00:03Every Friday we do it.
00:04Vegas film critic Jeff Howard in studio talking about
00:07what you can watch on the big screen, what you can watch at home.
00:10Yes.
00:11Big weekend again this weekend.
00:12Oh, my gosh.
00:12Harry Potter fans unite.
00:14We have the new Fantastic Beasts.
00:16Oh, wow.
00:16Yeah, the Secrets of Dumbledore.
00:19The Wizarding World's in turmoil because Grindelwald is the most wanted wizard right now,
00:23and he's trying to take over the wizard world,
00:25and he wants to fight with the Muggles.
00:27He wants to destroy all the humans, too.
00:28Oh, my God.
00:29Bastards.
00:30Yes, absolutely.
00:31You know, there's all kinds of controversy around this movie because, you know,
00:34Johnny Depp, he was supposed to be Grindelwald.
00:35Now we have Mads Milkinson, who I think is a better casting choice.
00:38Good.
00:39Also, there's controversy about, you know, Ezra Miller, who plays The Flash.
00:44You know, he's been in Hawaii getting drunk and getting arrested,
00:46and he plays Credence Dumbledore in this.
00:49So I'm like, I'm looking at this movie, like there's so much controversy.
00:51And, of course, you know, they're editing out all, you know,
00:53spoiler alert, Dumbledore is gay, you know,
00:55and they're editing all those parts out to play in China.
00:58And so everyone's up in arms.
01:00And I watched the movie.
01:01It's so subtle.
01:02It's not like they have, you know, these massive scenes where it's in here.
01:05There's a big pride parade.
01:06Yeah.
01:06It's just like, you know, he's like, Dumbledore's like, you know,
01:08he loved Grindelwald in the early days.
01:10You know, that was it.
01:10One line.
01:11I'm like, really?
01:12Now, overall, I thought the movie was boring.
01:14I thought it was dull.
01:15It was too long.
01:16It's fascist, you know?
01:18It's just like, because most of the movie takes place in the Minister of Magic in Germany,
01:21you know?
01:22So I'm just like, and Grindelwald's guys are dressed like Gestapo.
01:25And I'm like, and it wasn't fun.
01:27You know, there wasn't anything magical.
01:28I'll give you that.
01:29Yeah.
01:29I mean, it wasn't magical.
01:30Wow.
01:30I'm using that term in a sense of wonder.
01:33Right.
01:33Right.
01:33It was just so heavy, and I couldn't wait to get out of there.
01:36So I'm sorry.
01:37This is not my favorite.
01:38The last one wasn't my favorite.
01:40The first Fantastic Beasts is one of my favorites.
01:42But it just seems to go downhill with all these movies.
01:44Oh, boy.
01:44That's too bad, because they are really promoting this movie.
01:48It's been sitting on the shelf.
01:49That's why.
01:49Yeah.
01:50It's been ready.
01:50But overall, I was disappointed.
01:52I didn't care for it.
01:53All right.
01:53What else?
01:54Also, we have a movie called Duel.
01:55This is a cool science fiction movie where, in the future, this young woman, she has terminal
02:01cancer.
02:02She wants to make a clone of herself for her family when she leaves.
02:07Oh, I like that.
02:07But she finds out she's not going to die a year later.
02:10So the clone goes, you know, I don't want to be terminated, so they have to do a battle
02:14to the death a year later.
02:15Well, of course.
02:16So she's training with Aaron Paul from Breaking Bad, you know, and it's a really cool sci-fi
02:21film.
02:22I love that.
02:22Wow.
02:22Okay.
02:22Yeah.
02:23Because it almost sounded like, what was the Michael Keaton film, where there were a
02:26bunch of films?
02:26Multiplicity.
02:27Multiplicity.
02:27Yes.
02:28For a minute.
02:28But it's not a comedy, and it's, okay, got it.
02:30But this is a dark, this is, it's kind of dark humor in it, you know?
02:32Oh, okay.
02:32Okay.
02:32I loved it.
02:33It's called Duel.
02:34All right.
02:34If you want a horror film, there's one called The Cellar.
02:37It was a big hit at South by Southwest a few weeks ago.
02:40It's an Irish horror film.
02:41Alicia Cuthbert, you know, from 24.
02:43She moves to this mansion, and in The Cellar, it's a portal to hell.
02:47Watch out.
02:48Well, of course, The Cellar always is.
02:49Yeah.
02:50Don't take the kids down there.
02:51Yeah.
02:51You know, but it's a really good Irish horror film, which is a genre unto itself, and I
02:56liked it a lot.
02:56All right.
02:57So, The Cellar.
02:57And finally, for the kids on HBO Max, back in the day on Nickelodeon was the Brothers Garcia.
03:02Mm-hmm.
03:02Now they're all grown up, and they have their own reboot.
03:05It's called The Garcias.
03:06Oh, wow.
03:06Yeah.
03:06So, it's a great family series.
03:08It's about being inclusive and about diversity.
03:12I really enjoyed it.
03:13All right.
03:13So, it's good.
03:13While we're there, Jeff, would you recommend Multiplicity?
03:17If you want to, sure.
03:18Watch that instead.
03:19Yes, and everything I mentioned today, I have interviews with everybody on my YouTube channel,
03:22with the directors and everything, so a lot to choose from, too.
03:25That is cool.
03:25Sign up for his YouTube channel.
03:27See all the great interviews.
03:28Facebook, and of course, VegasFilmCritic.com.
03:31Jeff, always good stuff.
03:32Thanks a lot.
03:32Thanks a lot.
03:33Thanks a lot.
03:35Bye.
03:37Bye.
03:38Bye.
03:39Bye.
03:40Bye, bye.
