In a heated exchange at the White House, U.S. President Donald Trump handed South African President Cyril Ramaphosa a folder containing graphic documents and reports allegedly proving targeted killings of White farmers in South Africa. What happened next stunned onlookers — Ramaphosa’s aides were caught on camera quietly removing and hiding the documents from view, sparking outrage and suspicion. The moment, now going viral, has reignited fierce debate over land reform, racial violence, and government transparency in South Africa.

00:00These are articles over the last few days.
00:04Death of people.
00:08Death. Death. Death.
00:12Horrible death. Death.
00:16I don't know. White South Africans
00:20are fleeing. Trade matters, investment matters.
00:24So the issues that concern you as the United States
00:28and in many ways identify
00:32where shootings are happening and all that.
00:34And I want to talk about that because
00:36there is support that we can get from you
00:40as the United States to help.
00:42People need to sit down around a table
00:44and talk about that.
00:46And this is precisely what we would also
00:48like to talk about.
00:50Including, of course, trade matters,
00:52investment matters.
00:54So the issues that concern you
00:56as the United States.
00:58Those are all recent. Those are all deaths.
01:00Yeah. In many ways, I mean one
01:02should say you are a partner.
01:04Partner of South Africa
01:06and you are raising concerns
01:08and these are concerns
01:10that we are willing
01:12to talk to you about.
01:14Let me just add quickly.
01:16You know, the
01:18criminality that we are
01:20experiencing in our country needs
01:22quite a lot of technological capability.
01:26And in one of our areas in South Africa
01:30we are using you as technology
01:32which is able to in many ways identify
01:36where shootings are happening and all that.
01:38And I want to talk about that
01:40because there is support
01:42that we can get from you
01:44as the United States to help us
01:46deal with all these acts of criminality.
01:48and that is what I believe
01:50partnership is all about.
01:52And we are here as a partner
01:54so that we can
01:56help each other
01:58whenever there are challenges.
02:00So I'd like us to discuss it
02:02and of course outside of the media
02:04so that we sit down
02:06and have a really good discussion
02:08that will lead to good outcomes.
02:10Are there any other punitive measures
02:16that could be in place
02:18should you not be satisfied
02:20that South Africa is fixing
02:22some of the very bad things
02:24that you tweeted are happening?
02:26Well, there are a lot of bad things
02:28happening in many countries
02:30but this in particular
02:32has been very, very bad.
02:34And because of, you know,
02:36we're going to have the whole world watching
02:38in another short period of time
02:40because you have the G20
02:42and that's a big deal
02:43and it seems like, yeah.
02:46I mean, I want you to look good.
02:48I don't want you to look bad.
02:50Very good.
02:51But we have hundreds of people,
02:53thousands of people
02:54trying to come into our country
02:55because they feel
02:56they're going to be killed
02:57and their land
02:58is going to be confiscated.
02:59And you do have laws
03:00that were passed
03:01that gives you the right
03:02to confiscate land
03:03for no payment.
03:04You can take away land
03:05for no payment.
03:06I want to clarify that.
03:08Because we have a constitution.
03:10Our constitution guarantees
03:12and protects the sanctity
03:14of tenure of land ownership.
03:17And that constitution
03:19protects all South Africans
03:21with regards to land ownership.
03:24However, we do say
03:26because we've got to deal
03:27with the past,
03:28the government
03:30and as your government
03:31also has the right
03:32to expropriate land
03:33for public use.
03:35And you're doing that.
03:36And we've never really
03:38gotten underway with that.
03:40And we are going to be doing that.
03:42You're taking people's land away
03:44from them.
03:45We have not.
03:46And those people
03:47in many cases
03:48are being executed.
03:49They're being executed.
03:51And they happen to be white
03:53and most of them
03:54happen to be farmers.
03:55And that's a tough situation.
03:57I don't know how you explain that.
03:58How do you explain that?
