Transcript
00:00On the final weekend of the Premier League season, Exhibition Centre Liverpool is hosting a series of events under the banner of The Red Weekender for Liverpool fans.
00:10The events bring together Boss Night, The Anfield Rap, Redmen TV and tons of former players, musicians and well-known personalities for a weekend of partying.
00:20I'm honestly looking forward to the whole weekend. Obviously our show is going to be fantastic and I can't wait to do something in that incredible space.
00:27It'll be the biggest show we've ever done in Liverpool. I think it's 1,200 capacity and we've sold out which is amazing.
00:36So I'm looking forward to doing something in this incredible space but honestly just looking forward to the whole weekend.
00:40Headlining the weekend is the King himself, Kenny Daglish and marking 20 years since that unforgettable night in Istanbul, Rafa Benitez.
00:48If someone would have said to a 10-year-old me sitting down watching Family Fortunes of an evening, having watched Liverpool being managed by Kenny Daglish or whatever,
00:57that I would be playing Family Fortunes against him with him hosting it, it is like some mad fever dream of nostalgia.
01:05The fact that they've got Kenny Daglish coming on the Saturday afternoon is unbelievable.
01:09Heavy is the head that wears the crown, Kenny, and I'm coming for it.
01:12The live experience will be soundtracked by Liverpool fan favourites, The Ragamuffins,
01:16who will perform all the football songs you'll expect to hear and will close off with a very special performance.
01:22The Ragamuffins, who are great mates with, I mean Dave Jags, did the Bobby Firmino song, you know, one of the most celebrated Liverpool songs of the last decade.
01:31Absolute banger. It's full band, they're going to be doing the hits.
01:35There is live music as well with two of Liverpool's all-time great bands to get things started, the Lightning Seeds and the Zootons.
01:41And I think it just shows that people want to be involved in such a great event and, you know,
01:45and people want to be involved in the celebrations because it's quite rare that you could plan a league winning title party this far in advance,
01:53but because the team have done so well and because they've won it so early, everyone can plan it.
01:57So it just shows that whether you're a past player or whether you're a supporter or whether you're a part of the media or whatever it is,
02:02everyone wants to come and celebrate.
02:04A huge mix of special guest stars make up the rest of the programme, which will take place from Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th of May.
02:13The idea that we are bringing the classic to the stage for thousands of Liverpool fans and the Daglishers,
02:21the royal family of Liverpool Football Club on stage would let them in sing.
02:27Part of the idea of the Red Weekender was, what would it look like if we all sort of came together to an iconic location right on the banks of the River Mersey?
02:36What if we all shared like this mega production set up, you know, we're able to execute at a really high level
02:41and give our fans, not just in the city, but thousands of fans that are coming into the city an amazing opportunity to have an incredible time all weekend.
02:50Although the Reds won the Premier League in 2020, COVID restrictions cut back the partying,
02:56meaning this year's celebrations are set to be huge.
