UE's Placido comes back to rule walk race

Representing Rizal High School at the Palarong Pambansa last year in Cebu, Sep Blessee Placido ruled the secondary girls 2000m walk race, or so she thought. For some reason, the results were reversed and Placido's gold medal was downgraded to silver. This year in Laoag, Placido returned with a vengeance, making sure her gold medal would not be taken away. On top of that, the now incoming Grade 12 student at the University of the East established a new 2000m walk race record of 10:15.15 on May 27, 2025 at the Ferdinand E. Marcos Memorial Stadium. She bested the previous and first record of 10:44.44 set by Laurize Jeanne Wangkay in 2018.
