00:40This is Medal of Honor Above and Beyond by the developers Respawn Entertainment

00:45and it was released on the 15th of November 2021.

00:48About the game, this is my second time playing this through.

00:51This was one of my first games when I bought it on my quest too many moons ago

00:56and I remember enjoying it back then.

00:58But I was also new to VR so I wanted to see how this holds up today.

01:02So you are playing some war hero who is called away on special missions to Europe during World War 2 period.

01:08You will be thrusted into and experience some of the most historic events of World War 2.

01:13Levels and size.

01:14There's a lot going on in this game.

01:16Manning guns on a bomber.

01:18To parachuting out of a plane in enemy territory.

01:21Driving tanks.

01:22To gunning down Germans as you ride across country as a passenger on a bike.

01:27Skiing downhill.

01:29Skiing avoiding an avalanche.

01:31To derailing trains and being on one working your way up the carriages.

01:35Taking out every person you see.

01:37To going undercover and into the lion's den.

01:40You play over so many locations that you feel like you have travelled the world.

01:45It roughly gives you anywhere between 7 to 11 hours.

01:49Depending on your play style and if you skip the cutscenes.

01:52Enemies and bosses.

01:54Planes, trains, tanks, ships, submarines, trucks, bikes, men.

02:00This game has it all in there one way or another.

02:04And you will certainly experience the thrill of the fights.

02:07The fighting was decent at normal difficulty level.

02:10But you can always adjust the difficulty level if you find it too easy or even too hard.

02:15Weapons.

02:16All the weapons of World War 2.

02:18I'm so glad they didn't deviate from that and made space guns or anything.

02:22You have your pistols, SMGs, rifles, shotguns and rocket launchers and grenades.

02:29And whatever weapons are on board any of these vehicles you might be inside of.

02:33Mechanics.

02:34The story rolls out really well.

02:36It's all perfectly executed.

02:38No stuttering or crashing.

02:39I had no major issues.

02:41The only thing I question is the ladder climbing.

02:44You have to grab hold of the ladder or rails to pull yourself up.

02:48And then it kind of just cuts to you being on top.

02:51It's not a big deal but it can sometimes disorientate you.

02:54The gameplay is also great.

02:56It all looks how it's supposed to.

02:58Enemies shoot back how they are meant to.

03:01Everything worked just how it should have.

03:03Controls.

03:04If you are familiar with shooter games then you will have no issues here.

03:08It's all very quick and easy to pick up.

03:10Even if you are new to VR you will learn the controls in no time.

03:14Game menus.

03:15Though the look of menus isn't super pretty.

03:17They are decent enough and offer campaign mode.

03:20Multiplayer though this is no longer available.

03:22Survival mode where you get a choice of six locations.

03:25A gallery with 19 videos to watch.

03:28And then options which offer you options to choose type of body.

03:32Skin tone.

03:33Hands.

03:34Voice.

03:35Set difficulty.

03:36And choose if you wish to see the enemy strength by displaying a series of stars above their heads.

03:41One being easy.

03:42Five being hard.

03:44Then there's gameplay accessibility.

03:46VR combat.

03:47Audio.

03:48And video menus.

03:49Which all have further options.

03:51My thoughts.

03:52So does this game still stand up?

03:55Absolutely it does.

03:56Don't be thrown off by the bitter views on the meta store.

04:00This is still a great game.

04:01It's actually a lot better than many of the games that are being released today.

04:05It mixes combat very well with story by the way of a lot of cutscenes that you are part of.

04:10And I really like that.

04:11There was a multiplayer option for a while.

04:14But it was removed in December 2023.

04:16I think this is what some people are bitter about.

04:19I imagine because not many people played it.

04:22But for me it's okay.

04:23Because I already have my go to's for online multiplayer shooters.

04:26And the campaign in this game is rock solid.

04:29I had a blast replaying this through again.

04:32I think it starts off a little easier for the first hour.

04:35Whilst letting you get used to the controls.

04:37But it soon ramps up.

04:38I really do like that the game takes you through all types of scenarios.

04:42From land to air.

04:44On board a train and a plane.

04:45To in the sea.

04:46Now whilst it is a really great game to play.

04:49And worth the price tag.

04:50If you see it at a 30% or more sale.

04:52Then absolutely nab it at once.

04:55So overall I mark Medal of Honor above and beyond.
