Calabarzon tanker Reinielle Jan Miko Trinidad has long set his sights on winning a Palarong Pambansa gold medal, in individual events in particular. The Calayan Educational Foundation Incorporated student representing Lucena fell short every time he touched the wall. That changed in his third and final Palaro stint here in Laoag, Ilocos Norte, where he not only claimed the gold but also posted a new record in the secondary boys 50m butterfly event. Trinidad clocked 25.23 seconds at the Ferdinand E. Marcos Memorial Stadium (FEMMS) pool to top the previous fastest by .02 which was 25.25 set by Albert Jose Amaro Jr. last year in Cebu.
