00:00All right, it's your girl Lori Mack here from 105 When the Bounce,
00:02and I'm here with a regular.
00:04Literally, we're going to call him a regular
00:05because he's going to be here for more things than one.
00:07I have the pleasure of having Dice Clark back in the studio.
00:11What up, though?
00:12What up, though? What up, though? Thank you.
00:13It's a pleasure to be back.
00:15Just build me a room here because...
00:17Might as well.
00:17I'm going to be a regular for sure. I love it.
00:20Are you always doing something in the city?
00:22You got something actually happening this Saturday, right?
00:24Yes, correct.
00:24Okay, feeding the homeless.
00:26Yes, yes.
00:27Tell me about it.
00:28Well, first, before I start, I want to give a shout-out to Karma Evans.
00:31Okay.
00:32She's the spearhead of this.
00:33I got to give her recognition because I don't want to take her credit,
00:38which I joined her.
00:39I do a lot in the community.
00:41She know it.
00:42Her mother started this 20-plus years ago.
00:46Oh, nice.
00:47And she took it over.
00:49Mother passed on, and then she wanted to keep her mother's legacy going.
00:52So she reached out to me and said,
00:53Hey, man, I need some help.
00:54I know you don't mind.
00:56Can you join me?
00:57Oh, most definitely.
00:58So I jumped the board, and we've been taking care of the homeless.
01:02We clothe them, get them hygiene kicks, and then we feed them.
01:07Oh, that's beautiful.
01:08And all this is happening this Saturday?
01:10This Saturday.
01:10We do it every year.
01:12You do it every year.
01:12Once a year.
01:13We're trying to do more, but we need more people involved to do it more than once a year.
01:18But we stick with the same shelter, but we're doing it this Saturday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
01:24Oh, nice.
01:25Okay, so what shelter is it?
01:26It's a, I don't know the name of it, but it's an all-male shelter.
01:31Oh, okay.
01:32But it's located at 3535 3rd Street, right at Martin Luther King.
01:37Oh, nice.
01:37And you said she's been doing this every year.
01:40Yes.
01:40And she needs help.
01:41So she's looking for volunteers.
01:43Yeah, yes.
01:43People to come out, donate as well.
01:46Yes.
01:46Where can they go to donate?
01:48Well, they can send to our cash app.
01:50Mine is Love Our Kids 413, or they can Zelle at 313-425-6473.
01:59Oh, nice.
01:59I'm excited about this.
02:01No, it's dope.
02:02It'd be nice every year.
02:03They love it.
02:04And I stick with the same one.
02:06I told her, let's stick with the same shelter so they can get familiar with us.
02:09We get familiar with them because we don't just feed them and clothe them.
02:12We try to get them back on their feet to get back out here in the world so they can help us.
02:17So we help the men out that's able, then we get them back on their feet.
02:22Then now their job is to come and join us, go back and reach and get other men.
02:27That's a beautiful thing.
02:28I really love it because, like you said, you give, then they come back and they give back.
02:32Right.
02:33And it's just like a never-ending cycle.
02:35Yeah.
02:35That's really important because here in the city, we don't have a lot of that.
02:38We don't.
02:39And we're trying to clean it up so it don't be a lot of homeless going on.
02:44The more we clean up and help join us and build that unity, then now we can help each other from falling off becoming homeless.
02:51Right.
02:51And we just go back and get people that's willing.
02:54Now the ones that's on drugs that's going to take a little longer because we have to get them put in rehab and all that cleaned up.
03:02But the ones who are not on drugs that's just got a bad deal in their life at this moment, that they got a chance.
03:10They just need that push because we all go through something.
03:13You know what I'm saying?
03:13Yes, we do.
03:14You never know.
03:15You might be not putting this on you, but people can be one paycheck away from being homeless.
03:20Literally, one paycheck.
03:21You know what I'm saying?
03:22I mean, I am.
03:23I mean, I'd say it out there, but I do live paycheck to paycheck.
03:25I think we all have.
03:26No, you're not the only one.
03:28There's so many people who say that now.
03:30But in order for us to survive and make it as a whole, we have to hold each other accountable and hold each other up.
03:36So if you're in bad shape or you feel like you're falling off, most of what I've learned, too, most of the problem is with our culture, our pride.
03:46People got to learn to swallow their pride.
03:48They could be losing their car because they're behind on notes.
03:51This other black person don't have a car but can pay the notes.
03:55But you won't say, hey, can you take over my notes till I get back on my feet?
04:00Right.
