Hello, here's your latest weather update from the Met Office. I'm Mark O'Britannia. We've
00:03
got plenty of fine and settle weather in store across the UK during the week ahead, all thanks
00:08
to high pressure dominating. High pressure starting to pull away towards the east as
00:11
we go through the week, drawing our air in from the south and south-east. Notice it's
00:14
fairly warm, those orange colours indicating temperatures well above the seasonal average.
00:19
The air also coming in from the east and south-east eventually is coming in off a fairly chilly
00:22
sea, so some North Sea coasts and some English Channel coasts too, because sea temperature
00:26
is a little bit suppressed. So the highest temperatures later in the week, more reserved
00:29
for western and north-western parts of the UK. Looking at things though in more detail
00:33
for the overnight period, and the cloud we're seeing today towards the north and east of
00:37
the country will tend to melt away, leaving a lot of clear weather across the bulk of
00:40
the UK as we head into the overnight period. Although into the early hours, cloud will
00:44
then increase across north-western spots, particularly across the north and west of
00:47
Scotland and parts of Northern Ireland, bringing some patchy rain by Monday morning. The most
00:52
likely area to see rain will be the northern and western isles there, and quite breezy
00:55
here by the end of the night too. With that cloud, the breeze and the rain around towards
00:59
the north-west, temperatures hold well above freezing, whereas towards the south and east
01:03
of the UK, with lighter winds and clearer skies, certainly in rural spots, we'll see
01:07
a touch of frost by the morning on Monday. Temperatures in some rural locations could
01:10
get down to minus 3 or minus 4 Celsius. Heading through Monday then, and after that chilly
01:15
start across the south and east of the UK, there'll be plenty of sunshine around, almost
01:19
wall-to-wall sunshine in fact across parts of England and Wales. Always more in the way
01:22
of clouds the further north and north-west you go. Again, the cloud thick enough, particularly
01:26
towards the north and west of Scotland, to give some patchy rain at times, perhaps an
01:30
isolated shower elsewhere across Northern Ireland and Scotland, but always the best
01:33
of the sunshine even into the afternoon, reserved for the south-east of the UK. In the sunshine
01:38
and with fairly light winds across the south and south-east, it should feel quite warm
01:41
out and about, temperatures peaking at 16 or 17 Celsius, 17 in London there, it's 63
01:46
in Fahrenheit, whereas towards the north and north-west of the UK, always a bit cooler
01:50
with that breeze and that cloud around. Temperatures here, low to mid-teens at best. As we head
01:54
into Tuesday, we're likely to see quite a chilly start to the day, quite a lot of clear
01:58
weather around, giving a patchy frost in places, but as we go through the day with that clear
02:01
weather around, lots of sunshine to look forward to. Notice a bit more of a breeze blowing
02:05
in from the east and south-east, which will take the edge off the temperatures, but nonetheless
02:09
quite a warm day to come in the sunshine. Temperatures again, peaking around about 16
02:12
or 17 Celsius, 17 in Glasgow for example, it's 63 in Fahrenheit. That's pretty much
02:18
it for me, but of course you can keep tuned to the Met Office forecast by following us
02:21
on social media and by subscribing to our YouTube channel. I'll see you soon, take care
02:26
for now, bye bye.
