Runner Chrisia Mae Tajarros of Region 8 or Eastern Visayas claimed the first gold medal of the 2025 Palarong Pambansa at the Ferdinand E. Marcos Memorial Stadium track oval on Monday, May 26.
An incoming Grade 9 student at the Tanauan National High School in Leyte, Tajarros led from start to finish and clocked 10:18.6 in the 3000m secondary girls race to upgrade her second place finish last year in Cebu.
Mary Mae Magbanua of Region 13 or CARAGA finished a distant second with a time of 10:48.4, while Nathalie Faye Miguel of Region 1 placed third with her 10:50.4.
