Pet Portraits, Events, And A New Addition

00:09I'm Debbie Mazzella, and it's always a great afternoon when you get to spend it at Karmacat

00:13Zen Dog Rescue Society, and there is so much going on. We are actually going to introduce

00:18you to a newbie, and we're not talking about a cat, okay? We're talking about a human,

00:22and you're going to want to meet her, but we are going to lead off with something special

00:26that Karmacat is doing once again, and it is the pet portraits. Now, you may think,

00:32wait a minute, are they going to be painting? What are they going to be doing? Follow along

00:37on the video and look at these photos. You can make one of these for a great Christmas present

00:42for yourself or for somebody else, and all you have to do is submit your pet's photo,

00:47and it's $25 for it, and I'm telling you, they come out fantastic. Look at the photos here on the video.

00:53I guarantee you'll get a chuckle or two, and you could do a cat or a dog, or cat and dog,

00:58doesn't matter, but definitely do it. It's running between now and November 30th, so $25,

01:10So with me today is Gina Dwyer, and we always talk to you about volunteer opportunities here

01:14at Karmacat, and she's going to tell you what they're looking for for this month.

01:18So I'm here twice a week taking photos of the cats and hanging out with them,

01:23spending time with them, and right now we're looking for morning cleaners. It's about a two-hour

01:29commitment twice a month, and we're also looking for fosters to care for our cats while they wait

01:37to be adopted. Karmacat covers all of their needs, food and litter, and basically you just give them

01:45a spare room or a bathroom and lots of love and affection until they're ready to be adopted.

01:52We're also looking for people to join our merch team. We are looking for people to help out at

01:58merch events or people to craft, and all of the proceeds go to Karmacatzendog.

02:04And we've got something really special to tell you about that involves the merch

02:09that Karmacat Zen Dog Rescue Society sells here. So we will save that for the end of the video,

02:15a little teaser. Right now we're going to turn it over to Crystal Hazard, who's got some exciting

02:19info about fundraising, and she's going to introduce you to a really cool human who's a newbie here at

02:25Karmacat. Thanks, Debbie. Yeah, so it's getting towards the holiday season, and we know everybody's

02:32going to be celebrating Thanksgiving in later November, and there's Thanksgiving and then Black

02:38Friday, and then you go shopping on Cyber Monday, which is really big right now. And then after you

02:45bought all sorts of stuff for yourself and your family, it's time to do a little giving and show

02:49a little gratitude. So that's what we've got Giving Tuesday for, which is the Tuesday right after

02:53Thanksgiving. So we celebrate this every year. It's a huge fundraising day for us. We do a countdown

02:59on social media, and we love to show what we're grateful for, and that's the theme we're going

03:03with this year. So every day you're going to get some info about us, the things we're grateful

03:07for, which is you, by the way. And we're going to be raising some money to help our organization

03:14keep doing what we do best, which is save lives. And so speaking of what we're really grateful

03:20for right now, I'm going to give you guys a little heads up, and that is our new Meltown

03:25Center Manager. And this is Anjali. She joined us in September, and we're really excited to

03:31have her. So I just joined in in September as the Adoption Center Manager, and part of my

03:36job is managing this space, making sure the cats have everything that they need here, working

03:41with volunteers, and also helping people adopt the cats. So it's really something that I love

03:47doing. I love cats, obviously. That's why I'm here. And I'm so happy to be part of this

03:54team. You know, we do such great things here, and it's really fulfilling to be part of something

03:58like that, where we get to save these lives, and get cats adopted, and just form these bonds

04:03with people and animals. And I'm really grateful to be here.

04:07Did you hear her on the mic? I mean, she's fantastic. She's going to take my job next month. I'm just

04:12going to show up, play with the cats, and Anjali is going to do the entire video by herself.

04:16We'll swap for a month. Oh, good. Yeah, we could definitely swap. We hand over the mic,

04:21all of a sudden, her voice is booming, and everything's great. It's like, okay, I don't

04:26need to be here. I could just go play with cats all day, so it's fine. So we told you about

04:31merch, okay? And we've got something really special that is coming up on December 3rd. It's

04:36a Saturday, Catterday, and it's going to be between noon and 3, and it's a Route 516 Animal

04:41Hospital in Ulbridge, and it is the pet photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus. So we would love

04:48for you to come by, support Karma Cat Zen Dog Rescue Society, bring your pet to have a photo

04:54with Santa and Mrs. Claus, and the proceeds that are raised, there's going to be another

04:58rescue there, and Karma Cat Zen Dog Rescue Society. So the proceeds raised that day get

05:03split between both rescues. So we could have some fun for a couple of hours. Magic 98.3 is

05:08going to be there. We will have some prizes and raffles, and there'll be refreshments

05:12and hot cocoa, and of course, lots of talk about our furry companions who we love more

05:19than anything. I always say that we don't deserve animals because they're just so good

05:23to us, but bring your pets that day. We will have all the info on the events page at magic983.com,

05:29but that's another way that you can come out and support Karma Cat Zen Dog Rescue Society.
