Manchester United have submitted an improved bid for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo as they look to seal their second signing of the summer transfer window.

It is understood United have made an offer in excess of £60 million after they saw an initial bid worth up to £55 million rejected by the London club earlier in the month. United's first offer for Mbeumo was worth an upfront fee of £45 million plus a further £10 million in add-ons, with the new offer also believed to involve a larger upfront fee.

Brentford value Mbeumo at roughly £65 million and could be willing to compromise on the final price now that the improve offer is closer to the figure they wanted. The two clubs have been in negotiations over a deal for many weeks, before they stepped up again over the weekend. Mbeumo has already indicated he would like to move to Old Trafford this summer, with United the favourites to sign him despite continued interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

00:01Manchester United have submitted a second bid to sign Brian Mbwemo in the summer transfer window.
00:07United have been in talks with Brentford for several weeks now, ever since their initial bid was rejected earlier in the month.
00:14United's first offer for Mbwemo was £45m plus a further £10m in potential add-ons, which valued it at around £55m.
00:24And now the revised bid is believed to be somewhere in the region of £60m, which would include a higher upfront fee for the West London club.
00:35Ruben Amarim has made it his priority to add extra attacking intent to his first-team squad this summer.
00:42Mbwemo had a standout season with Brentford. Of course, he scored 20 goals in the Premier League last season.
00:47United only managed 44 themselves.
00:50Matthias Cunha has been signed from Wolves. His deal does not affect the interest whatsoever in the French playmaker.
00:57He has not had his head turned either by Tottenham Hotspur, who have expressed their own interest in signing him.
01:03Of course, they've appointed Brentford manager Thomas Frank as their new head coach.
01:08And they've got Champions League football, so could offer more money.
01:11But Mbwemo is believed to have already basically given his word of a move to Manchester United.
01:16He wants to be part of the project. He wants to relish that challenge of getting United back to the top.
01:22And yeah, hopefully now just a matter of time before that deal is completed.
01:25Like we said, I think Brentford valued the player at around £65m.
01:30They were using the £62.5m paid for Cunha as a sort of benchmark for the deal.
01:35So if United bid is somewhere in the region of that, you'd expect there to be a compromise reached at some stage between the two clubs.
01:43Most of that will probably come down now to the structure of a deal.
01:45How United will actually pay for him, how many installments can they do it just to lower that initial cost of themselves this summer
01:51and keep as much money as possible for other parts of their rebuild.
01:55So the headline news, United have submitted a second bid for Brian Mbwemo.
02:00And the hope is, well there's confidence for Manchester United that they will get a deal done in time for pre-season.
