferson had a bunch of other great comments earlier in the day as well.
