Manchester United will still pursue a move for Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo after it was revealed Bruno Fernandes had rejected a lucrative move to Al-Hilal in the summer transfer window.
The United captain was offered the chance to triple his wages in Saudi Arabia, in a deal that would have earned him roughly £200 million over a three-year period. It was understood Al-Hilal were also prepared to offer United a £100 million transfer fee, though the club were always reluctant to sell their best player.

00:00Bruno Fernandes has rejected the opportunity to join Al-Halal in the summer transfer window
00:06after their lucrative offer for the Manchester United captain.
00:10Bruno Fernandes was offered the opportunity to triple his annual earnings in Saudi Arabia
00:16while United would have earned a fee in the region of £100 million for his signature
00:20but it's understood that the Portuguese playmaker wants to remain at Old Trafford.
00:25He wants to be part of their rebuild under Ruben Amarim and bring the glory days back to Old Trafford.
00:30Fernandes was never going to make a decision based just on the finances, on the money.
00:34He already earns a lot at Manchester United anyway
00:37but he wanted to make a decision that was best for his family.
00:40Fernandes has opted to remain in Manchester
00:43and like we said he will lead United for the coming season,
00:48hopefully for the coming years as well
00:49and he is very determined as ever to be part of something good again at Old Trafford.
00:54Of course after their worst ever Premier League finish
00:56and the fact that United missed out on Champions League qualification
00:59it's understood that the Portuguese playmaker did give serious consideration to a possible summer exit
01:05but he has now decided that he will remain in Manchester
01:08for the benefit of himself and the benefit of his family who are already settled in the area.
01:13In terms of United then, well it's only good news for Ruben Amarim.
01:16He's kept his captain and it means United can go into the summer
01:20with a clearer sort of sales pitch to those new arrivals.
01:23Of course Mateus Cunha, a deal has already been agreed for the Wolves playmaker
01:26and Manchester United are also interested in a move for Brian Mbwemo of Brentford.
01:31It's understood that the Brentford playmaker has decided he would prefer to join United
01:36over the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle this summer
01:40and United are still interested in a move for Mbwemo regardless of what was going to happen with Bruno Fernandes.
01:45So next season it could be Fernandes, Cunha and Mbwemo in United shirts.
01:50Ruben Amarim wants to improve the attacking quality of his side.
01:54He'd like to have players who have proven in the Premier League.
01:56He wants to improve the athleticism and overall fitness of his first team squad.
02:01Mbwemo will be one of those players alongside Cunha who has already done it in the English top flight
02:05and who can go on to even better things at Manchester United.
02:09Also a very good fit for the tactical system that Amarim's wanting to implement.
02:14I know there's lots of criticism for maybe how stubborn he was in his first months in charge at United
02:19that he didn't want to alter his style of play.
02:21That could come to fruition next season with United having a clearer identity,
02:26fewer matches to play and hopefully better results on the pitch.
02:29Not that he can get much worse results than they've had over the last few months anyway.
02:34So the headline news is Bruno Fernandes wants to stay at Manchester United.
02:38Brian Mbwemo wants to join him as well.
02:41It's going to be a very exciting few months at Manchester United.
02:44It's evidence that even in their darkest days on the pitch,
02:47they are still in an enormous pull and attraction for so many players.
02:51And Ruben Amarim, love him or hate him,
02:54he's got a vision that lots of players can buy into.
02:56So watch his space.
02:58Fernandes set to stay and Mbwemo hopes to join him at Old Trafford.
