00:00Good morning, happy Thursday. Here is your market open update.
00:07Well, Canada's main stock index futures treaded water Thursday as traders stayed on the sidelines
00:11muted, eyeing a high-stakes U.S. vote on Trump's headline grabbing tax overhaul.
00:16The TSX index was down 0.5% as of 6.05 Eastern Time. The venture drops 2%. Futures of the Dow
00:22are down and the Nasdaq is up this morning. Checking in on the headlines, Finance Minister
00:27Francois-Philippe Champagne says G7 finance leaders stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Ukraine
00:33and they will send a message that G7 countries will hold Russia to account.
00:38And Wall Street took a hit Wednesday as spiking treasury yields lit up fears over America's
00:43swelling debt load. With bonds screaming trouble, investors hit the sell button across the board.
00:48Switching to currency futures with the loony steady at 72 cents U.S. on the greenback,
00:52up against the euro and Bitcoin explodes with a 6,300-point gain.
00:56And tailing off with commodity futures where copper breaks off 0.5%, gold tips down, WTI falls
01:03to $60 U.S. a barrel and natural gas also decreases by over 1%.
