00:00Good morning, here is your market update for Monday, May 26.

00:07Canadian equity futures edged higher Monday after U.S. President Donald Trump extended trade talks

00:11with the EU, offering markets a brief reprieve from trade policy uncertainty.

00:15June futures on the S&P TSX index were up 0.10% as to 625 Eastern Time.

00:21The venture grabs on to a 1% gain, and futures of the Dow and the Nasdaq both add on over 1% this morning.

00:26Into some headlines, retail sales rose 0.8% to $69.8 billion in March,

00:32boosted by a surge in new car purchases as Canadians move quickly ahead of expected tariff-driven price hikes.

00:38And Elon Musk's Doji team is reportedly pushing broader use of his AI chatbot Grok within the U.S. federal government,

00:44raising red flags over potential conflicts of interest and exposure of sensitive data, sources say.

00:49Over to currency futures, where the Canadian dollar is up across the board,

00:52showing a kick-up to $0.73 U.S., also on the increase against the euro, and Bitcoin grabs on to 3,000 points.

00:58And skipping into commodity futures, where copper lays down a 0.5%, gold also deletes over 0.5%,

01:04WTI stands at $61 U.S. a barrel, and natural gas leaps up another 10%.
