Manchester United have reached a basic agreement to sign Bryan Mbuemo from Brentford in the summer transfer window. It is understood United are happy to pay a £60 million base fee for the forward, with add-ons set to take the overall package towards roughly £65m.

Brentford have used the transfer of Matheus Cunha as a benchmark for Mbeumo and believe he should be valued at least as highly as the Wolves star, who has joined United for £62.5m. The London club initially set a £65m valuation for Mbeumo and made it clear he was not for sale unless a side paid the bulk of that fee upfront.

United remain confident they will wrap up a deal for the 25-year-old soon and have him in place when they begin their pre-season schedule early next month. Right now, the only thing left to do is finalise the payment structure of the £60m and determine achievable add-ons that both clubs are happy with. Mbeumo will then be permitted to undergo a medical and complete his media duties as a new signing.

00:00Manchester United have reached a basic agreement for the signing of Brian Mbwemo in the summer transfer window.
00:08The Brentford forward is set to become United's second signing of the summer after United agreed to pay a fee of £60m up front for the Brentford forward.
00:19All that remains to be done now is for the structure of the deal and the add-ons to be finalised.
00:25Brentford valued the forward at £65m and it's understood that United are prepared to sanction a package in that region.
00:33Like we said £60m up front with a further £5m in achievable add-ons, the compromise between the two clubs.
00:41Once that's done and once United have actually secured the payment structure,
00:44so for example they're paying for Mateus Cunha over three different summers,
00:48they might try and do the same for Mbwemo to just take that initial cost down from a financial point of view.
00:55They can spread it over a few years.
00:57Once that is all done, United will have permission to give Mbwemo his medical.
01:03They can then conduct media interviews, get him posing in the United shirt and, hopefully, have him signed in time for pre-season next month.
01:12United are due to reconvene at Carrington from the 7th of July.
01:17They then face Leeds in Sweden on the 19th of July before they play the Premier League Summer Series in the United States,
01:24games against West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton.
01:27And then a final, Old Trafford friendly against Fiorentina before United kickstart the season proper against Arsenal the following weekend.
01:35So, Mateus Cunha is signed.
01:37Brian Mbwemo expected to join him next.
01:40He's always wanted to move to Manchester United.
01:44He's been, you know, a keen advocate for the project.
01:48He wants to be part of what Ruben Amorim is doing.
01:51And despite strong interest from Tottenham Hotspur, Mbwemo has never had his head turned.
01:56And Amorim, well, not only do they want attackers this summer, he wanted players who are proven in the Premier League.
02:02He wants to improve the overall fitness and athleticism of his first-team squad with players that know they can do it in the English top flight.
02:10Cunha and Mbwemo scored 35 goals between them in the Premier League last season.
02:15United minds just 44.
02:17Cunha is through the door and Mbwemo will be joining him soon as well.
02:21That's the latest transfer news from Manchester United.
