British police charged a 53-year-old man on May 29 after a car ploughed into a crowd of Liverpool soccer fans during a victory parade earlier this week, injuring dozens.

Paul Doyle, from the West Derby area of Liverpool, was charged with seven offences including dangerous driving and causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

00:00The Crown Prosecution Service has today authorised Merseyside Police to charge Paul Doyle aged 53
00:18from West Derby Liverpool with offences of dangerous driving, causing grievous bodily
00:24harm with intent, wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and attempting
00:30to cause grievous bodily harm with intent. This is following a complex and ongoing investigation
00:36into an incident in Water Street, Liverpool on Monday the 26th of May 2025. The defendant
00:44will appear before Liverpool Magistrates Court on Friday the 30th of May 2025. The investigation
00:52is at an early stage. Prosecutors and police are continuing to work at pace to review a
00:59huge volume of evidence. This includes multiple pieces of video footage and numerous witness
01:05statements. It is important to ensure that every victim gets the justice they deserve.
01:12The charges will be kept under review as the investigation progresses.
01:16A total of 79 people were injured. We continue to be in contact with our officers and staff
01:25and seven people remain in hospital, receiving the expert care of our NHS colleagues. Doyle
01:33has been remanded into custody. I would encourage anyone who has not yet contacted the police who
