00:00All right, it's time for JJ, our boy from The Ringer and New York, New York.
00:05And he just had his first kid with his wife on Saturday.
00:12And inexplicably, as usual, it always comes back to us.
00:16He named her Forelli.
00:17I'm so happy.
00:19What a great decision for the family.
00:22Forelli's a beautiful name for a girl.
00:24She's going to be a rock star.
00:26Of course, we were thinking about you, Scotty.
00:28I mean, forget about it.
00:29You know, the Knicks are going on at 3.30.
00:31She's born at 8.36.
00:33You know, there are a lot of people in mind.
00:35But always near and dear to my heart is my old pal, Scott Forelli.
00:39Thanks, pal.
00:40Anything for you.
00:41So what about this baby girl?
00:44So now you're in the club, girl dad.
00:48I'm a girl dad.
00:49Mafia girl dad.
00:50Carver High, a girl dad.
00:52We all have some boys, too.
00:56And, you know, it's crazy.
00:58Your life is going to turn upside down.
01:03You thought you were cool.
01:05You're going to find out how cool you are here in the coming months and years.
01:09You're about as cool as those diaper bags.
01:12I'll tell you what, bro.
01:13You are on the clock.
01:16What did you think?
01:16I got to tell you, when I had Gunner, when I found out I was having a son, I freaked.
01:22And then the day that he was born, I freaked again.
01:26And, like, I had it all going.
01:28Like, the cigars, the tequila.
01:31I had it all going.
01:32What was it like for you having your first child on Saturday?
01:37What was that experience like for you?
01:39Scott, I got to be honest.
01:40I don't think it's hit me quite yet.
01:43But you mentioned the sort of sleep deprivation I'm going to be getting.
01:48We did not get the – dude, we didn't get the nursery experience where the baby stayed with us the two days in the hospital we were there.
01:56Right.
01:57So, I feel like just getting – and I guess there's a silver lining to that.
02:00It probably wasn't the smartest thing for our sleep on Saturday and Sunday.
02:04But now just being back at home and not being crammed into that hospital room, it's like, holy smokes, dude.
02:11Your apartment's like a palace.
02:13You're on your couch.
02:14The TV is flat and beautiful.
02:17You're not staring up, hurting your neck, looking at it.
02:19So, I feel like we have kind of built ourselves up slowly but surely.
02:23But, yeah, craziness awaits, dude.
02:25But, you know, a lot of changing diapers, bottles, and, you know, mixing in entertainment, hopefully some winning bets along the way, you know?
02:35It never ends.
02:36The errands you're going to be running and the amount of babysitting you're going to be doing and cribbing and feedings at 3 in the morning and every time.
02:47So, here's the deal.
02:48Here's the tip I'm going to give you.
02:49I'm going to give you one tip.
02:51And Matthew and Carver Heil back me up.
02:52The first one, every single thing that happens to the kid, you guys are going to freak.
02:58When the kid gets sick, you're going to think the kid's dying.
03:01When the kid hits its head, you're going to think he's got brain damage.
03:05He's got a tumor.
03:07You know, if the kid has a rash, you think he's got, you know, syphilis.
03:13And then when you have a second kid, you bounce it like a basketball down the street.
03:19You're like, nothing.
03:20Like, the kid falls and breaks his leg.
03:22I had both my kids break their legs.
03:24The first one broke his leg.
03:25And then everyone thought, you know, we did it to him.
03:28The second one broke her leg.
03:30I was like, go to the hospital yourself.
03:33Just deal with it.
03:34I'm watching the Knicks.
03:36I get that because I'm one of three.
03:39There's a three-year gap between myself and Caroline.
03:42So, you know.
03:43And then the 13-year gap with Julie and myself.
03:46Forget about it.
03:47I lived it.
03:48I saw it.
03:49And it was quite the difference.
03:50It don't even matter.
03:51Specifically with mom.
03:52Uh-huh.
03:53A hundred percent.
03:54So, what do you think of the Knicks?
03:56I'm horny.
03:58How can you not be, dude?
03:59Scott, if you had me on this show a little under two weeks ago and we were previewing
04:05game one and you told me that the Knicks would be up three games to one in this series
04:11and you said, J.J., that's the world we're going to be living in, I'd be like, dude,
04:14what were you smoking before the show?
04:16What were you drinking before the show?
04:18Never in a million years would have believed you.
04:20But they snaked game one and two on the road.
04:23But they showed you something in game four because Tatum was going off.
04:27The Celtics were up double digits.
04:28The narrative was, oh, here we go.
04:31Order is restored.
04:32The Knicks are who we thought they were.
04:35And Jalen Brunson didn't let that happen.
04:37The fourth quarter, everybody on the team stepped up.
04:39It was a total collective team effort from Towns to Ananobi, who hit some big shots,
04:45to Bridges, who was cooking in a mid-range game.
04:48Everybody chipped in.
04:49And I think the coach knows a thing or two.
04:51You know, people want to kill him all too many minutes.
04:54The game has passed him by.
04:56Oh, he's awesome.
04:57Scott, they didn't win for a decade, a decade.
05:00They were a laughingstock before we walked into that building.
05:03They've been in the playoffs now in the second round three straight years.
05:06And, oh, by the way, his starting five played the entire third quarter.
05:10And they looked like the more conditioned and a team that was in better shape.
05:14But, oh, the coach plays him too many minutes.
05:15I think we can stop with that narrative.
05:17So, real quick, your thoughts on Judge, the season he's having, and how do you think the
05:24Giants will do with Dart and Carter?
05:27So, I like what the Giants did in the draft.
05:30The problem for them, Scott, their division is loaded.
05:34Their schedule stinks as far as being able to win games.
05:38One of the hardest schedules in the league.
05:40How do Giants get into a place where they're a competitive team this year?
05:43I don't see it.
05:44So, their process makes sense.
05:46We'll see if Dart can play when they put him on the field at the end of the year.
05:49I wouldn't be going nuts if I'm a Giant fan just watching Shane and Dable dapping each
05:53other up in April.
05:54Let's see it in November or December.
05:57Judge is a freak, man.
05:58Dude, he must watch television any time he gets in at bat.
06:01I think he's got a great chance to win a triple crown this year.
06:04And, look, he's done everything you could want to do from a baseball player perspective
06:09except win and deliver when it matters the most.
06:12It's unfair for Aaron Judge, but that's kind of the standard that he set.
06:15He's got to do it in October.
06:17And what do you think of Freed Chicken?
06:19Max has been great pitching for him.
06:22Where would they be without Max Freed?
06:24Listen, I wanted Soto back.
06:27Freed, in theory, has been a lot more valuable.
06:30They don't have Garrett Cole.
06:31He has won every single start he's made for the New York Yankees.
06:34Team has won every single one of those games.
06:36He goes deep into games.
06:37He competes his tail off.
06:38He's kind of got like an Andy Pettit vibe to him.
06:41That signing, as long as he takes the ball every fifth day,
06:44is paying significant dividends for the Yankees.
06:48He's a stud.
06:49You were already a stud, already a great talent, already a great guy.
06:54Then you got married, and I said, man, he's starting to move up in the world.
06:57Now you got a kid.
06:59Your grown man moves now, son.
07:01I'm super proud of you.
07:02Super happy for you.
07:04Congratulations to you, mama, and the entire family.
07:08Anytime.
07:09Thanks, Scotty.
07:10Enjoy.
