00:00Hello and welcome to your week ahead brought to you by the Met Affairs.
00:04Well it's a messy end to May, there will be some well needed rainfall but some drier interludes
00:10for those who are off on their half term. Now let's have a look at the bigger picture because
00:16we've got a fairly active jet stream and that's just going to be throwing areas of low pressure
00:21our way as we go through the week but in between these areas there will be some ridges of high
00:26pressure just helping to settle things down especially midweek. Now let's take a look at
00:32the closer detail then so we've had this area of low pressure through the rest of Bank Holiday Monday
00:38that will clear its way through and then replaced by another area of low pressure through Tuesday.
00:45So it's going to be a bright and dry start for many of us on Tuesday morning there will be some showers
00:50still across Scotland but then it's going to be turning wet and windy from the south west with
00:56heavy spells of rain pushing into much of Wales, south west England, northern England and then
01:01eventually into the Midlands and the south east perhaps drying up a little bit across Northern
01:07Ireland. For Scotland though plenty of sunny spells there will be a few showers around and it's still
01:12going to be quite breezy here as well otherwise in terms of temperatures ranging from 16 to highs of
01:1917 degrees but probably feeling quite unpleasant underneath these longer spells of rain. Now the rain will be
01:26heaviest over the hills especially for the Moors, Exmoor, Dartmoor and the South Pennines but like I say
01:31it is some well needed rainfall. Now that system clears its way through Tuesday night and once that
01:38does we'll actually see a bit of a ridge of high pressure developing by midweek so if you have got any
01:44outdoor plans probably the better day of the week ahead. So a bit of a cloudy start in places we've got some
01:51outbreaks of rain but otherwise for most it's a case of sunny spells and further showers developing.
01:57Not everywhere we'll see those showers and we'll actually see temperatures rising up to 20 possibly
02:0321 degrees across the south and west. So now as we go through Wednesday and into Thursday that ridge clears
02:12and then we have another area of low pressure moving in we have got a squeeze in the isobars as well
02:18indicating some stronger winds. So turning more unsettled on Thursday with further spells of rain
02:24this time more shifted towards the north across Northern Ireland into Scotland where it could turn
02:30quite heavy at times. Elsewhere often cloudy but there will be some patchy drizzle just on and off
02:37otherwise a windy day but actually feeling quite muggy we'll see highs of up to 21 or 22.
02:44So then as we go into Friday well a bit of a messy picture on Friday we've got this area of low
02:50pressure towards the north and this cold front and then another area of low pressure coming in from
02:56the south. So like I said a bit of a messy picture out there we'll see showers or longer spells of rain
03:02across Scotland and then further outbreaks of rain across Northern Ireland and pushing into northern parts
03:08of England but across the south really that's where we hold on to the driest weather this week
03:13and we'll actually see temperatures climbing so in the sunshine feeling warmer here we could see highs
03:19of 23 degrees. So as we go through the weekend a bit of a mixed picture but make sure to hit subscribe
03:27so you don't miss any details of that and I'll see you very soon. Bye bye.
