00:00Liverpool's gearing up for a momentous weekend of bank holiday events.
00:06Radio One's big weekends in Sefton Park and over the course of the weekend around 100 acts will take to the stage from the biggest artists in the world to new and emerging artists performing across four stages.
00:17It's what we love, we love doing events of this scale that are going to get national and international attention and yes of course there's a whole logistic side to it but more importantly for me it's how this puts the city on a national and international stage.
00:30The BBC has been working closely with Liverpool City Council and Mergeside Police to ensure the event is a safe and secure environment for all those attending the festival.
00:41You will have a high visibility robust policing operation in place with a range of assets, some you'll see, some you won't.
00:47We've got dogs deployed here and you've seen them today here at Sefton Park providing high visibility reassurance and also supporting security operation and search operation here at Radio One.
00:58With over 100,000 music fans expected to attend over the course of the weekend the festival shines a light on the surrounding area and provides a major boost to the local economy.
01:08Last year's festival generated £7 million for the host city of Luton.
01:12I think back to Eurovision and I think back to the half million visitors that came to the city during that time and actually reminding ourselves that almost 60,000 people returned, so those who attended Eurovision returned in the next six months.
01:26So, you know, people do return because they have a fantastic time here.
01:30Liverpool Football Club's Premier League Trophy Parade takes place on bank holiday Monday the 26th of May from 2.30pm.
01:36The major logistical challenges in arranging a parade of this scale, which is expected to be witnessed by hundreds of thousands of people, means months of planning's already been taking place behind the scenes across the city.
01:50It's always about the brand of Liverpool, you know, it's always about this city for us, you know, it's always about what impression are these huge events giving of our city to people that might not even have crossed their minds.
02:00So if you're a young person listening to Radio One at the moment, all you are hearing is Liverpool, that's all you're hearing.
02:06And that is really great because you're thinking about uni or you're thinking about college, you're thinking about going to live somewhere else, this is the place to do it.
02:12And then, of course, you've got the football parade where that is hugely global.
02:16As in 2019 and 2022, the key advice to supporters is to line the entire route planned travel in advance.
02:25And supporters are reminded that bringing their own flares is prohibited to protect the safety of all in attendance.
02:32So the images that come out from that will be of this incredible city with all their brilliant fans.
02:36Liverpool has been spoke about everywhere and so that is really something that, you know, we've also got to rely on because we can't rest on our laurels.
02:45We've got to understand that we've constantly got to evolve but also push out what makes our city so fantastic.
02:51And it is music, it is maritime, it is football.
02:54The full cost of the parade will be met by Liverpool Football Club.
