00:00Saturday big day in Las Vegas yes Nickelback is coming to T-Mobile Arena absolutely and

00:05Chad Kroger joining us now how are you sir I'm good I'm good you started in uh and what I mean

00:12does do we count Ledyard Connecticut as it or was it Quebec City to start this round of the tour

00:17uh we'd started the the tour back yeah they were nice enough to lend us their arena don't have a

00:25hockey team anymore bit of a soft spot for sorry uh yeah we were able to set up there and just uh

00:33start working out all the songs working out all the bugs uh go through all the the pyrocute you

00:38everything that goes on in the show for like and then away we went that's awesome that's exciting

00:45what's different about touring now uh than it was gosh the last time you toured which was what year

00:51well I mean well all the right reasons it's supposed to happen what in 2020 right yeah we

00:57did some touring in 2019 before that and probably a deep size tour in 2017 before that um so the

01:03difference between now and then it the vocal cords a little longer to heal up every night

01:08yeah yeah people are screaming a little more in the audience it seems like there's a lot of people

01:14that have been waiting for this ability to be able to you know go scream and let loose at a

01:18nickelback show and the new thing for you is now people throw stuff at you from the audience

01:22uh I'm noticing that like globally I'm seeing uh like Harry Styles getting hit face yeah and

01:31Taylor Swift getting hit with stuff I mean fans are throwing stuff up but even like they kind of

01:35want you to sign them sometimes uh sometimes it's bras a lot of bras nice for rock stars yes

01:41yeah women don't want to keep their underwear anymore so you know that's always a that's always

01:48a funny one like I'll pick one up sometimes I'm like oh that looks expensive do you want this one

01:51back sweetheart do you ever pick one up and say gosh that's big uh years ago a woman threw a bra on

02:03stage and it looked like a parachute built for two and it was so big like I did as a gag for a while

02:11and I would like you know I would bring this thing out you know so I would talk about it because it

02:15was just such a good talking point on stage so I would pull it you know I would open it up and

02:21it just and you'd hear the entire crowd at the same time go oh open it up wow I'm like any guesses to

02:34the size of this bra any guess you know here's like the standard like dudes that don't have any

02:39idea what bra sizes actually are start but I'm like h h wow wow hey Chad so you're gonna be here on

02:49on a Saturday the 15th you you don't have you you have a couple days off are you traveling or are

02:55you gonna hang in Vegas for a little bit I've got some friends like everyone just waits for you to

03:01get to Vegas and then it's just like we're coming to Vegas like you know like I'm coming to your city

03:07no don't care coming to Vegas it's a destination really we've seen it actually with the Canadian

03:14hockey fans they come here for Golden Knights games in droves I mean it's it's unreal like

03:19Edmonton comes here I think 5,000 deep when the Oilers are in town yeah I mean I even made it to

03:25one of the games in one of the playoff games in Vegas and it was fantastic I mean the there is a

03:33level of shock and awe that happens when the Golden Knights play with the amount of production going on

03:40that doesn't happen enough like I don't think that the the visiting teams have

03:46any idea of the like decibel on spot that's because it's it turned like between every

03:53they hired like your sound guy yeah it's not fair it's not fair it's great but uh

04:03who's who's your team if I have to ask uh this year Vegas oh wow there we go you can jump on you

04:12can jump on you're north of the board I know that a lot of like diehard NHL fans they hate the Knights

04:18why is this well maybe because uh the captain of the team didn't say no something nice about their band

04:25uh he said something somebody took a microphone to his face somewhere it was like uh what gets

04:32you pumped up before a game and he just goes anything Nickelback and I was like I love you

04:36that's beautiful that's awesome and you know what good because somebody's gonna put respect on the

04:41name Nickelback because you for whatever reason people why are people that you guys sell out

04:47everywhere you have massive concerts huge fans but like Nickel why is it like some people use it as a

04:52like a trend ridiculous I'm happy to say the hate train's over yeah oh okay okay I love that

05:00it's it's uh for whatever reason TikTok or something like that just like made it not cool to hate on the

05:07band anymore and then like even like even these hardcore metal dudes on on their podcast shows they're

05:13like all right we might have been a little hard on Nickelback back in the day

05:16well but you gotta I mean even the the hate I feel like it's it brought you more fame by people

05:26just talking about you no matter what they were saying 100 percent one million percent one million

05:31percent yep they didn't even realize that the more smack talk that was going on I'm like you know

05:37that you're just keeping us in the headlines right you're only making us more powerful right we cannot

05:42be stopped I felt like hope absolutely felt like Obi-Wan your hate and Timmy Hoes is gonna get me

05:50through this day um let's talk about the new single these days it is so like every emotion like I just

05:58brought back to me being six years old crisscross applesauce watching tv and like thinking of like

06:04all the stuff that made me happy when I was younger why how are you able to do that often with your

06:10music you just put me in a zone nostalgia is a powerful it's a powerful tool when it comes to

06:16songwriting you know like you if you like when you taste something it's like you know your mom's

06:20cooking or something like that or you smell a fragrance from somebody you used to date or you

06:24hear that song you know from high school that you and all your buddies love or maybe the first time

06:28you fell in love you know and and it's it's powerful it really is and we just kind of took

06:33all of them and just threw it into the spaghetti sauce and we were like okay let's just hit every

06:38single one of them you know we're talking about concerts we're talking about falling in love we're

06:42talking about movies we're talking about you know the songs that we used to love back then we're

06:46talking about just every single thing um and when you can fire on all cylinders like that and and

06:52and getting the crowd to sing along with a brand new song because we start off and you know that

06:56we start off the song like that we get the crowd singing to this thing and then once the end of it

07:06comes it is just like unbelievable anthemic like thousands of people just singing this thing and it

07:14just gets so powerful it's great incredible it's got to be such an awesome feeling i mean new songs

07:20old songs the fact that you know younger kids know your older songs and and older people are knowing

07:25you're new you know it's just it's you've been around for for such a long strong time and i know

07:30you're part of my life growing up sean and i talk about it so growing up like all right now

07:37we're pretty close in age we're pretty close yeah we just pretend we're young up with you is what

07:42we're saying there we go there we go uh honestly we're really happy for you finally and you know

07:49you only had a few shows before this tour started that were post-covid like it just

07:53must have must have been so good to finally get back on on the on on the you know on the road and

08:00be able to do this and finally i noticed that the tour that was canceled in 2020 didn't have a vegas

08:04date so we're okay with this this is meant to be i'm i'm i'm glad that we got to hit far more stops

08:10on this one too um it was really weird for a while there i was so a few months in i'm like this thing's

08:16gonna pass everything's gonna go away it's gonna be fine then a year in i'm like

08:21oh we should do something

08:23am i retired

08:28what's what's going on yeah i know there are some some creative types who are like you know this is

08:36good we're getting to work and write and get in the studio we've been doing stuff remote and stuff

08:40like that but like there's a certain point it's like all right yeah enough we need to play for

08:44someone i know yeah you know like when the foo fighters come out with their fourth pandemic

08:49record it's time to get did i do enough foo fighters still fighting yeah uh chad we're

08:57really excited to have you on saturday buddy and uh longer tour than uh than we thought but i'll tell

09:02you we are uh so excited that you're swinging by and actually you're going to be meeting one of

09:05our listeners as well we're really pumped that's exciting perfect someone coming up to do a little