04:00You would rather let it go back and you could be helping somebody.
04:03Y'all helping each other.
04:04Yeah.
04:05But we don't do that.
04:06We were ready to get kicked out of our house.
04:08We behind two months.
04:09We don't say nothing because we be embarrassed.
04:11And you don't know who will help you, but closed mouths don't get fed.
04:14You got that right.
04:15You know what I'm saying?
04:15But we got to learn to just swallow that pride, reach out.
04:18And that's the thing, checking on each other.
04:22Got to ask them questions.
04:23If you love somebody and it's your family or your friend, you should know they going through that.
04:28You should.
04:28You supposed to.
04:29Right.
04:30It is crazy whenever somebody's going through something and the family member be like, oh, I didn't even know they was out like that.
04:34I didn't even know.
04:35So I'm like, you know, word spreads fast.
04:38Like you didn't hear nothing.
04:39A lot of times, a lot of family members just don't want to help.
04:42Right.
04:42They just don't.
04:42And it's sad because it might be you one day and then you're going to turn around and need them people.
04:47Exactly.
04:47And my father, rest in peace to Joe Finn, but he told me and my brother Jody, when we was kids, you treat everybody right because you don't know who might be God.
04:58Ooh.
04:59And you get to them gates and you'd be like, you remember that one time?
05:02Right.
05:03That was me.
05:04You know what I'm saying?
05:05Y'all never know.
05:05So you just treat everybody the same.
05:07You should.
05:07Just be nice to everybody.
05:09Naturally.
05:09That's why I love that you and you said your partner was, what was her name again?
05:13Carmen Evans.
05:13Carmen.
05:14And she's from Detroit Table Talk podcast.
05:17Detroit Table Talk.
05:18Yeah.
05:18Okay.
05:18I like that.
05:19Yeah, she's dope.
05:20She's dope.
05:20Find her.
05:21No, you have to.
05:22She had you as a guest on there, man.
05:23Okay, look.
05:24Yeah, for sure.
05:25One for a favor for a favor.
05:26Right, right, right, right.
05:27Yeah.
05:28No, that's good.
05:29It's dope.
05:29Her mother started some long time ago and she just want to keep it going.
05:34That's what I love.
05:35Her spirit is good.
05:36Helping the community, giving back.
05:37Because we do it out of our pocket.
05:39She was one.
05:40It's refreshing to see other people that do it.
05:42Not refreshing.
05:43It is.
05:44No, it is.
05:45Yeah, because you don't feel like, oh, it's not just me out here.
05:47Right.
05:47So for us to team up, that's the part about the unity I'm talking about.
05:51We both doing something we love doing and we just coming together to make it easy on both of us.
05:57But now we even have several people who done joined us.
06:02Really?
06:02Who teamed up.
06:03Yeah, they reaching out.
06:04Now how do you join if you want to join, volunteer, or just be a part of the crew?
06:07Yeah, I mean, like I tell everybody, it's simple.
06:10Just reach out.
06:11Once we post a flyer, a lot of people see.
06:14It ain't always about donations.
06:16People always think it's financially all the time.
06:19If you don't have it financially, donate your time.
06:23Come be hands on.
06:25Because what people fail to realize, talking to them homeless men or women or families, they need that.
06:32They want you to hear their story.
06:35And once you see and hear from them, you'll be a little more sympathetic.
06:40Yeah.
06:40You know what I'm saying?
06:40And you might want to help that much more then.
06:43Because for me, it ain't about just giving them food and then we gone for the day.
06:47Pat on the back.
06:48We did a good deed.
06:49No.
06:49We got to do more than that.
06:51It's deeper than that.
06:52Because today they need housing.
06:53They need transportation.
06:55They need a way to get around.
06:56And I feel, I mean, build up their self-esteem.
06:58You know what I'm saying?
06:58No, for real.
06:59No, definitely.
07:00That's what we got to do.
07:01And that's why I love doing what I'm doing.
07:03Because I get close and personal with everybody I help, from the kids, the seniors, the homeless.
07:10I sit down and have conversations with them.
07:12You do it all.
07:12That's why I love about you so much.
07:14Thanks.
07:14You always moving around.
07:16You're versatile.
07:18I try to be, thank God.
07:20Look, God, okay?
07:22God is the highest power of love.
07:23All praises to Him.
07:24All praise.
07:24And now you're doing something else.
07:26I love it.
07:26So it's happening this Saturday, 2 to 5.
07:29Correct.
07:29Give us the address one more time.
