00:00Hi, I'm Holly Alden, a food and drink writer for National World, and today I'm going to be taste testing three brand new menu additions from Greggs.
00:09Now, Greggs has kindly sent me three brand new products to try, and I am super, super excited.
00:15I'm a huge fan of Greggs. I love a sausage roll. I love their coffees. In fact, I pretty much love everything they introduce.
00:23So when I found out that they were launching some brand new items, I was so eager to give them a try.
00:28Greggs has kindly sent me a savoury treat to try, a sweet treat, and an iced coffee.
00:35Now, you probably all know how much I love an iced coffee, especially at this time of year when the sun's shining and you want to cool down a little bit.
00:43So yeah, that is what I'm going to be trying today. I'm going to go into a little bit more detail as we approach each item and give it a taste and give my honest opinion on what I think.
00:53So, first on the list, we have the red pepper, feta, and spinach bake.
01:00Now, I love a bake from Greggs. I love a chicken bake. I love a steak bake. I love all the bakes, all the limited edition ones.
01:07I've never found a bake I don't like. However, I chose to review this one in particular because I was a little unsure if I would.
01:16Now, feta cheese, yes. Big yes from me. Love it. Red pepper and spinach, not so much.
01:23But you never know. It could end up being really nice. So let's take a look at it.
01:26And here it is. It has a lovely crumbly pastry. It looks kind of spiced on the top.
01:33But obviously, we are most excited about what's inside and how it tastes. So let's take a bite.
01:41No, that is actually really nice. I wouldn't say it's the best thing I've ever had from Greggs in regards to their bakes, but it is still delicious.
01:50You can certainly taste that red pepper. That is the most prominent flavour out of the three included in the bake.
01:56I think for fans of, you know, kind of spicier flavours and vegetables, this will be a good bake for you.
02:06But it's definitely something I enjoy. Not something I would purchase again, but I will definitely eat the whole bake, enjoy it.
02:14But not something that will be super high on my list.
02:16I think that is though due to my personal taste. I love meat.
02:19That's why chicken bake, steak bake, sausage rolls are probably my favourite things that Greggs does.
02:26But I definitely think that one is worth a try.
02:28And if you're into more of a vegetable kind of based bake, then that might be the one for you.
02:34Next up, we have the lemon meringue muffin.
02:38Now, I love a sweet treat.
02:40And I'm more inclined to go towards something fruity than something more chocolate based.
02:44So, lemon meringue, absolutely lovely in my opinion.
02:49Haven't tried this particular muffin yet, but that flavour is something I really like.
02:54And again, this time of year, you want a lighter fruit and lemon, whether it be lemon sweets, whether it be lemon drinks.
03:01It's just something I reach for at this time of year.
03:04So, let's have a look at the lemon meringue muffin.
03:08You can see it there looking absolutely gorgeous.
03:11I love the icing on the top.
03:13I think that's going to be very sweet.
03:15It's definitely something that is going to be more of a treat for me, not something I would buy all the time.
03:20But I haven't even tasted it yet.
03:22So, let's give it a go.
03:25That is even nicer than expected.
03:28The lemon flavour is really prominent, really lovely.
03:32Very refreshing, even though it is almost overpoweringly sweet.
03:37I think that I will feel probably a bit sick when I finish the muffin.
03:41It's just one of those things you have to treat yourself to now and again.
03:45But yeah, absolutely delicious.
03:46And now for the menu item that I was most excited about.
03:51It's a new iced coffee.
03:52I love iced coffee, as I said.
03:54And I'm always looking forward to trying new flavours.
03:57So, this one is the iced caramelised biscuit latte.
04:01Now, doesn't that just sound absolutely delicious?
04:04I love a biscuit.
04:06So, making a caramelised biscuit latte is something that sounds really, really delicious.
04:12I have noticed that you can see it's kind of separated.
04:16You've got your darker colour on the bottom.
04:19You've got your what I assume the milk here.
04:21And then it looks like syrup on the bottom.
04:23I could be wrong.
04:24That's just what I'm guessing.
04:25So, I'm going to stir it all up just to see what it tastes like as a whole.
04:28And yeah, I'm really, really excited.
04:31Okay, I've given it a stir.
04:33So, let's have a sip.
04:36That is lovely.
04:37It's not as sweet as I was actually expecting it to be.
04:40It's actually really strong.
04:41So, if you like a strong coffee with a hint of sweetness, then this is a great choice.
04:46As I say, I expected a little bit more flavour from it.
04:49But that's not to say that I don't like it because I do.
04:53And again, I will have this again.
04:56I wouldn't say it's my favourite coffee flavour that Greggs has ever released.
05:02But I would definitely purchase it again, especially on a hot day when you want a cold coffee with a little bit of sweetness.
