00:27on a lone hike out of nowhere try and stop you just please let's try try to talk some sense into me

00:34so this guy uh found alive after he disappeared in the kentucky wilderness now rescuers have

00:39revealed the clues that helped them find him 48 year old scott hearn was last seen by his family

00:44in ohio two weeks before he went hiking in the red river gorge nearly 100 miles away

00:52hearn's diary revealed that he had previously visited bells falls along highway 715

01:00which led crews to revisit that area so when they he went missing they looked at his diary

01:06it's a diary he's a 48 year old chubby man with a diary check his diary

01:10why does he have a diary i don't know i don't know pretty lonely i question anyone that has a

01:51during their search about two weeks after he was reported missing rescuers found a shoe print

01:55and evidence of a walking stick and then a faint noise was heard calling out

02:18uh they say it's truly a miracle that he was found that faint noise helped them locate him

02:28on a steep embankment oh my god so he fell after 14 days 12 of those days without food and water

02:37water well one day i managed to kill a possum and sort of eat his meat but

02:42i guess it helps your chubby right like it helps like still you need water that's him there

02:50oh he looks happy yeah well he's alive it didn't even trim him down that much though

02:55you know i'll be honest he doesn't he shouldn't be hiking

02:57no he does not look like he's got the body type 48 years old alone out of shape and

03:03but he looks like he has a diary he does looks like a man with a diary haircut and that smile

03:09yeah the haircut the haircut yeah for sure uh his family told the rescue team that he had been

03:15visiting the area the past few months in search of waterfalls and his diary indicated several

03:20locations that he planned to visit don't go chasing waterfalls do not go he looks like he has that

04:27roughest terrain you can imagine it was very dangerous for anyone even to be out there their

04:31team spent hours bushwhacking in the search area they stopped to regroup and one of the people heard

04:38that faint noise and then they heard help so they took off in that direction as we got closer we asked

04:48what his name was and he said scott hern and they said they knew they had found him he looked at them

04:55and said thank you so much will you give me a hug there's a rescue man oh my god look at all you boys

05:16you guys came all this way for me let's do group hugs he said it was the best hug of his life

05:26due to his location on the heavy terrain the kentucky state police assisted in a hoist operation

05:34he was put onto an orange stretcher and airlifted from the remote location to the university of

05:39kentucky hospital doctors allowed him to start eating food yesterday although he's still not able

05:45to walk on his own it's just you don't you don't think it's gonna go like this when you're like

05:50you know what i'm gonna chase a waterfall today yeah i just don't know if like you're not like

05:55really a hiker like why you do it that way just go to one of the parks with the the trails safe park

06:00yeah get out of there but listen maps and stuff if i'm by myself so and i go on yes that was his

06:22yeah chubby man don't hike in the wilderness by yourself i mean in a way it's a great weight loss

06:36idea if you survive yeah it's a weight loss or death you know stick me on the side of a cliff

06:40it's weird to see a missing poster with like a big fat band i'd be like did you check hardy's

06:44yeah you checked all their first that's what took so long that's what took so long 98 percent of fat

07:13less than a mile it's not like we take out back he fell so he fell but it was a short hike he didn't

07:20have this intention of doing a long hike i don't think i hope not i hope not he just it just fell

07:27right away and no one saw him it's a pretty popular trail yeah but you know a lot a lot of these trails

07:32it's it's got the roots and then like maybe it was a little wet yeah and then you're but look i

07:39mean this one looks like it's got the fence and everything i don't know what he is there different

07:43but yeah most of them are listed as easy or moderate there's only one that's listed as difficult yeah i

07:49wonder what you just stay away from the difficult i don't know what kind of shape you got to be like

07:54in jason type of shape to go on difficult even i stay away from that yeah would you not do

07:59difficult because you think it's like mountain climbing yeah rocks yeah yeah the one we did was

08:04listed as moderate oh yeah no two and a half hours each way i'm gonna need to be rock climbing out

08:10yeah yeah no just walk walk five hours of hiking would kill me see you can see the one where it's