07:30Yep, it's 3535 3rd Street, right at Martin Luther King.
07:35We will be going out there like 12 noon to set up.
07:37Okay.
07:38Get everything set up.
07:39And then we start serving them at 2 p.m.
07:42Okay.
07:43And then if people want to come out and volunteer, they just show up?
07:45Yes, just show up.
07:46Pull up.
07:47They can pull up as early as 12 noon.
07:49Or they can use the number 313-425-6473.
07:55They can text or leave a voicemail.
07:57And I will respond within 24 hours.
08:00Nice.
08:01But if they want to donate, again, they can cash out.
08:04Love our kids, 413.
08:07Or Zale at that number.
08:09313-425-6473.
08:12Oh, I love it.
08:12And you got to shout out to your socials.
08:14Yes.
08:15Okay, yeah.
08:15You can follow me on Facebook.
08:18They say that's for old people.
08:19Oh, Lord.
08:20No, that's not true.
08:21I get talked about so much because I love Facebook.
08:23Wait, I'm still on Facebook.
08:25Well, that's good.
08:26I don't feel that bad, though.
08:28But Dice Clark on Facebook.
08:30Okay.
08:30And then Dice Clark 413 on Instagram.
08:34Okay.
08:34Them the only two I have.
08:35I don't do the TikTok or the whatever else is out there.
08:38I was going to ask you, like, now I have moved on to TikTok.
08:41I haven't yet.
08:42I don't think I ever go to TikTok.
08:44Why not?
08:45I don't know.
08:46Everybody keep telling me it'll be beneficial for me.
08:48It will be beneficial.
08:50I just haven't done it because I don't know.
08:52I just haven't gotten into it.
08:53I like it because it's a wider audience.
08:56Like, you don't just get it from right here.
08:57You get it from around the world.
08:59Everybody tunes in, taps in.
09:00And the next thing you know, you look up, everybody wants to support.
09:03You get a lot of supporters.
09:04Like, I guess sometimes I get more views and love on TikTok than I do on Instagram or Facebook.
09:10Yeah.
09:10I get, like, one video, I got, like, 10,000 views on it.
09:13Oh, wow.
09:14Like, it was dope.
09:15And it's just from something I was posting.
09:16Like, people that don't really understand or if you're doing something that they love that you're doing, they're going to support you.
09:22And then once you get out of that support system, shoot, when you say cash out, but I need to get this and that, I'm trying to fund this.
09:27Yeah, yeah.
09:27They'll send you boxes.
09:29They'll send you packages.
09:30They'll send you money.
09:31They'll send you everything.
09:32And on top of that, you start growing your fan base until you get paid.
09:37Oh, they pay you all for that.
09:38Yeah, they do.
09:39Once you start getting a certain status quo, you get paid, you get endorsements, you get advertising, you get everything.
09:45Oh, you're going to have me on TikTok tonight.
09:47You know what I'm saying?
09:48Look, I mean, think about it.
09:49Yeah, I am.
09:50Shoot, I'm listening to you.
09:51I already thought about it.
09:53Yeah, me and Dee, we've been trying to do the same thing.
09:55So, no, it's a good platform if you're trying to just expand your brand.
09:59Well, I thank you for that information.
10:01Absolutely.
10:01I thank you for always coming out, and I'm excited.
10:03I might have to just pull up on Saturday.
10:05Yeah, please.
10:06It'll be nice.
10:06I would love to just be with you.
10:07I tell everybody, everybody is welcome, even if you got five minutes or an hour, whatever the time you can help give.
10:15Just come see what we're doing, take some pictures, talk to some of these people, because they just like us.
10:20They no different.
10:21Yeah.
10:21We're just doing a good cause for the moment.
10:23Yeah, and it's important, because sometimes you never know how you can make somebody's day.
10:27Just by listening, having a conversation, it could change somebody's whole mood, whole day.
10:32Yeah, yeah, yeah.
10:32So, yeah, I'm down for that, and I can't wait to talk to them, talk to you.
10:35Yes, yes.
10:36And just be in the presence of greatness.
10:37I'm going to have to come right before my show, though.
10:39That's fine.
10:39That's fine.
10:40Yeah, no problem.
10:41But I'll be there, though.
10:42I'll make sure we had the sounds out there.
10:44We have it tuned in at 105.1 to bounce.
10:47Only right.
10:47Shout out to y'all right while we out there.
10:49I'll make sure that happens.
10:50We appreciate you so much, Dice.
10:52That's Dice Clark from 105.1 to bounce.
