00:01Every Friday at about this time we check in with Vegas film critic Jeff Howard.
00:04Jeff, it's been a while since we've seen you, so we have to catch up.
00:08We have to. You guys were on vacation last week, and one of the biggest films of the year, of the summer, came out last week.
00:14We have to talk about from Jordan Peele, one of the most visionary and exciting filmmakers that hits Hollywood in the last decade.
00:20It's called Nope. And you've probably seen the commercials.
00:23Daniel Kaluuya and Kiki Palmer, our brother and sister, they're running a horse farm, and something is terrorizing them.
00:29It looks like an alien. It looks like some strange phenomenon.
00:33And what I love about Jordan Peele is he's like the modern M. Night Shyamalan.
00:38He's always giving you twists.
00:40Please do not think what you see on TV in these commercials is what's going on in the movie.
00:44I don't get surprised very often, and I was totally just blown away by what was going on in this movie.
00:50He surprised me.
00:51Really?
00:52Yeah, it is horrific, and it's terrifying.
00:54And you've got Steven Yeo, who also runs a horse western theme park, and he's exploiting this phenomenon to make money.
01:03And Universal Studios Hollywood recreated the western town so you can go take the tour in California this summer.
01:09Yeah, it's just fantastic.
01:09That's awesome.
01:10I'm laughing because when you saw his first one, Get Out, which you thought, you know, and I think a lot of us thought, well, this will be funny.
01:18I thought it was like the movie Scream.
01:20I thought it was kind of a goof.
01:22No.
01:22And his second film, Us.
01:24So this is his only third film, and this guy is just so exciting.
01:26So he goes to open the theater.
01:28It's fantastic.
01:29All right, what else?
01:29Also, we have a pandemic love story from writer-director, you ready for this, Katie Holmes.
01:34Oh, really?
01:35Yeah, starring her and Jim Sturgis.
01:36They book an Airbnb outside of New York City at the same time.
01:41So it's kind of like a pandemic goodbye girl.
01:43Oh, my gosh.
01:44Well, that's kind of normal at that time, actually.
01:46Yeah, it is.
01:46We always see these hot zone movies about the pandemic.
01:49Here's a romantic comedy.
01:50Yeah.
01:50Well, mostly romantic drama about them, you know, finding each other, having bad breakups, and living in the same Airbnb during a pandemic.
01:58Okay.
01:58And it's fantastic.
02:00It's a really great drama.
02:01It's refreshing to see something that reflected that's positive coming out of the pandemic.
02:04Yeah.
02:05You know, so that's available right now.
02:06Doesn't happen very often.
02:06Right.
02:07Yeah.
02:07Also, we have a sci-fi series on PopcornFlix.com.
02:10This is for free.
02:11It's from Casper Van Diem, who did Starship Troopers.
02:14This is called Salvage Marines, which is almost like Starship Troopers.
02:18You know, in Starship Troopers, he joined the Marines to get it for a woman.
02:22In Salvage Marines, he has to join to, you know, make money for his family.
02:26Right.
02:26And it's streaming for free on PopcornFlix.com.
02:29It's a little low budget, but you know what?
02:31It reminds you of Starship Troopers, and Casper is fantastic.
02:33That was kind of fun.
02:34Starship Troopers was kind of fun.
02:36Yes.
02:36And also streaming on Reel's channel.
02:38We have Live PD back, but this time it's called On Patrol Live.
02:42Dan Abrams is back.
02:43Sean Sticks Larkin is back.
02:45We're traveling around with police departments around the country live as it happens.
02:49And I really like those shows.
02:51All right.
02:51I support our local police.
02:53Same here.
02:53That just makes me so antsy watching them on those things.
02:56It does.
02:57It makes you nervous.
02:58Yeah, it makes you nervous.
02:59All right.
02:59And also, remember, go to my YouTube channel.
03:01I have interviews with Katie Holmes and Jim Sturgis.

03:11It's been that long.
03:13How time flies.
03:14Keep reminding me, Jeff.
03:15Keep reminding me how time flies.
